...and the behaviour of competitors. The actions of one’s competitors can easily influence the behaviour of afirm. This is proper for an oligopolistic industry whereby firms display mutual interdependence.Ollo is an oligopolistic business with Banglalion & Qubee as their major competitors. If Ollo sets a price higher than that charged by others, the company can expect to lose a lotof sales. Moreover, there are some barriers of entry Ollo must consider before expanding theirbusiness.Barriers to entry are obstacles that deter new firms from entering a market to compete withthe existing firms. They give firms a degree of market power such that decisions can bemade by existing firms without risking their market share. The most common types of barriers to entry are as follows: 1. Availability of key resources. 2. Government restrictions & legal barriers. 3. Exclusive rights & patents. 4. Initial capital cost. We must keep in mind that, the degree of barriers of entry can determine firms ‘pricing decisions. The wireless industry requires a big sum of capital and it uses mobile data network as its main resource.Ollo had to put down a lot of money just to enter this market still they must consider thefact that their competitor Banglalion has already covered 30 major districts of the country with their service. Considering this fact Ollo now is preparing to build network coverage in any one division among Shyllet, Chittagong, Barisal and Rangpur. This will give them a......

...booming with a growing middle-class, experts expect a big demand for broadband wireless services and WiMAX. Bangladesh will have around 12 million WiMAX subscribers by 2012, as BTRC expects. Banglalion is going to introduce wireless internet services from the end of this year. As the marketing officer of BanglaLion I have prepared the following marketing plan. Table of Contents Current Marketing Situation 1 Opportunity and issue analysis 1 Objectives 2 Marketing Strategy 2 Action Programs 3 Financial Projections 3 Implementation Controls 4 Current marketing situation The Internet came late to Bangladesh with connectivity in 1996. In the last few years it has grown dramatically, although obviously from a very low base. With an estimated user base of more than 500,000 by mid-2008, representing only a 0.4% penetration due to high cost and low quality of service, the local Internet industry has been preparing to move into the next stage of its development. The country’s telecom regulator auctioned off three WiMax licensees in August last year in an effort to tap into the business potentials the high-speed broadband services can generate. BanglaLion Communication, BRAC BD Mail Network Ltd and Augere Wireless Broadband Bangladesh Ltd won the bidding by agreeing to pay US$215 million each. However, BRAC later refused to take the......
