Season I Like Most

...I like summer the most. This may seem Stanger, but it is a fact for me. Let me first narrate the good and the bad sides of the seasons clearly. In summer, the heat becomes oppressive. It causes physical hardship that sometimes become unbearable. We feel easily tired. What with the heat and the sweat and the dust and the flies at times, it is positively maddening. On the other hand, the general health is usually good. The discomforts caused by cold season ailments of digestion, common in the rainy season, practically do not exist in this stern season. Further, the sultry and humid heat of noonday is usually compensated by the refreshing breeze that blows in at about evening. And then a thunder-shower or two brings down the temperature and gives us a pleasant respite. Summer has richer compensations that make it so dear to me. First, there is the mango, the world's wonder-fruit. Next, there is the joy of playing football, the world's most popular game. As soon as the sea-breeze begins to blow across the fields, out we go with our ball, and then there is a joy of having a refreshing bath that follows. It cools the body and soothes the mind. At what season, again, is the sweetness of an ice-cream or a cold drink so deliciously inviting? At night we may sleep under the electric fan or the open sky, refreshed by the breeze. In summer, we can go up a hill-side station or down to a seaside resort and both are equally welcome. Above all, their is the charm of the long......

...WHO AM I? “Live life for the moment because everything else is uncertain” ~Louis Tomlinson Everybody has a different view about the world. Everyone has a different opinion on how people should act and what traits make a person good. Some may consider loyalty, honesty and tolerance to be very important. I agree that these traits are important, but I believe that the most essential trait is to be optimistic. I also think having a sense of humor and a smile is very important.  Voltaire once said “Life is a shipwreck but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboat.” This is one of my favorite quotes. Human existence isn’t flawless; however why we should dwell on imperfections when we can live with smiles with the almost faultless instead. I believe that life is too short to waste on negativity and that we should always look at the bright side of things. A smile is one of the only gestures preformed and understood by everybody in the world; you smile in the same language. It’s a universal welcome. A simple smile has the power to make someone’s day. If you smile at someone they will most likely smile back. Therefore, smile all the time, the whole planet will pretty soon wear a happy grin. I believe that life is very much like a mirror: we get the best results when we smile at it.  To conclude, this is my philosophy of life: Laugh your heart out, think optimistically, and don’t forget to smile. To me, a role model is someone who influences the way I live my life. A role......

...1.) Place yourself in the role of the manager. What should you do now? After considering what happened, would you change any of your behaviors? If I was Pat: Even though Fred wants me to fire Dinah, I believe that if I was to fire her, Dinah would file a lawsuit for wrongful discharge. My values and morals should not be the deciding factor in determining if Dinah’s actions are grounds for dismal. As such, I would meet with Fred, and explain to him the result of my lunch meeting with Dinah. At this time I would request , and even demand if need be, a meeting with the VP of Human Resources, Fred, Mr. Leed, the head of MAGREC, Inc. and MAGREC’s legal counsel. During this meeting all facts would be disclosed as well as my discussions with Dinah and her issues concerning the matter. I understand why Dinah did what she did. However, my understanding cannot decide how MAGREC should move forward with this situation. My recommendation would be to not fire Dinah but to give her the following options: A.) allow her to remain in her current role, B.) allow her to transfer to a new role and under a different chain of command, or C.) allow her to resign with a suitable severance package. These issues with Partco will more than likely have an impact not just on pricing with our other customers, there is a high likelihood that the trust our customers have in MAGEC to deliver an exceptionally high quality and dependable product will be impacted. The reality is that people talk and soon word......

...As my first source of primary research I visited a local design studio named Strawman Creative. This company being one of my more crucial visits as they were currently doing design work for a big beer brand. This interview had intent for me to learn industry processes whilst an input from Jon Groom (man interviewed) on the types I things I should know both about the drinks and branding. Coming away from this I learnt about drinks in general as well as the identity behind them epically with big corporate and independent drink brands. I was also given research tips to look up on including: products that are currently out there and see them in use by visiting stores, see the kind of people buying those drinks and the background of the chosen drink category. When first discussing the identity of drinks I soon learnt that the content really doesn’t matter especially with alcoholic beverages as it sways more to perception and association. When buying drinks Groom told me that even when drinks I brewed in the same brewery but displayed under a different name for one being a cheaper and less stronger known company people will always go for higher more expensive brand as they don’t want to be seen with something cheaper. People not want to be seen with stores own drink because people judge others by the value so people are just paying more for the brand. This is were perception and association comes in were if its seen to be more expensive and a higher tier of quality and......

How could I be friends with somebody so mean? “Choi Sung Woo why are you so mean?” “What?” Sung Woo looked seriously at me. “You want me to lie?” Sung Woo had this funny habit of leaving me speechless, even if I had already heard his insults a thousand times before. “Choi Sung Woo, I hate you.” Sung Woo laughed and flicked me lightly on the forehead. “No you don’t,” he teased. “You love me, Kim Eun Sung.” [[ In the Beginning ]] I remember walking into class on the first day, and seeing Choi Sung Woo in the seat next to mine. I remember thinking that school was going to be hell this year, with Sung Woo in my class. We had a funny friendship, Sung Woo and I. “Eun Sung ah.” Sung Woo sounded serious. “Do you consider me a close friend, or just a friend?” I paused in whatever I was doing. Whatever I had been expecting to hear from Sung Woo, this was definitely on the bottom of the list. “Well do you consider me as a close friend or just a friend?” Sung Woo didn’t even need to think about it. “A close friend.” I don’t remember if I was smiling – it felt like I was. “Me too.” In the beginning, I didn’t know what to think when Choi Sung Woo started calling me. The Ethical Philosopher I Like

...Ethical philosophy I want After carefully going through the ethical philosophies we looked at I found that I can identify myself with utilitarianism. Utilitarianism refers to how one come to choose an action or choice based on what is right and what is wrong. It refers that a person chooses something to be right if what is chosen brings or increases happiness to that person and to other people. Utilitarianism is against the idea of being selfish. Something is wrong if it brings pain to the person or if it causes pain to others. So with utilitarianism there is emphasis on the interests of others as much as there need for the person making the decision to benefit. On top of what have been said utilitarianism is also based on the principle of utility. The principle of utility states that a rational person does something that brings the most satisfaction or benefit. In my life I like to do things that please not only me but others. I avoid things that are likely to bring displeasure to other people. As a religious person I grew with the idea of putting other people’s interests as much as mine. I do not like to do things that hurt other people. The question of utility to me is very important. I did Economics at high school, where we learned about the essence of maximising satisfaction. This satisfaction can be to me, to my family, to other people in the community or to my country When you use utilitarianism, there are basic steps a person may take in making decisions or on......

Black Like Me Review

...Black Like Me Review By: David L. Middleton 06 December 2009 AASP201/0909 Prof. Fleetwood Did you ever wonder what it was like for a white man to be black in the South during the end of the 1950’s? A procedure to darken the skin was possible and was done in 1959. In Black Like Me, by John Howard Griffin, he explains and identifies how African Americans are treated differently and harshly due solely to the color of skin, by changing his own skin color to that of a black man. This book was written to provide America with hands-on experience of the daily life of a black man and help provide a possible solution to help America with the race problem. The role of race and skin color has a big impact on the community and way of life in Black Like Me. John Howard Griffin traveled throughout the South during the months of 1959 and leading into 1960 for an original purpose of scientific research study of African Americans but it soon changed to allowing America to know of his experience living as a black man.John Howard Griffin questioned, “if a white man became a Negro in the Deep South, what adjustments would he have to make? What is it like to experience discrimination based on skin color, something over which no one has no control?” These questions are the foundations for the purpose of Black Like Me. He believed to understand or learn the truth, a white man had to become an African American. John Howard Griffin will have traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana,......
