...religious movement known as “evangelicalism” has been the Reverend Billy Graham. Evangelicalism is a Christian movement that focuses on the need for personal conversion, sharing the gospel, and salvation. Billy Graham is well known for his large evangelistic crusades that draw people by the thousands. These crusades have given Graham the distinction of preaching the gospel, in person, to more people than any other person in history. It is widely believed that over 2 billion people have heard Billy Graham preach the Gospel while more than 2.5 million of them made a public declaration of faith in response (Aikman 53). Evangelism is a very important Biblical task and successful evangelistic campaigns, where people turn to Jesus Christ for salvation, are cause to praise God. So it is natural that many Christians hold Graham in extremely high regard. But one question still remains: is Billy Graham a modern day prophet or is he just one of the most famous preachers that has ever lived? In biblical times the word prophet meant a delegated messenger; someone that delivers the direct word from God. While there is no den William Franklin Graham was born on November 7, 1918 near Charlotte, NC. Graham was not drawn to the Bible instantly. Graham was raised on a dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1943 he married Ruth McCue Bell, daughter of a Christian missionary. In his early years, the Graham family was members of the very conservative Presbyterian Church although...

Drake

...Aubrey Drake Graham born October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, who records under Drake. He is a Canadian recording artist, rapper, and songwriter. Drake started off playing Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi. After that career was done he later rose as a rapper, after releasing a couple of mixtapes before signing with Young Money Entertainment (Kellman). For one Drake is one of my all time favorite music artists. He motivates me and puts me in a positive attitude with his original lyrics. The song “Successful” in the album So Far Gone and Ready sticks out as one of my favorite songs record by Drake. He pushes past the dilemmas in his life and all the dislike everybody throws at him but still does what he wants to do. Compared to other rappers, Drake has by far the most meaning in every song he produces. Drake has a music style that isn’t like any other; most of his lyricism is in regard to being rich and famous and also past relationships with strippers. “Drake's sound is labeled as "soft" for his genuine, forgiving lyrics and expressive melody.” (Lester). What is another thing that sets him apart from the rest is he has a wide vocabulary in his rhymes that he produces; you can tell that he is very high educated. From the album Take Care I can sing every song on that album because you can understand Drake when he raps. “Drake has a unique musical style that has set him apart from his Young Money counterparts, especially in his latest effort album “Take Care”......

He has lead over 210 million people to Christ and has guided over eleven different United States Presidents in major decision making, particularly Eisenhower and Nixon, through his preaching and biblical knowledge (Showalter & Yichao, 2010). Billy Graham built his life and career around his family and his love for Jesus Christ. Graham and his wife Ruth raised their five children to be leaders of God and interestingly enough, all five of them have followed in their father’s footsteps and started ministries of their own. Graham reflects this writer’s worldview through his respect for life, love of family, and values centered upon God, as the creator of all things and this is reflected in the raising of all of his children to be moral, God-fearing human beings. Martha Graham

...Many consider Martha Graham to be one of the greatest dancers and choreographers of the twentieth century. She set in motion an entirely new concept of modern dance; one that transformed its nature in both movement and tone. Her career spanned seventy years, during which she choreographed more than one hundred and eighty dance compositions (PBS). She inspired hundreds of aspiring dancers. Many of her pupils later distinguished themselves as acclaimed choreographers (Terry). Her dance movements impacted the everyday life of many people, and taught one to appreciate every beautiful moment. Graham was immersed in the study of movement from the moment she was old enough to observe the fluidity of the body. Her father, a doctor who specialized in nervous disorders, believed strongly in diagnosing through observation. He focused on watching how his patients moved physically through a space. This stuck with Graham, who later incorporated the relationship between body and space into all of her work. Graham's interest in dance turned into a passion after she attended a performance of Ruth St. Denis, a premier ballerina in her day. Graham's parents were not thrilled with her career choice and had her attend a junior college. After her father's death however, she enrolled in the Denishawn dance school (Graham). While Graham began her career in ballet, her passion was for modern dance. Once she began teaching, she was able to have complete control over what she loved to do. The study...

Sir Francis Drake Eulogy

...Sir Francis Drake – Circumnavigator Extraordinaire A vast majority of individuals will travel through their life and not impact the world around them. They will contribute a minimum to society and will leave no footprints behind. Sir Francis Drake, Vice Admiral was not one of these people, not only did he impact the world around him, he conquered it as well. The life he led will go down in history, and his name will be remembered until the end of time for being the astonishing individual that he turned himself into. With consideration of all the incredible people whom he encountered during his five and fifty years, it is in great honor that I may speak during the hour of his death. Employed under our majesty, Queen Elizabeth I, Drake conquered the seas with an iron fist. He was an extremely loyal subject to our Queen and would have done anything to protect her. Whether this be defeating the Spanish Armada, giving the Queen and England itself a stunning victory. Onto a more personal level, in which I witnessed; when one of her subjects pulled a sword on her, he was right by her side, baring his own dagger, protecting our majesty from the potential threat. He was an outstanding navigator and sea captain, who accomplished circumnavigating the entire globe. Drake was a brave leader to many and used these skills to help bring down the mighty Spanish Armada. He saved countless of his soldiers’ lives on many occasions and was truly an honor to serve under, for his guidance was...

Vera Drake

...Vera Drake lives with her husband Stan and her two grown children Ethel and Sid. Vera is a domestic who cleans the house of a rich woman. She has a good heart and cheerful even though she got plenty of work to do, and a lot of people to take care of and help women in need, as she calls it. Vera has her big secrete that has no one in her family knows, and a secret that she intends to keep secret. When she says “Help Women In Need” she means to help poor pregnant women who are not willing or not be able to give birth to a child. Because abortion was not legal in England in the year 1950’s.Vera’s secret comes to an end after one of the girls she treated gets sick and the police get involved. This film does not only show how abortion works but it also tells us the story of the one who performs the abortion. Vera Drake was of pure good and it was never her intention ever to do abortion for her own benefit, but she was only thinking of how a poor pregnant woman would raise a child if they were born. This movie also comes with moral values and an ethical question to be considered like is Abortion really a murder? Did Vera commit a serious crime? Or should Vera be put in jail, if her own intention was to help hose poor pregnant women? As I finished watching this film, I tend to get sympathy with Vera, since she was such a caring and loving woman....

Graham Greene Biography

...Life and Work of Graham Greene Henry Graham Greene, better known by his pen name Graham Greene, was an English novelist and author regarded by some as one of the great writers of the 20th century. He was born on October 2, 1904, in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, in England. He was one of six children. His parents, Charles Henry Greene and Marion Raymond Greene, were first cousins, both members of a large, influential family that included the owners of Greene King Brewery, bankers, and statesmen; his mother was cousin to Robert Louis Stevenson. He was educated at an English School, the head-master of which was his father. His childhood was not at all happy; he describes this period of his life as "…something associated with violence, cruelty, evil across the way". Graham often skipped classes in order to avoid the constant bullying by his fellow classmates. At one point Greene even ran away from home. When Greene began suffering from mental and emotional problems, his parents sent him to London for psychotherapy by a student of the famous Sigmund Freud (1856–1939). Greene actually found the psychoanalysis to be very interesting and remained fascinated by dreams for the rest of his life. While he was living there, Greene developed his love for literature and began to write poetry. In 1922 Greene became a student of Balliol College, Oxford. At the age of twenty-two he became sub-editor on the staff of a newspaper The Nottingham Guardian. It was during this period that......

Graham Coxon's a+E

...Frantic riffs, motorik grooves and "perverse sounds" define Blur guitarists eighth solo album... A series of heavy squalls rather than a settled spell of fair weather, Graham Coxon’s eighth solo album travels many miles from the serene, crafted almost-folk of his last release, 2009’s The Spinning Top. That record was a long, themed exercise in sustained mood and atmosphere featuring guests as venerable as Danny Thompson, Martin Carthy and Robyn Hitchcock. In contrast, A+E is short, loud and brattish. It’s also tremendous fun. Driven by some of Coxon’s most innovative and uninhibited guitar playing, A+E’s trump card is its sheer sense of adventure. It’s not an album for lovers of the perfectly turned pop song so much as those who prefer to be bombarded by sonic extremes. The scratchy, angular pop of fizzing opener “Advice” sets the scene: melodic precision makes way for lopsided rhythm, abrasive textures, extemporised experimentation and vintage electronic equipment running riot. Much of the album takes delight in what can only be described as the sound of machinery arguing. The element of chance effectively becomes another instrument. A+E is produced by Ben Hillier, who worked on Blur’s Think Tank and – perhaps more pertinently – Coxon’s second solo album The Golden D. Like that record, A+E is self-played, relatively lo-fi and rhythmically eccentric, making little attempt to ingratiate itself to the listener. The major difference between the two is that this time Coxon......
