It goes beyond any worldly riches, I feel great every time I look into the face of my beautiful daughter Neyah, and I say to myself self; I am important to this world I help created this face that is mine and how wonderful is that. Then, in my mind I heard the sound Ru ru that Scooby Doo makes when he’s in danger. “Scooby Doo, the character who solves mysteries involving supposedly supernatural creatures through a series of antics and missteps (” then, reality kicked in. Being a teen mom is very demanding and difficult at times, especially when it comes with an unplanned pregnancy as a teen. The difficulties it came with social, mental, and emotional feelings by the sudden change in the course of life. In addition, I had to take on many more responsibilities. However, with an unplanned pregnancy I had to give up many things in order to be a parent. As a result, becoming a parent introduce me to many new responsibilities and difficulties. Motherhood changed my life, it’s not always an easy transition, but with any transition there is guaranteed change for sure. However, with an unplanned pregnancy I had to give up many things in order to be a parent.

The difficulties it came with social, mental, and emotional feelings by the sudden change in the course of life. To begin with, if it wasn’t for my mother support I don’t know what I would have done. Though my mom had eight children did not mean it was smooth sailing for me. I am the seventh to the last, the baby girl in the family. My parents had six boys and two girls. First, my parents are very loving. They love us all, though my dad was very strict. My mom’s balance him out. I missed my father deeply; my dad had passed away with an illness call “(Sarcoidosis (sar-koy-DO-sis). Sarcoidosis is a disease of unknown cause that leads to inflammation (NIH, 2013).” The poor outcome of the disease damage may occur over many years and involve more than one organ. Death usually is the result of problems with lungs, heart, or brain and that is how I lost my father. My mother being a CNA provider took good care of my father. Throughout my father illness I watched my mom care for my dad that was very emotional. My mother educated us all about this disease because it is inherited on my dad side of the family. So, my siblings and I got checked out. Dr. said it skip my generation however; the next generation may inherit the Sarcoidosis! Before I had my baby while pregnant, I was happy and scared at the same time. For instance I stayed on face book to occupy my mine from stressing; I had post my stomach hurts a few times and it did. I receive a few responses from friends. Some other friends of mine stop socializing with me. A few was supportive. Unfortunately, stressing caused the baby to come earlier then it was supposing to. I have been a mom for two and a half months; I feel that it is my greatest accomplishment that I have ever received in life. For this reason, if I’m in a bad mood, I just look at my daughter and

she makes my whole day better just by that simple smile. Indeed, I feel that I am very lucky and fortunate to have such a good baby. While my decisions were previously driven by my own needs and wants, they are now center around my baby’s own needs and wants. Eight months went by fast as one would have expected, by the sudden change in the course of life.
Being a teen mom, I had to take on many more responsibilities. It is very hard at times for me to take care of my daughter Neyea. On top of keeping up with my school work, and trying to keep my room clean. My boyfriend helps me out a lot on all of that even though he works like nine hours everyday and attend school. I still live at my mom’s house. One of the responsibilities I had to take on was making sure my baby formula was made. My mother helped me with that. However; as my mother taught me, she always had stories about her pregnancy and my grandma pregnancy and her mother pregnancy, my great grandmother. Nevertheless, I smiled no dought I started to hear the Scooby Doo sound again Ruru. Inspite of, to realize as a teen mom everyone made a big deal out of having a child at a young age when in fact, back in there day other parents, my grandparents got pregnant younger than I did! But, on the contrary they were married. In other words, they made it sound like it was the correct way. Providing that, my mom’s said that is why it’s call back in their day that in which, I laughed out loud. With this in mind, an unplanned pregnancy I had to give up many things in order to be a parent. My mother has such a beautiful soul; she love children and also taught at Port Chester, New York Kennedy Elementary School. When we had our mother daughter talk she would quote from an Indian mystic guru philosopher “The moment a child is born, the mother is also born, she never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother is something absolutely new (Rajneesh, Acharya).”

By the sudden change in the course of life, I have encountered situations and events, and decisions that I was not ready to handle though my mom’s was supportive there was situations I didn’t share with her. For example: My self-esteem was not too great before I got pregnant. I depended on others approval and love to make me happy. High school students can be very mean; I assume there was a lot of jealously because of dude which I am still dating, my I daughter’s father. He was very popular in soccer and received a scholarship for college. I realize, having a child so that you can have someone love you is not how it works, though my boyfriend said he love me, I was looking for more reassurance. To get back to the point, I had to teach the baby love first before it can love you. You can’t depend on a baby to fill your emotional needs. To conclude, you have to learn how to love yourself first before you can love anyone else or anyone else can love. Subsequently, sometimes I think about what I could be doing at this second, going out with my friends, to the beach, movies, parks, and I miss it. I am not saying that you still can’t do these things, but when you’re young pregnant, and have a baby you get looks and comments everywhere you go. In fact, a cute cuddly gurgling baby didn’t seem too strenuous. I am slowly realizing that not only is a baby a cute showpiece, but a ton of responsibility inside the womb and out. By the way, not to mention the crying and staying up all night, not getting any sleep, the changing of the pampers and how expensive it is. Thanks to the Port Charlotte County WIC program. “The Special Supplement Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides federal grants for State for Supplemental food, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at risk (USDA, 2014).”

All in all, I had alot of life changes at first, learning all the basics and stuff. Having a baby young is very challenging but not impossible. I have learned a lot from my mother and I thank her and my siblings for the support. So far, I think I’m a hell of a great mother. Needless to say, I’ve been brought to tears on numerous occasions for one example: The church I attended gave a young couple the same age as me a baby shower. But not me, because I was not married and they were, however they were forced to get married. I thought that was hypocritical of the church. On the whole, I’ve learned it’s ok to miss your youth. I actually just realized it. My aunty always posts on my Facebook wall don’t only keep your head to the sky; look within your soul, and stand up for what I believe in no matter if I am standing alone. “Facebook is an online social networking service headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Its name comes from a colloquialism for the directory given to students at some American universities (Wikimedia).” I have finally found comfort in being a mom and still being young though in my opinion it did not matter if you had a baby young or much older as long as you loved your baby. I felt great writing this paper after all. To sum this up, my daughter gave me purpose. My goal was to get into a medical program before I got pregnant. My daughter Neyea helped me figure out this is still what I want to accomplish in life. I also would like to have my own blog to write and inspire others in my situation. She brought my inner voice out that I used to write down in secret journals. She gave me dreams that are bigger than I ever could have imagined and showed me that with love and hard work, I can conquer all.

The Candie’s Foundation is a philanthropic branch from the clothing line Candie’s. The clothes from the Candie’s brand are meant to appeal to teenage girls who dress girly and traditionally feminine. Focusing on the same demographic, the foundation was founded with the goal to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy in 2001, according to their website. The print ads from their current campaign mainly feature female celebrities such as Fergie, Hilary Duff, Ciara, Hayden Panettiere, and Vanessa Minnillo. However, there have also been male participants for their cause, among these include Usher, Teddy Geiger, and the band Fall Out Boy. Teen Vogue is a popular magazine that is the name suggests, the teen version of the fashion magazine Vogue. It comprises of mostly advertisements regarding fashion and beauty. Teen Vogue does have a mask of superficiality; the promotion of what society deems fabulous to look at. Every issue does have a couple articles on serious topics such as teen pregnancy or drug abuse, but for the most part the theme of the magazine is kept at a shallow level. The stigma of a teen mom does exist despite the progression in acceptance our American society has made. In the past, teen moms were viewed with much disgust and repulsion as most teen pregnancies did occur outside of wedlock. Now,......

Adhd in Teens

...English 111-229 Explaining Synthesis Final Draft 1,911 Words Teens with ADHD: Facing the Challenges of Family and School More children are being diagnosed with ADHD and are being prescribed medication to control this disorder. There are many people with views on both sides of the issues of treatments used that are for and against giving children medication. There will always be a few who say kids do not need the medicine to function properly, and then we have some who live by the medication. I have found two articles that explain in depth the various stages of ADHD and the problems that one can face. Resnick covers the psychological and clinical aspects of ADHD in a brief article outlining the symptoms and treatments of ADHD in adolescents and adults (530). In Litner’s article he places a more self-management and self-help image aspect. As a parent of a child with ADHD I wanted to explore both sides of the story, in addition to looking at the signs and symptoms and some of the affects it has on the child. Parents and their families are important factors for children with ADHD, and we have a direct impact on the way they will learn. As a parent it is up to me to learn as much as I can about ADHD and the different treatments we can use, so that a child with ADHD has the same lifestyle as a child without the disorder. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a behavioral disorder that affects millions of children’s lives at home and in school. It is more......

Teen Pregnancy

...Teen Pregnancy Pregnancy is the most amazing, life changing experience any woman could have. With a child comes great maturity and responsibility. Unfortunately, in today’s society, we see babies having babies. Teenage pregnancy is a huge issue and shows like Teen Mom on MTV tend to glamorize teen pregnancy rather than help show ways of prevention. We should be teaching our kids about contraception and abstinence rather than showing them that becoming a teen mom could get you a television show. One would think that the harsh realities shown on MTV’s Teen Mom would help lower the teen pregnancy rate. But do they? Does this show send a confusing message to teen girls? ( Teen Mom is a reality television show that follows the lives of four young girls as they share their struggles through motherhood with the world. Teen Mom first aired in December 2009 and has gone on for several seasons. We know these teens by name; Farrah, Maci, Catelynn, Amber, Janelle, Leah, Chelsea, and Kailyn. These ladies are the stars of Teen Mom, Season 1 and Season 2. We see them pretty much everywhere we look; on TV, on the covers of magazines, and entertainment blogs. The bad decisions these young teens made have been rewarded with fame and attention. ( It is shocking to me that this show has lasted this long because I personally believe......

Is the show really coming off as educational and realistic or are the shows making the girls make bad decisions. It all started with Maci, Farrah, Amber and Catelynn on the first season of 16 and Pregnant. The show was made to be educational and prevent teen pregnancies, to show young girls and boys about the real struggles of being a teen parent, showing the real struggles of parenting. Teen least once before the age of 20.” () Most teens get pregnant because they want to know what it feels like to raise a child or because they see others with children and they find them cute and want them to themselves. Others get pregnant because they don’t know about the different ways of contraception and ways to stay safe. Many girls struggle with teen pregnancy because of their low confidence and self-worth. They feel that they are ugly and no guy would show them attention unless they give them what they want. In our society today Teenage Pregnancy affects both females and males in several ways. The issue of teenage pregnancy started to interest me when used to go to Pennsylvania with my friend a great percentage of the females there were actually pregnant and I didn’t really understand why. I wasn’t really sure how big or how serious teen pregnancy is, but with little knowledge and a tremendous amount of curiosity, I wanted teen pregnancy to be my topic. Scope Teen pregnancy is a continuously increasing problem in the United States today. The United States has the highest birth rates compared to places like Canada. In the United States, the 18-19 year old age group has the highest rate of teen pregnancy (“Teen” 1). Adolescents who are having sex without protection are those who are more likely to get pregnant. Teen Moms

...Daiejha Wilson 5-6-2014 Dr. Navare Teen Moms Being a teen mom is definitely not an easy task. Teen pregnancy is the number one reason why teen girls drop out of school. Many teenage girls begin to lose or forget about their dreams of ever finishing high school and going to college, and focus mainly on taking care of their babies. Without support and help from others, these girls are forced to end their education, to take care of their children. Statistics show that only about one-third of teen moms will graduate high school and a little over one percent of these mothers will receive a college degree before the age of 30. Becoming a teen mom should not stop a young woman from continuing with school. Therefore, many support systems, such as affordable childcare, support groups, public assistance, etc., should be implemented in their communities. Becoming a parent at a young age can alter a teen’s life tremendously. For most teenage mothers, school, let alone college are most likely the last things that are on their minds. They are worried about how they are going to take care and provide for their child. Many teen moms have no one to help them, they are basically on their own. Some have the desire to finish high school and attend college, but without the help and support it is almost impossible for them to do so. These mothers should be able to further their education just like the rest of their peers. However, teen moms have many factors in the way, such as not enough......

Teen Pregnancy

...Teen Pregnancy Did you know that 3 out of 10 teenage girls will become pregnant before the age of twenty? According to the CDC the teen pregnancy rate has been decreasing since 2008 and is at an all-time low. However, reading the statistic that three out of ten girls will become pregnant before the age of twenty caused me to ask questions. Why is this still so high? With all of the knowledge out there how are so many teens becoming parents at such a young age? Working in the medical field for a short period of time I came across many teen moms. They struggled to get through life and this brought me to question not just the cause of teen pregnancy, but also how it is viewed in today’s time. Today I am going to inform you on three factors that contribute to teen pregnancy: home life, education and prevention, and society’s view. Transition #1: Before we can talk about the other contributors to teen pregnancy, we need to start with the home life and how it can affect teen girls. I. Main Point: A teenage girl’s home life can have a negative effect on pregnancy prevention. II. The lack of parenting can cause neglect for the teen and they may feel the need to act out in order to gain their parent’s attention. III. Statistics show that teens coming from poverty stricken homes are more likely to become pregnant. In her paper, Teenage childbearing and personal responsibility: An alternative view, Arline T. Geronimus states that teens growing up in poor households on......

Teen Pregnancy

...Jnae Young Professor Leigh Ann Christian English 101 Teen pregnancy is now an epidemic in the United States; teens are having unprotected sex knowing the repercussions and consequences of it. “Nearly one million teen girls get pregnant each year. Nearly four out of 10 young women get pregnant at least once before they turn 20.1 Each year the federal government alone spends about $40 billion to help families that began with a teenage birth (Statistics ).” This new social phenomenon is spreading widely and becoming a calamity. The consequences of teen pregnancy are devastating. Some parents are left to raise kids on their own as single parents, and some teens have to drop everything and do not even get to finish high school. Children born to teen parents have higher rates of foster care placement, teen parents struggle with finance issues, and it is more likely for babies to be neglected when born to teen parents. Abstinence of course is the number one prevention method for teen pregnancy, which is the only method that is one hundred percent effective. If tens just waited until they were older, instead of having sex so quickly there certainly would not be as many teen mothers. The reality of the situation at hand is that teens are having sex and at very young ages, do not use contraceptives and get pregnant. One real common cause of teen pregnancy, that being unprotected sex. Teens are not using contraceptives as much as they should and some not at all; the reasoning......

Once I Was a Teen Mom Too

...emotional highs and lows. It's important for a teen to assess how she feels: Sad? Anxious? Embarrassed? and then acknowledge these feelings. Pregnant teens should reach out to friends and family and share their thoughts. I felt anxious that friends may not want to hang out with me once I started showing, and I should have told them. I bet many friends would have stood by me and offered support during this time. I was sad about disappointing my family, and I should have better expressed those feelings — it's important to ask for support and reassurance. And as I was worried about my future, I know how important it is to talk about your concerns with your family or a trusted adult who can help access all available health, educational, and social services. Most importantly, it's essential to read up on information about pregnancy hormones. Teens may have a hard time telling the difference between typical mood swings associated with pregnancy, and unusual, lingering symptoms of clinical depression that should be addressed by a mental health professional. Believe it or not, how a teen mom feels during pregnancy can affect the health of the pregnancy. So it's important teen moms stay in touch with friends and get regular exercise — as simple as walking around the block or going to the mall and window-shopping for the nursery. Teenage pregnancy articles often forget to address the emotional aspects of this difficult choice, but it's necessary teens understand these complex......

...Teen pregnancy When it comes to teen pregnancy, there is no stereotype. Some teens can be persuaded into waiting. Others will have an opinion about sex and not change their minds for anyone. All teens have their own opinions about everything that they do and don't do. One teen might be the result of a teenage pregnancy and choose to wait. On the other hand, they might think that it is no big deal. Being a teen mom myself opened my eyes to many things. I got pregnant, partially out of choice - I thought that a baby would bring me and my fiancé closer together. It was mostly an accident though. There was nothing that my parents or anyone else could have said to stop me from having sex. I was engaged to the man of my dreams and gave myself to him entirely. Sometimes, the teen parents stay together, but unfortunately, as in my case, they often do not. The father of my child was just as excited and was looking forward to the birth of our son, just as much as I was. We had many plans for the future. We had already known each other for approximately four years, dated for around three years, and were engaged for a little over two years, before my baby was born. Everything was going great. Our love was only strengthened by my pregnancy. Once we found out that I was having a boy, the father was even more excited. He now lives in Nebraska, with his girlfriend of three months. He has only seen his son two times, since he was born. He was also called three times. It is so......

The Pros and Cons of Being a Teen

...Being a teenager is a strange yet exciting part of life. Teenager faced tough and critical decision each and every day – decision that will effect their lives. Everyone goes though the teenage years, but as people get older, they seem to lose touch of their teenage experience and feel as though they can’t relate to anything that teenagers go though. There are numerous of pros and cons of being a teenager. One of the advantages is most of the teens in our country need not to take big responsibility compared to those adolescences living in India and Africa. They worked very hard day and night in order to put rice on their family’s plate despite their salary is dirt cheap. I believes that most of the teenagers over here have sufficient love and affection from their parents or any other people who is related and close to them such as grandparents or relatives. Hence, attentions from all these kind souls will helps them in developing better personality and attitude towards overcoming obstacles in future. However, lack of love in a teen, will lead them in committing crimes. It is not only applied to those suffering in poor family but surprisingly, it occurred to rich brats too. As their parents are way too busy in search of money and slipped away the responsibility of a good parent which is to care for their children. Furthermore, teenagers have a little more freedom to hang out with their friends at shopping complex and meeting up for meals, compared to when they were a......

...Cultural Influence in Development Cultural Influences in Development Fhameka Lewis February 10, 2015 Argosy University Single Moms Single moms face a challenge within their lives. Some mothers become single through divorce and while others become single outside of wedlock. However, there is no set age for a single mom. Statics states that most females become single moms before they finish high school and is receiving some type of government assistance for help. The average single mom has either dropped out of school or working a minimum paying job. Because of the high cost of living rate it is impossible for these single moms to provide a healthy life for their children. Therefore the Department of Human Service is stepping up to the platform to help these moms seek better jobs and receive a better education. The Jefferson County Department of Human Services will be offering a variety of workshops for all single moms in the surrounding communities. Teen Mom

...Teen Mom The show “Teen Mom” in my opinion has a very positive and negative balance of the show. Teen Mom is a television show which comes on the television station MTV, it is about a group of high school girls who have had babies, and they are still trying to maintain work, or even finish school. The show lets society into these girls’ lives, and shows the struggles, and also the high points of these teenage boys and girls lives, after having children. The show follows at least four to five young teenage girls, they also follow them through their entire pregnancies, and also the relationships that they have with their families. The show also shows how the relationships between the teen mom and dad may change before and after the baby. I like this show because it tells our young society that they should try and practice abstinence as long as possible, but it also sends a message out to the young teenagers about the way their lives could change with a baby. There are some teenagers who actually stay together on the show and get married, and then there are those teens that fall in the statistics category of being a single teenage mom. The show provides us with a balanced knowledge of wait could happen to us when we have a child at such a young age. The message it sends is very important, because there are a lot of teens who have children when they are young, it lets them know that they too, can become one of those teenagers who has had a child, and can finish school, find......
