Mr. John Brown,

My name is Kevin Tolbert and I am a recent graduate at Ashford University. I hold a BA in early childhood education and graduated at the top of my class. I understand the importance of having a good education and would like to reach out to the kids of the future to help them understand the importance as well. I have a great passion for teaching and helping kids. I have three kids of my own, so I would say that I have experience in that field. I believe as adults we should take a great interest in educating our children as much as possible. We need to give our children every opportunity possible to achieve in education and in life. I am a hard working and determined individual who feels that I am the right man for the job. If I am hired I promise you that you won’t regret it; all I ask for is an opportunity. All kids are different. One thing I have learned is that kids mimic things they see others do. For example, have you ever told your child to never say curse words but they listen to you saying them all the time? Next, you get that dreaded call from your child’s school saying your child has been saying curse words. This happens all the time with. The theory that I support is behaviorism. Children illustrate the same behaviors they learn from their parents, family members, and friends.
Behaviorism is a philosophy of learning the focuses on the observed behavior and minimizes mental activity. Behavioral theorists describe learning as nothing more than the learning new behaviors. John B. Watson created this theory. He believed…...

...Here is the main difference and main similarity between these two schools of thought: Difference: Behavorism only cares about behavior of the subject and doesn't care about mental processes (the mind is considered an impenetrable black box). The psychodynamic approach looks at things happening in the mind only (usually unconscious elements therein). Similarity: Both believe that current behavior is determined by past experiences. Here, the psychodynamic approach believes that what happened to you in the past has been "locked away" somewhere in the abyss of your mind, but influential nonetheless. Behaviorism believes that you act the way you do from past experiences through conditional learning. This is a good starting point. There are many other similarities and differences between these two schools of thought. A good place to look would be in a book on the history of systems in psychology.  Basically the psychodynamic approach is the opposite of behaviorism. Behaviorism = a psychological approach which states that behavior can be explained scientifically, and that you don't have to explain it through an internal, mental approach. The behaviorists suggest that psychology is a science of behavior, not a science of mind. The sources of an individual's behavior is external, in the environment, not internal.
