...My leadership plan Antranik Ghazarossian University of Phoenix My leadership plan Ever since I first started working in my family business, the balance between family and work has been a difficult and daunting task. As I grew up a third generation jeweler, I quickly learned the business and knew the importance to prioritize work and being professional at the work place in order to make things happen fast and successfully. When I was barley starting high school I worked two part-time jobs: one was at my sisters’ law firm and the other at the family business. The family business was a medium scale high end watch and jewelry retail and office space that distributed luxury items locally and internationally located in the heart of Los Angeles. It was very hard for me to manage two jobs and go to school but it taught me my first experiences of responsibility and obligation. Throughout this period, I have learned about myself as a leader and also about how I can improve as a leader. Leadership is a complex skill and everyone has their own unique style of leadership. Leadership is that to be a true leader I need to be able to know the problem and the solution, know how to lead others in the right direction and make a good example for them to follow, how to handle power, and how to communicate clearly and effectively (Seiter, 2011). First Experience Figuring out what the problem is and how to resolve it is a key to being a great leader. You will always face......

...of others; however, on some occasions can become stubborn. Stubbornness surfaces when his ideals and beliefs are confronted. I think the DISC assessment captures my personal characteristics well because its findings are confirmed by my 360 assessment and feedback that I have received over the years from managers, supervisors, friends, family and peers. Career Goals and Coaching Session: Prior to discussing my development plan with my career coach, Ninad Gujar, my career goal was to become an equity analyst for an asset management firm. I wanted to use this goal to get experience in the financial services industry and then move on to working with a venture capital (VC) or private equity (PE) firm that invests in healthcare companies. However, after the coaching session, I have decided to pursue my dream career in VC or PE. This will be in addition to pursuing opportunities in asset management because VC and PE are industries that are notoriously hard to break into. I expanded the scope of my career goal because of Ninad. After reading my resume and development plan, he asked me with a smile “what do you really want to do?” with great emphasis on “really.” I was a bit taken aback, so I asked, “do you mean my ideal job?” He responded in the affirmative. At the moment I was a bit hesitant but I figured “this guy may be up to something” because there wasn’t much in common with my professional experience and my career goal. So I told him that ideally I would love to combine my......

Leadership Development Plan meet the demands of the business of the environment (Byham, Smith & Paese 2002). The purpose of this paper is to create my own personal development plan based on the Central Michigan University (CMU) leadership competency model, leadership theories and personality tests. This will serve as a framework to allow me to identify my own weaknesses and strengths, and develop my leadership capacity, allowing myself to be able to achieve the vision I set for myself and the current business environment. The vision I had for myself is to enter the Marketing Industry, focusing on business development, and ultimately becoming an entrepreneur. Business development has been said to be a synthesis of strategic analysis, marketing and sales (The Editor, 2012). The competencies required are ‘strong research skills’, to evaluate the business environment, ‘people and communication skills’, to build partnership and rapport with other organization and with a ‘deal closing instinct’, to ensure closing of sales (The Editor, 2012). This leadership development plan will be helping me in preparing to be a future business development director or an entrepreneur at the end of my career. Lastly, I would seek a Major of the Singapore Armed Forces, who has seen me in a leadership role, to provide feedback on my personal leadership development plan. Central Michigan University Leadership Competency Model The Central Michigan University leadership competency model has identified leaders......

...UNIV 101-PART 2 DEVELOPMENT PLAN SAMPLE INDUSTRY OUTLOOK My desired career path is to secure a position in economic development or international economic policy; therefore, I provided research on the general outlook for economists. The Bureau of Labor Statistics documented that “53 percent of economists” are employed by the United States federal government, state government, or an affiliated agency; and the employment outlook will rise at 6% from 2008 through 2018. “Candidates who hold master’s or Ph.D. degree in economics will have the best employment prospects and advancement opportunities” where as applicants holding a bachelor’s degree will have limited access to entry level positions. As the field of economics requires advanced education, I have conducted extensive research on applicable graduate and PhD programs. The degrees I am considering include a Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master in Public Policy (MPP), Master of Arts in International Economics and Finance (MAIEF), or PhD. Program in Economics. My target schools are the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government, Bandeis University’s Lemberg Program, Duke University, and American University’s School of Public Affairs. The BLS referenced that salary ranges for economists varied greatly; the highest 10 percent of professionals earned more than $149,110 and the lowest 10 percent earn less than $44,050. I also reviewed the GS salary grades for the federal government. Based on my co-op......

Professional Development Plan

...University of Phoenix Axia College 11 Professional Development Plan Shelia Brock There are many things to consider when becoming a teacher. There are also many things to remember once the position of teaching has been reached. Having a professional development plan is something to keep in mind when beginning and going through the teaching experience. By creating this professional development plan I will be able to apply what I have learned in this class to my professional career. Here I will discuss my professional development plans to ensure that all students have a clear understanding that having an education is important and can lead to much success in their future. When many hear professional development plan, they automatically think anything that goes along with work. They will never think that their opinion or thought has anything to do with their professional development plan. Only the individual can assess their own professional development plan and know what areas they need improvement on. Professional development plans can also be tweaked a little bit when assessing it and seeing what areas needs improvement on. In the next five years I plan on completing my Associates degree in elementary education and possibly pursuing my Bachelors. I also plan to continue to work in the position that I currently hold if not assistant, then lead teacher. I also plan to explore to find out what needs to be done for me to possibly begin my own school or......

Development Plan

...When I was younger, I measured my success by how much money I made. Recently, I measure success by ensuring a happy balance between work and family time. I found this to be very hard when I added going to school into the mix. I was not sure four years ago if this could be done. However, now I see the finish line before me and it is becoming a reality. People enter college for many reasons; this was the first step in my plan for the future. About five years ago, I had an accident. During this time, I was confined to a wheelchair and could not walk. While in therapy to begin walking again, I found that without insurance and very little money, you cannot afford your medication or even a simple wheelchair. During one of my many visits to the therapist, I was introduced to medical sales. I was given free samples of the medications I needed and could not afford at the time. I begin to read everything I could get my hands on to learn about the job of a medical sales representative. I found there are two sides to this job: Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Sales Representatives. After much research, I discovered, although I loved sales, it was important to me to know I was making a difference in daily people’s lives. This caused me to choose to pursue a career in DME. I wanted to make sure that I had all of the needed qualifications to achieve this goal. Obtaining my degree was one of these qualifications. Step two was enrolling in a......

Career Development Plan

...Career Development Plan

I’ve often heard people say, “if you don’t know where you’re going, how will you get there?” (McGuire, 2008). This statement rings exceedingly true in our growing workforce. As larger corporations grow, and opportunities are merged into fewer positions, establishing a plan and pursuing a specific career course is becoming increasingly important. By determining career goals and objectives, one is capable of assessing what current skills and abilities he possesses that will be useful in attaining that position, and what training and education may be required before advancement is possible. My five-year career development plan, however, is different from the path of an employee in a corporate environment. My goal, however, is to promote the growth of the company I own, Heather's Crew.

Before setting a reasonable career course, many find it important to take an inventory of their current capabilities. During my personal skill assessment, I determined that I have the ability to manage employees, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the business, and to implement a plan of action to correct problem areas. I also have knowledge of accounting processes, as well as exceptional sales and customer service skills. Still, the most vital strength I bring to Heather's Hammers is marketing. I am talented in website design, search engine marketing, and search engine optimization. As I determine the best opportunities for my future career development, I have to......

Development Plan

...A strong Professional Development Plan is an essential asset to succeeding in any career, especially one as an educator. Such a plan not only improves initial employability but also works as a guide for motivation, direction, and self-improvement throughout one’s career. A well-designed plan includes specific career and education goals as well as an action plan for achieving those goals. For a Professional Development Plan to be effective, continual evaluation needs to be conducted to monitor personally growth and to ensure that the intended goals are met. Ultimately, failing to plan is the same as planning to fail. This paper is written from the viewpoint of a beginning teacher on her ideal vision for the future. Of course such a teacher will need to modify her goals as the circumstances and experiences demand, but the essay will present what her projected plan of action for her upcoming career will be.  Setting goals is a critical aspect of creating a professional development plan. The writer of this paper has set many educational and professional long-term and short-term goals for herself. In the next five years, the writer aims to complete both her Associate’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in the field of Elementary Education. More long-term goals, which may take 10 years or more, include continuing education all the way up to a Doctorate’s degree, teaching a variety of grades from kindergarten to 12th grade, and eventually becoming a school principle, or possibly even a......
