Comparative Analysis of Drl and Actavis

...| | Dr. Reddy's | 6.1% | 6.8% | 5.4% | Note A: Equivalent to $ 116 m (as reported) As we can see, the reported dollar-amount of R&D expenditure for Actavis was approx. four-times that of Dr. Reddy’s in 2012, which can be attributed to the larger size of Actavis as compared to Dr. Reddy’s (in terms of revenue). Comparing R&D spend as a % of revenues (i.e., common-sized R&D expense), this is in the range of 6-7% for both the companies in 2012 and 2011. This is a more reasonable comparison of the two companies’ R&D spend. There was an aberration only in 2010 in Actavis on account of 30 new ADNA filed with the US authorities. DRL R&D Spend The majority of the R&D spend is towards NCE and proprietary products. A substantial portion of current year research and development activities relates to the development of bio-equivalent generic products representing approximately 71%, of the total. Actavis R&D Spend R&D expenses within our Actavis Pharma segment increased 12.3% or $27.9 million to $255.6 million for the year ended December 31, 2012 compared to $227.7 million in the prior year. The increase in R&D expenses was primarily due to higher costs associated with the Actavis Group acquisition. It is also worth noting that Actavis’ “Specialty Brands” business segment involves high R&D expenditure. In 2012, R&D expenditure as a percent of the segment’s revenue was 30%. However, this was counter-balanced by Actavis’......

...RUNNING HEAD: COMMUNICATION GENRE Communication Genre Comparative Analysis Paper Pamela E. Mundhenk Week 2 Assignment COM/PA 530 Professor J. Sanfillippo July 29, 2013 University of Phoenix Communication Genre Comparative Analysis Introduction Public administrators use many communication genres to reach their audiences. These genres range from business cards to governmental proposals. Each one has its own purpose. Each one has its own way of getting information to the audience quickly and efficiently. Each one has been affected by technology. Each has its own discourse conventions associated with it. And each has its own method of distribution—either external or internal. The purpose of this analysis is to compare some of these genres and explain how each one gets information to the intended audience effectively. The Purpose The business card genre introduces a reader to the person named on the card and provides professional information about that person. It helps the reader gain insight to pertinent information concerning the cardholder by providing the cardholder’s name, the agency’s name, an office phone number, address, and e-mail address. The resume, on the other hand, provides information to the reader regarding a candidate’s skills and experience related to potential employment. The comparison will use ratios calculated from financials of each company. The reason for using rations rather than simply reviewing the financial statements themselves is that financial ratios are an efficient way to compare companies independently of size, volume or market share. Ratios go beyond just looking at the numbers to reveal just how profitable a company is, does it have enough cash to cover fund the business, or is it heavily dependent on debt (Ingram 2013). Examining ratios are instrumental in planning and making strategic decision within a company. Ratios are also valuable to......

Comparative Analysis

...Comparative Analysis Rural hospitals across the world are being affected financially. Rural communities are less wealthy; the majority of the residents are uninsured. They tend to use the emergency room as their primary care, putting a financial burned on the hospital. In 1986 the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) was enacted by congress as part of the Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act (COBRA). EMTALA allows uninsured patients to receive care with an emergency condition regardless of insurance status or the ability to pay. The law states the patient may not be turned away and care cannot be delayed due to pay concerns. EMTALA requires the hospital to stabilize the patient before transferring or discharging the patient (Encyclopedia of Everyday Laws, 2013). According to The Center for Disease Control (CDC), about 135 million people visit the emergency room each year and hospitals lose approximately $34 billion in unpaid medical bills. With the passing of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act many unnecessary or preventable emergency room visits will be eliminated. My action plan for Ashe Memorial Hospital is to design a program to decrease the number of uninsured patients using the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). By decreasing the number of uninsured people, it will also: • decrease the number of emergency room visits • increase the number of people to receive preventative care • increase the quality of patient......

Gm Recalls Multiple Brands of Cars

...Deseon Jenkins Dr. Culp MG350 March 14, 2014 Business Article 2 In this article, it explains how GM has recalled more than 1.6 million cars worldwide due to defective ignition switches which caused cars to either shut off, causes accidents, and defective deployment of airbags. This defect has been known about by the GM Company but they failed to act upon the action and complaints till now. Now GM and other sources claim that they did not have enough evidence to call a major recall of the many vehicles that’s being recalled. The recall even includes the Chevy cobalt’s and the Chevy Cruzes that recently came out. A GM spokesman said that without rigorous analysis, it would be just speculations to assume that these allegations would have anything to do with them and draw any meaningful conclusions that would lead to the recall of many vehicles. Recently, GM has recalled six cars due to defective ignition switches. The problems led to that if it was bumped or weighed down by heavy keys, it will shut the engines and power systems off, and disable airbags. It was bad enough to where the 2003-2007 Saturn ions, the 2006-2007 Chevy HHRs, and Pontiac Solstice and 2007 Chevy sky is no longer in production anymore. Currently, research and investigation is underway to investigate why GM waited so long to take action on these allegations, and why they chose not to act upon this problem till now despite the fact that GM knew long ago about these problems. First off, I would have to...

Comparative Analysis of Two Works

...Comparative analysis Comparative Analysis of two works E M. Tu English Literature 125 M V 05 August 2012 Comparative analysis Comparative Analysis of two works The creative process is often filled with emotions, and throughout it, it is not uncommon to experience the whole gauntlet of highs, lows and everything in between. The poems, “poetry” and “constantly risking absurdity” are two works that are filled with similarities in the creative process and yet they are very different. These two works give insight to the creative process from each poet’s perspective. They are both excited by it, but they achieve their goal through traveling different routes. As much as they like and appreciate the finished product you cannot help but believe that they are just as fascinated, captivated and even enthralled by the process itself. The creative process for them is a lot like certain aspects of life, and it is demonstrated in their work. Ferlinghetti’s experience is not one made up purely of joy, in fact; it is filled with struggle, but it is a journey in search of joy and of beauty. He must take risks and is willing to do so in pursuit of the desired goal every time he performs. He starts his poem in a manner using words that immediately catches your attention. You are immediately drawn in by his description of the risks that a poet must take each time he performs before an audience. There is always the possibility that he may end up looking like a fool (risking absurdity)...

Market Analysis: Car Industry

...Market Analysis: Car industry A market is a platform where the forces of demand and supply, essentially in the form of buyers and sellers interact. It is a switchboard that directs those with a commodity towards those who are in need of it. Since demand and supply exists for virtually all products, similarly a market for cars also exists. The car market globally is dominated by the Japanese after the decline in the American car makers after the World War II. This market today is dominated by names like Honda, Toyota, Chrysler (now bankrupt), GM (now bankrupt), Mercedes, BMW and Ford etc. In the recent years, the market for cars has undergone major demand and supply changes, causing the prices to fluctuate, but this fluctuation has been a stable one. Demand Forces The demand for cars in the world, in general, was increasing until the world was hit was a recession. The recession has impacted demand negatively. Demand can be defined as the quantity of a commodity, in our case cars, demanded at a certain price over a given period of time. The demand for cars is price elastic, which means that a price and quantity demanded have an inverse relationship, and an increase in the price of cars will cause the demand to fall. The world market for cars has also seen a downward trend on the demand graph due to the recent economic crisis in the world. All the sectors in the economies all over the world have seen a decline in demand. Since all the sectors within an economy are......

Comparative Analysis

...Comparative Analysis Debate has sparked among residents of the East Park area after the ruination of a “freshly painted” wall of an East Park Café. The editorial piece ‘The good, the bad and the ugly’ written by the editor, published in ‘The Daily Tribute’ 16th July 2009, is written in response to this “puerile cultural vandalism”. The editor slams council officials and the local government for “[dragging their] heels for months” and then “[refusing] to offer support” to local businesses and individuals. One day after the publication of this editorial piece, Michaela Whitehouse, a member of the East Park council, writes in response to the article. Whitehouse intends to set the facts straight and to “address [the editors] less enlightened remarks” through her angry yet controlled tone. The editor presents his article with the bold, cliché title ‘The good, the bad and the ugly’ capturing the attention of ‘The Daily Tribute’ readers. Accompanied by a picture dominated by “lurid and tasteless sexual diagrams and obscenities”, the editor is able to establish the demoralising effects of graffiti. The graffiti resembling the “ugly” from the title, demonstrates that these “thugs” are not interested in what their finished product looks like; they will continue to “desecrate” properties at their own accord. The opening paragraph of the editorial embeds strong and attention grabbing language enforcing the difference between hardworking “entrepreneurs” and “dual-mortgage bearers” and......
