...Unethical Corporate Practices Carol Bramlett MGT/521 December 1, 2013 Heather Rideout Unethical Corporate Practices 2. What was the culture at Lehman Brothers like? How did this culture contribute to the company’s downfall?  The Lehman Brothers management encouraged excess risk taking by its employees and rewarded them handsomely for this. The management also encouraged staff that took questionable deals and punished whoever was critical of company policies. It was also very secretive in addressing the remunerations of the top management and openly filed their financial reports wrongly to please investors and attract more clients. The Lehman management was also profit oriented opting to reduce health insurance of its employees in order to maximize on profits. This shows the extent management was willing to sacrifice to fulfill the company’s appetite for money placing their staffs’ interests in the backseat. 3. What role did Lehman’s executives play in the company’s collapse? Were they being responsible and ethical? Discuss.  The Lehman management openly violated the ethics code of business. There was always something in the way of me getting my education. Graduation was over 35 years ago in 1976. I found myself not being able to move up in jobs because I did not have a degree. Everything I applied for needed that piece of paper. Being a single Mom and raising a daughter it just was not in the cards for me to attend school. There was also another fear that it may be too hard and that passing would be too much of a challenge. I found myself being very hard on myself and talking my way out of pursuing my dream. My son came along fourteen years later and now I had two children and no extra time or money. The dream continued and my daughter graduated from college. Being so proud but still feeling that void. My son registered for college and had a year under his belt. I decided I needed to at least look into it and see what it may take for me to enroll. Being excited and scared I thought my turn is going to happen so the call went into University of Phoenix as well as others and my goal began. I was in step one of my biggest decision. Step two was determining which school would be my choice. Several schools were looked at and University of Phoenix was chosen and my life was to be different from now on. Working through steps......

...Case Analysis 1 MGT 309 25 Oct 15 Christopher A. Aberle James Maddox Christopher A. Aberle MGT 309 Case Analysis 1 25 Oct 15 Introduction Gard Automotive Manufacturing (GARD), is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) which makes a range of plastic products such as window and door handles, dashboards and control knobs for light trucks and autos for U.S. auto producers. One of the companies that GARD buys from year in and out is DuPont Engineering Polymers (DEP) which has been a stable company and a top product which earned another contract this year. “Tom Lippet, sales representative for DuPont Engineering Polymers (DEP)” has been working with “Mike O’Leary, purchasing agent at GARD” for years concerning the contract who will be retiring in a few months and Richard Binish will be O’Leary’s successor. He is ready to make some changes which will bring up some questions in DEPs eyes in the business game. “In Binish’s terms, product merely becomes a ‘qualifying criterion.’ If everyone’s product is comparable, especially in something such as polymer feedstock, how do you distinguish yourself? Binish claims companies will need to demonstrate something called ‘order winning criteria’ to get our business in the future.” For DEP to keep the GARD business, they will need to improve its logistical performance to meet rising expectations from the customers. Body Certain stages are adding value in the DEP/GARD supply chain which shows what is needed to have...

...wormance Measurements University of Phoenix MGT 437 Project Management Alan Miller January 16, 2012 + Performance Measures Performance measures are used to help provide insight for the company based on the project at hand. The performance measures each look deeper in different areas of the project. A financial audit provides the company with information about how the costs are comparing to the outcome of the project. Learning and growth allows the company to get detailed information from the employees that work for them. Finally there is customer perspective. This is customer insight about the project that was being evauled. Each of these perspectives comes together in one big report for the company but all of the perspectives are different. Financial Audit Audit is a way for the company to have insight to financial matters to help determine if the project is meeting goals. The audit will review budgets, status of the project, and future of project, sales receipts, maintence, and even pay roll information. The company then has an overview of how costly or beneficial the project is. An audit for a project uses no standard system and has no records; therefore the data needs to be started when engaging the audit. Learning and Growth The learning and growth perspective allows a company to understand the employees employed. This provides information based on employee satisfaction and even retention. Learning and growth even explores the different......
