Business Communication and Trends
Business communication has several roles and each organization uses each to address employees, communicate changes in the workplace and advise the community. One way that employers address the employees is by the annual review process. This process occurs annually within most organizations from January to April. This determines whether the employee will receive an annual increase and the amount of that increase. Within M&I Bank, when employees are initially hired they receive a 45- and 90-day review. Presenting the employee with these formal reviews fosters a culture of communication and helps the employee know his or her standing within the company. Without these reviews, the employee may wonder or guess how he or she is performing and this may cause problems for the employee and the employer. If the employee thinks he or she is performing at an exceeds or outstanding level but the employer thinks the employee needs improvement, the employee is not receiving the proper amount of feedback and does not have the opportunity to make improvements prior to receiving the annual. A delay in feedback can cause a rift in the relationship between the employee and the employer because the employee will experience issues with morale that might reduce productivity (Hill, 2010).
Organizations often use newsletters to communicate changes (positive or negative) within a company. These newsletters often detail alternate places that each employee can research to find more information. At M&I Bank, if the information is negative and may require more explanation, the management staff normally hosts a monthly meeting to address any employee concerns. This forum allows the employees to asks questions and conveys a synopsis of any changes…...

...Lecture # 2 Summary Communication:- It is the process of acting upon information. Information is received through our sensory organs, processed and then responded accordingly. Every person perceives the information differently and hence responds differently. It can also be said as the “process of interacting simultaneously with another and mutually influencing each other, usually for the purpose of managing relationships”. The ratio of mutual influencing can be different depending upon the situation. The ultimate goal of interpersonal communication is the management of relationships. Communication can be between: • 1 basis • 1- group basis • group – group basis Two parties exchange communication in the form of: • Thoughts • Ideas • Information • Emotions/Feelings • Orders/Commands • Advice • Feedback • Request • Attitudes • Prejudice Components of Communication:- ▪ Context - physical and psychological communication environment ▪ Encoder/Source - puts the message into code ▪ Receiver/Decoder - decodes the message ▪ Message - elements of communication to which people assign meaning ▪ Channel - pathway through which messages are sent ▪ Encoder - translates ideas, feelings, and thoughts into a code ▪ Receiver/Decoder - interprets ideas, feelings, and thoughts that have been put into a code ▪ Feedback - response to a message ▪ Noise - information that interferes...

...Trends The OfficeSupplies Industry is subject to wide cyclical swings, the timing of which generally coincide with the fate of the U.S economy and, to a lesser extent, those of many European countries. This industry is not capital intensive, and expenditures are often less than annual depreciation charges. There are two major sectors. One includes companies that produce digital office equipment, such as copiers, printers, facsimile equipment, and postage meters. The largest customer category here is major financial institutions. Other important sources of revenue stem from small and mid-sized businesses and government agencies. The provision of management/outsourcing services supplements the top lines of these companies. The second sector is made up of office supply distributors. Their sales are derived from North American retail chains, domestic contract stationery businesses, and international operations. Retail chain business is supplemented by Internet-sourced orders, which are factored into the calculation of same-store sales, a key barometer of operating efficiency. Stocks in this group are relatively easy to analyze, given the straight forward nature of their businesses, the extended length of the product cycle versus most other technologically oriented industries, and the ease of determining market-share gains and losses. Pricing Wars As is the case in the electronics industry, prices for office equipment and certain supplies, notably ink cartridges, tend to......

...Communication Trends Martin Lara COM/285 10/12/2010 Prof. Pamela Matthews Communication Trends Business communication trend are the most valuable information tool in a corporation and require the complete focus of an associate and the entire staff in any corporation. In today’s technological environment communication has expanded greatly but this drastically change has its implications. Many of the new technology can be intimidating to some members of a corporation and can be complicated to reach the same level of knowledge to all members in a corporation (Locker & Kienzler, 2008). E-mail, telephone and videoconferencing has become the way of communicating in any corporation in today’s corporate world, this has become a excellent tool of communication but it has let to companies down fall if they do not understand the importance of all this tools (“Principles of Business Communication,” 2009). Communication at Work Companies depend on many types of communication trends; technology has changed all concepts and has improved the way we communicate in a global economy. E-mail is a good example of communication trends; many large scale companies send and receive millions of e-mails in a week. Phone-conference play a good example of communication in today’s business, a simple conference call can unite employees from a company in different parts of a country or even the world, and this helps a corporation to be united in new ideas or company’s......

...Physical education trends have developed recently to incorporate a greater variety of activities. Introducing students to lifetime activities like bowling, walking/hiking, or Frisbee at an early age can help students develop good activity habits that will carry over into adulthood. Some teachers have even begun to incorporate stress-reduction techniques such as yoga and deep-breathing. Teaching non-traditional sports to students may also provide the necessary motivation for students to increase their activity, and can help students learn about different cultures. For example, while teaching a unit about lacrosse (in, say, Arizona, USA), students can also learn a little bit about the Native American cultures of the Northeast and Eastern Canada, where lacrosse originated. Teaching non-traditional (or non-native) sports provides a great opportunity to integrate academic concepts from other subjects as well (social studies from the example above), which is required of every P.E. teacher these days. There are also many different models that have been created as of late that change the face of P.E. One example of this is the Health Club Model. Teaching with this model is very different from the "Organized Recess" of 20 or 30 years ago. Spun off the boom in the health club industry, a P.E. class provides many of the same "classes" that are found at a health club. Monday a student could be doing kickboxing, the next day is yoga, Wednesday the student is doing aerobics. This type......

...Abstract Business communication trends have changed a great deal over the past decade. With so many tools available on the Internet such as Wiki, Facebook, Google, etc. these provide instantaneous knowledge right at your fingertips. Computers have also given the working world tools for easier communication, phones have been used for years, but luckily the following are available - instant messaging, email, and online ‘real-time’ meetings. These are just a few of many tools out there available to working individuals to make lives easier and more productive. Trends in Business Communications Without business communications my job could not be done. A typical day starts out with several phone messages, 20-30 new emails and several coworkers knocking at the door. Once all messages are reviewed prioritizing the day becomes much easier and the day goes on from there. Tools Available to the business world are several tools for communication throughout the day. Instant Messaging is a tool I prefer; it is instant, in writing and easy to stay on track with the discussion at hand. Of course there is always telecommunications, which is not a favorite because I prefer to have answers in writing. Telecommunications are a wonderful for teleconferences with associates, especially when working with associates out of state. Email seems to be the preferred means of communication; unfortunately it was become a source for information overload. Email as useful as it is could be a time......

...Trends Shaping Tomorrow’s World By Marvin J. Cetron and Owen Davies Forces in the Natural and Institutional Environments Introduction For nearly half a century, Forecasting International has been tracking the forces that shape our future. Some 20 years ago, we codified our observations into a list of trends that forms the basis for much of our work. For each of our projects, we compare the specific circumstances of an industry or organization with these general trends and project their interactions. This often allows us to form a remarkably detailed picture of what lies ahead. This is Part Two of FI’s periodic trend report. It covers trends in energy, the environment, technology, management and institutions, and terrorism. (Part One, published in the May-June 2010 issue of THE FUTURIST, tracked economic, population, societal, family, and work trends.) ...Describe one trend that is impacting library services to children. Today when planning programs and deciding which library services to provide to children, one trend children librarians need to keep in mind is self-discovery. The trend of having self-discovery programs is increasing due to the implementation of the Common Core State Standards throughout the United States of America. The Common Core State Standards have been adopted by 48 out of 50 states and are in the process of being implemented into schools. Common Core State standards encourage children to think critically, learn how to problem solve, and develop analytical skills. Programs and activities children participate in should help create an environment that encourages children to learn these skills. To help preschool age children develop these skills, librarians should offer programs that expose them to sensory and exploration bins, allow them to design crafts and build projects on their own, sing and move to music, and develop basic fine and gross motor skills. Programs such as building with Legos, Bedtime Math (Crazy 8’s), Young Makers, or participating in National Cardboard Challenge day are examples of programs that develop elementary age children’s imagination, critical thinking, problem solving, and learning to analyze. Great programs for Teens include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), book talks, science experiments, crafting, gardening, and programs that help teens use and......

As we move forward in life we increase our knowledge and available resources. Technology is constantly changing as well, giving us many tools to work with. In the last decade technology has given us a boost in communications with: text messaging, emails, instant messenger and all the social media venues such as Instagram, Twitter, Myspace, and Facebook. With the use of social media, people have become more comfortable talking about what is going on in their lives. This has led to a more productive environment in some cases. In the last twenty years we have seen social movements that have brought on a rights-based approach to health care. The implementation of HIPPA laws to protect the client’s personal information. The concern for privacy while maintaining the most open flow of communication with a client has become priority. The Affordable Health Care Act has caused quite a stir amongst the people of the United States. Most people don’t understand what it means for them, leading to the need for someone to explain it. With the ever changing population, the Affordable Health Care Act was used to help regulate and make available health care to those that weren’t covered before, same sex partner, dependent children over 18, people with pre-existing conditions and expanding the coverage of state funded insurance. ...Social Movements and Trends . In this paper I will discuss the women and their difficulties as there were basic rights which were being denied and discriminated against in the workplace during 1960 through 1980. As a setback that women faced in the 1960s and the early 1980s were that men realized what women were trying to do as much as they could, but men wanted to keep fully qualified women out of their workplace. During the early the 1960s, many changes were put in place to help women get to the top in a sense it would be fair to say that women as individuals have always been viewed as the underdog to a man especially in the workplace. Rex 1978 “stated that in the 1970’s women were heavily discriminated against when it came to what jobs they received and would the pay be equal to a what a man is paid”. Changes for women has progressed over time however in the 1960’s and 1970’s certain jobs like construction and policing made it hard for a woman to strive equally as a man in these types of fields during this time frame there were several activist that attempted to take a stand. Prophet Gail Cook addressed the issue of women being treated equally in the work field it is important to understand that changes that have been made to equal the playing field when it comes to a woman being treated equally to a man Sawhney stated that women have been denied basic rights and this has been occurring since before the 1960’s Changes that was effective and helped to succeed by more...

...bob dylan Urbanization Trend Soc/120 Jill Raichel 07/02/2011 Egypt began to urbanize in the early 1800’s and the country started to become more modern. The city of Cairo had the best access to water transportation and created income using an imperial tax base. In the 19th century industrialization and trade industry became the main sources of income for the Egyptians. When World War II was over roads and railways were created in and around urban areas in northern Africa and the Middle East. This lead to mass amounts of migration from rural areas to the larger cities, including Cairo. “In the larger countries of the region, such as Algeria and, of course, Egypt, close to 50% of the population was urban by the 1990's” (Clark, 2004). Approximately one third of Cairo's population migrate from surrounding villages in the 1960s. These migrants accounted for one half of the population growth in the area. The migrant population grew steadily since the end of the second World War and caused a population boom to occur in mostly large cities. The impact of this rural to urban migration was easy to see considering they brought their habits along. Even though village migrants are moved to an urban area, they still brought their rural culture and habits with them causing people to change society. When over one third of the population migrate from rural areas, it makes for a large diverse community. ......

...To: VP of Ranbaxy Travels From: Sai Krishna Bhimavarapu Re: Introduction of travel plans for the Baby Boomers Date: May 30, 2012 “Life begins at 40”. This is the new age mantra for the BOOMERS. These are the people who have the time, the money and the desire to spend. Being highly capable of making decisions for themselves and being aware of the outside world, they are able to perform the activities with ease. Like the younger generation, they are also very enthusiastic about what they do and what they look like to others. Per the U.S Census, the median income of the average U.S household (age 45-55) is about $85,000. This income is post expenditures which is available at their disposal. These Boomers want to travel the world since they the time and money. As Saint Augustine said “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page". Therefore, Using this, I suggest that our travels should focus of introducing travel plans for the baby boomers. A Second Honeymoon Most of these people have spent their life looking after their loved ones and kids. The spouse is most often forgotten or taken for granted. We can focus on a product called ‘second honeymoon’ to the couples. it would be an amazing idea to actually give them a package which would make them feel young again. With the power of buying and the increasing options for international travel, these people can actually visit places they have only heard of in television shows. The boomers can actually...
