I Got Married
There are a lot of things in your life that will have cause and effect from medical to personal. One of the most rewarding cause and effects I can think of is when a person falls in love and gets married. Life as I know it would be completely different if I never said the words “I will” on January three. Knowing my former self I would not be very happy with myself today if I never met and married my beautiful wife. She changed my life for the better.
Before I met my wife I was a lost soul looking for something that I thought existed somewhere. All I would find though was nothing but trouble. I drank too much and hung out with the wrong crowd. The group I hung around was all about drinking and one night stands. Not getting serious with anyone no matter what. Keeping everyone at a distance ready to move on in the blink of an eye, I guess that was just part of my military mentality. I can remember countless times of waking up somewhere with someone, with no clue how I got there or who the girl was because I drank so much that I got to the point that I would passed out. When I met my wife my world changed slowly but surely for the better. I stopped hanging out with those people and more or less stopped drinking. She helped me see things in a different light, since she is one of the most responsible people I know. She showed me that there was more to life than drinking and having one night stands.
Since I met my wife my life has taken a turn for the better. I stopped crashing on other peoples floors or mine for that matter because I drank till I passed out. I now own my own house, both may cars are paid off. I am a full time student aiming towards a reliable career choice, and I have two ram-buncis children that I love and a loving wife. I went from being a drifter with nothing to show in my life to having a family.
If I never met and married my wife I would probably not be where I am today. I would still be throwing my money away on rent, liqueur, and one night stands and hanging out with the wrong crowd. I would like to say I would be worried for my health regarding my liver and STD’s, but I really don’t think I would worried about much of anything. Now instead of worrying who going to pay for the beer I am worrying about things like, will my kids be able to go to college, will I be able to afford my daughters dance lessons and if I will step on a Lego in the middle of the night.
I truly feel that my wife saved not only my life, but saved me a lot of money, hardship, and pain. I didn’t like the person I was becoming when I was younger, and I think I would still be there if it was not for her. Although sometimes stressful I like where I am in my life now and I think I owe that to my better half. I due give some credit to my kids as well though, having kids is very rewarding and it has taught me a lot.…...

The Day I Got Married

...No one knew I would awaken as a young eighteen year old and fall asleep as a married adult. My husband still believes I married him only for a day off of work and Bob Evans breakfast. The day I got married was a surprise to us all. We ourselves nor our families were expecting the day’s events. My morning started off quite typical as my fiancé and I were deciding on the breakfast he should cook as I was getting ready for work in our little one bedroom apartment. Dustin my fiancé, decided to make french toast while I showered. That is what started it all. After my shower we sat down to eat breakfast, but after the first bite we realized french toast that tasted like a cast iron skillet wasn’t going to work. We were full of jokes 10 years ago, just as we are today. After the epic fail of breakfast, we started talking about our life together, and I said, “Hey, let’s get married.” Of course he laughed at me while asking if I was serious. “Why not,” I said,” We have the rings, we can drive to Virginia and I’ll take the day off of work.” After a little talking and deciding we got ready and had our day planned out. We set off for directions and a quick tutorial from a coworker of my fiancés. Of course they thought we were crazy, but why not? We started our drive to Virginia with smiles on our faces, nervousness throughout our bodies and the growls of hungry stomachs wanting breakfast. After the six hour drive to the Virginia Courthouse, finding our way through the......

"I Do" the Day I Married the Love of My Life

...1 1/16/13 “I Do” After almost a year of planning, tasting cake, sending out invitations, finding and booking a reception hall, music DJ, and church, the day has finally arrived. The date was August 21st 2010, and it was the day I married the love of my life. The day I met Amy, and every day I have spent with her since that day has been the greatest experience of my life so far. I woke up that morning with a ton of thoughts and emotions running through my head. I felt excited, nervous, happy, and anxious all at the same time. After I got up and had something to eat, I started to get ready when I found a gift from my fiancé in my bag. It came with a card that said; “Can’t wait until I see you today. Love Always Amy”. I unwrapped the gift, opened the box and found Superman cuff links. It was the perfect gift because I am a huge Superman collector and fan. I finished getting ready and started helping my fiancé’s son Damian get dressed. I remember thinking to myself “what a perfect day”. The sun was out, and there was not a cloud in the morning sky. The weather was not the main reason the day was perfect. The day was perfect because I was marrying my best friend, and becoming the stepfather of two incredible kids that I love as if they are my own children. I finished helping Damian get dressed, and then after taking some pictures we headed over to the church. Once we arrived at the church and took some more pictures, it was time to start the service. I stood alone......

Why Did I Get Married

...Billy doesn’t believe the iron will burn his hand because it’s not fire red. Billy touches the iron and his hand is burned. Next time Billy listens to the warnings that are given to him. Some people listen from the start of the situation. Some people just listen well and will evaluate for themselves. They take a step back and decide whether or not they should do what they were told not to do. A transformational experience that I went through to bring me to my lowest point was getting married and going to the military. Little did I know I had so much to learn about what a woman expects you to do and what the military tells makes you do. I was between a rock and a hard place. I chose to leave both. First the military to smooth things over with my wife, then the wife to have a peace of mind. The phase that applies mostly to me is self evaluation. I took long hard years for me to get to this point. When you evaluate something to see what the outcome would be. I have learned just from my wife evaluating me. I call it constructive criticism. She makes sure I can’t point the finger at anyone but myself. The most important key to remember in self transformation is that you have to go through something to get where you need to be....

How I Got Here

...How I Got Here Weylon P Fontenot LBSU - 300 Brandman University Looking back how I got here uncovers a lot of old memories, both good and bad. The triumphs, the failures, the times when I was ready to give up and throw in the towel, and the times I felt like I was on top of the world and could accomplish anything. My life so far has been a string of blessings, good luck, some stumbling but ultimately successful to this point. It has not been easy, as no life is. I have learned and grown from my experiences and will hopefully continue to learn and grown. Growing up dirt floor poor in a tiny town in Southwest Louisiana I was one of five boys fighting for love, affection and sometimes food from our single mom. With not enough of any of those three things to go around; I took the first exit I had and joined the Marine Corps. Seventeen days after graduating from my tiny high school I was on my first flight ever to sunny San Diego. The Marine Corps is where I found myself. Being out on my own with the structure of the military behind me, allowed me to develop into a well-rounded young man. Living overseas for my first seven years in the Corps was an experience that had truly shaped my personality. Living in a number of third world countries like Bolivia, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Thailand to name a few, was eye opening. It showed me how good I actually had it growing up, it taught me what hard work really is, and it helped me to appreciate everything I have the......

I Got Flowers Today!

...“I Got Flowers Today” This poem is a very interesting poem, written by Paulette Kelly in 1992. The poem is obviously about a woman getting abused from the beginning stage of abuse. First he starts off calling her cruel things that really hurt her feelings, then apologizing after the fact it was already said. At his stage its emotional abuse. Then the abuse continues and more aggressively. He starts to physically abuse her, and threatened her life. She then starts to cover up herself to hide what was being done to her behind closed doors. Then her man beat her even more and she wasn’t able to hide the visible marking on her body, so she calls in sick at her employment. Then It gets worst within their relationship, She probably mention that she is tired of all the drama and abuse and wants to leave, but yet knowing that her man was the financial supporter, she didn’t leave. So s he forgives him as he say sorry again, probably promising her that “it will never happen again”. Well finally he kills her and she receives flowers for the last time. My feelings towards this poem, I actually had flashbacks of myself while I was in an abusive relationship. It started off actually just like this poem, and each time he seen tears in my eyes, marking by his fist or marking by objects thrown by him; I would always receive flowers or a gift with an apology and a promise that “it will never happen again”. So during that time in my life I’ve always told my ...

Why I Got My Mba

...Week 2 Individual Paper I decided to get my MBA for several reason. I wanted to set an example for my kids, for my own personal goals, and I want to be a dean to a college one day. I plan on getting my PHD in education. I am determined to reach my goals. “Etymologically the word education contains educare (Latin) "bring up", which is related to educere "bring out", "bring forth what is within", "bring out potential" and ducere, "to lead". (Etymonline.com). Getting my MBA will only bring out my full potential. I will be more knowledgeable, and knowledge is power. I am a single mother of three. “Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another” (Wikipedia.com). I want my kids to see me working, getting my degree, and taking care of them. As I quoted “…transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, and values from generation to another” (Wikipedia.com). What I do will transmit to them. I want them to know that it can be done. There is nothing they can not achieve if they really want it. When my kids reach the college level, there will no excuse big enough for them not to complete college. I am leading by example. I was attacked in my home in 2008. My kids and myself were sleeping when a man came in an attacked......

To the Man I Married Analysis

...Literary Piece #1 To the Man I Married Angela Manalang Gloria I You are my earth and all that earth implies: The gravity that ballasts me in space, The air I breathe, the land that stills my cries For food and shelter against devouring days. You are the earth whose orbit marks my way And sets my north and south, my east and west, Your are the final, elemental clay The driven heart must turn to for its rest. If in your arms that hold me now so near I lift my keening thoughts to another one, As trees long rooted to the earth uprear Their quickening leaves and flowers to the sun, You who are earth, O never doubt that I Need you no less because I need the sky! II I can not love you with a love That outcompares the boundless sea, For that were false, as no such love And no such ocean can ever be. But I can love you with a love As finite as the wave that dies And dying holds from crest to crest The blue of everlasting skies. In this poem, a woman metaphorically compares her husband to the earth. She considers the man she married as the “earth” that nourishes her and. Her husband provides her all her needs. Her husband gives her all the means to live. In the poem, she claims that the man she married is the reason why she survives. He is also a sure shelter to protect her from harm. He is the direction of her life. He is also the one whom she wants to be with until her life is gone. With much acknowledgement to her love for her husband, she also mentions of “another one” to......

The Day I Got to Skip School

...Kathleen Beardsell English 096 8 October 2014 The day I got to skip school It was a cool Tuesday morning when the sun peaked through my window at 6:30 A.M. I woke up frightened thinking I was late for school, knowing I have a final exam first hour. I was a normal senior with the thought of graduating on my mind, and nothing else. Waking up late became part of my schedule once the second semester of school started. I became used to rushing and making it in the class with a couple seconds to spare. I hopped up out of bed and headed for the shower. Cold showers were becoming a normal thing because if I let the shower warm up, by that time I would be late. By this time my mom is in my room wondering why I wasn’t out the door. I then get out of the shower and let my mom know I’m running late. She then realizes I need to eat and makes me some food to eat on the way. But that day was different, that was the day she got sic of making me food and rushing because I was always late. Knowing I had an exam first hour meant if I didn’t show up before the bell had rung I would fail and I would not graduate. This made me fear being late, and at the rate I was going, late seemed like a very possible situation. At the time I owned a Cadillac CTS. This was a decently fast car and I liked going fast. I’ve drove anything I could get my hands on from when I was just a little kid. Cars have always been in big interest to me. I knew how to do a lot with cars from drifting in......

How I Got There

...When I got to the daycare, children were sitting on the carpet square listening to a Chinese lady guest reading them a book about Chinese New Year. Peter as usual was sitting (not really sitting, moving his body around, and sometimes lying) in the first row listening carefully to the story and being engaged in it by giving comments about the pictures and answering the questions. When the guest asked the children to tell about their animal of the year in which they were born (the book was about Chinese New Year 2015 animal), Peter quickly raised his hand and answered that “mine is cow”. I checked it later at home since I knew his birth year and he was correct. He also claimed that he knew his mom and dad’s animals but I do not know if they were really correct. When the reader asked them to make the notices of animal pictured in the book, Peter eagerly made notices and seemed interested in doing this activity. After reading the book, the guest provided each child with a fold triangle shaped paper and asked them to cut the fold papers with scissors on the drawn marks to get a beautiful snow flake out of the paper. Children were asked to go to the tables to make their craft. Peter quickly ran to the table and took the scissors and started cutting the paper on the assigned mark. While his friends and other classmates constantly got help from the teachers to make sure which line they should cut the paper, Peter carefully but quickly cut the pattern out of the paper with no help......

"To the Man I Married" by Angela Manalang-Gloria

...the Man I Married”. A sonnet is a poem written in 14 lines that has 10 syllables each line and a very specific rhyme scheme. The sonnet “to the Man I Married” is a metaphorical way of Angela in showing how much she loves and needs her husband. This is everything that she felt for her husband even after his death. I. “You are my earth and all that earth implies: The gravity that ballasts me in space, The air I breathe, the land that stills my cries For food and shelter against devouring days. You are the earth whose orbit marks my way And sets my north and south, my east and west, Your are the final, elemental clay The driven heart must turn to for its rest.” In these lines, Angela considered her husband her earth. The earth that provides her with everything that she needs in her life. He is her earth where her food is grown. Her husband is her shelter. He is the “air” that she breathes, the one that keeps her alive. He is the one that gives her directions through the marks that the “orbit” leaves, the one that sets her north and south, her east and west. He is her final elemental clay. Not only does her earth provide her life, he also provides her place to rest by the time she rejoins the Almighty Creator. “If in your arms that hold me now so near I lift my keening thoughts to another one, As trees long rooted to the earth uprear Their quickening leaves and flowers to the sun, You who are earth, O never doubt that I Need......

I Got Mi

...I Got….Myocardial Infarction 1. My initial response was to laugh because it is not a diagnosis that I thought I would ever hear. I am very slender and athletic and my cholesterol levels are all well under control. I do know that to get to the point of an MI, means that I more than likely have arteries full of plaque which ultimately leads to a sudden and extended obstruction of blood supple to myocardial tissue. My brain is already spinning in curiosity of the severity of ischemia in my left ventricle. What is even more scary to me, as a woman, is the higher risk of silent ischemia in women. Silent ischemia doesn’t produce any symptoms when the heart experiences ischemic events. So I guess after the shock wears off, that is when the “oh shit” moment is about to happen. 2. Myocardial Infarction(MI) is also known as a heart attack. MI results when the flow of oxygen rich blood to a myocardium suddenly becomes blocked. If blood flow is not restored quickly, this results in cellular death by necrosis or apoptosis. Acute MI is an important form of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). MI can occur at any age, but the risk of frequency raises with age progression. It is estimated that MI causes more than 150,000 deaths annually in the US. The American male has a greater than 1 in 5 chance of sustaining an MI or fatal ischemic event before the age of 65. Females that are younger than 45 have a 6 fold lesser risk of MI than men of the same age, however after menopause the rate......

...Repollo, HonieletteFrancesca L. Professor Franchesca Borras PS203 March 19, 2016 Child Prostitution as a Form of Work: An Analysis of “Neneng” by Merlinda Bobis I. Introduction Background of the study Child is as innocent as water during spring time but nowadays children are typically faced to what reality is, that many people are poor, they are now faced to this problem that they tend to shoulder what an adult is experiencing. Poverty is the typical problem known by them, they saw their parents suffering at work just to make an everyday living because of this some help their parents to work even if it means not going to school and not being able to play like any other children at their age, some were forced by their parents to work so that these children would be able to go to school and have their own money without suffering the budget for the family. Prostitution is rampant not only here in the Philippines but around the world, though every country were fighting against it still the cases grew larger and larger each year and some people involved in this case are children. It is a wide spread illness that can’t be easily eliminated and some people blame poverty as the reason why they engage in this kind of activity, it became their source of income whether they like it or not. It seem that this kind of activity is not only present in today’s generation rather its presence is as old as time, it doesn’t cease to exist even if many years have pass and the cases......
