...RUNNING HEAD: IM/IT Analysis IM/IT Analysis Barbara C. Hagerman Dr. Chad Moretz Health Information Systems July 29, 2012 1. Discuss the five (5) major components of information management/information technology (IM/IT) governance with a focus on how they will collectively improve the quality of health care. IM/IT governance helps the organization make business decisions more accurately and in a timelier manner (Glandon, Smaltz, Slovensky, 2008). In order to complete this, five general guidelines were created. They are as follows: Develop a consistent IT strategy, Align IT Planning with Organizational Planning, Develop IT Infrastructure, Architecture and Policies, Set IT Project Priorities and Oversee Investments and Be able to assess IT’s contribution. In order to develop a consistent IT strategy, the plan created must apply across all operating units within the organization. Next, the plan must align with IT planning and organizational planning. Alignment would involve three essential elements for success. First, an alignment of purpose must be in place. IM/IT leadership and organizational leadership must agree that they are trying to achieve the same ends. Second, they must agree to work to develop goals and tactics jointly to meet those ends. Third, these two groups must share the responsibility and accountability to achieve the ends (Stacey, Skinner, 2005). Because plans may change over a period of time,......

...IM/IT Analysis Patricia D. Barringer Strayer University Health Services Administration HSA 599 Dr. Kadrie Mountasser April 29, 2012 IM/IT Analysis The issue of public health and its subsequent impact on society as a whole is becoming a very contentious issues for government. In the midst of an election year, public health issues such as Medicare, social security, and disease prevention are all becoming more prevalent. In the state of New Jersey, public health is no different in this regard. According to U.S. Public Health Service, over the last century, the average life span of an America grew by 30 years. 25 of those years are attributed to an increase in public health services. As such, decisions make by governments on the federal, state, and local level will have a profound impact on the community. First, as is the case with many communities, state governments rely heavily on tax revenue as their primary source of income. In the midst of a global recession, those entities that rely heavily on income tax revenue ultimately suffer as those who provide the tax revenue are unemployed. Further compounding this issue is that fact that many individuals who were formally employed full time are now employed part time. As such, their taxable income is significantly diminished. With this diminished revenue, budgets must ultimately be cut to correspond to the reduced inflow of revenue. Now in regards to expenditures two-thirds of spending is for personal......

...Dear Mayor Adam & Town Manager Smith, You, Sirs, Need IMS. You look out of your window at Town Hall to see the city in ruins, lone policemen cut off from the rest of their units, firefighters in burning rubble with no idea where they are, and worse, nobody knows they are lost in the fray. Riots have begun explode out of control, and when response to unrest by authorities is slow and uncoordinated, things turn ugly. Chain-of-command has completely broken down, US Army generals are being knocked off their feet by firefighters ordered to prevent them from entering the area, phone and power lines are down across the city hampering communication, and looters are running rampant in a state of anarchy. National Guardsmen unleash a hail of bullets toward a two-family home after a police officer yells ‘cover me!’. Are the levees compromised, or not? You can’t get a straight answer. Your emergency management plans provided one-stop solutions that weren't applicable, scalable, or adaptable to more complex situations, like the ones you are now facing. And eventually, the people are going to blame this lack of preparedness and proper response on you, putting an end to a fine career of public service. But it doesn't have to be this way. In fact, you can save your city and your career by supporting and implementing an Incident Management System – you might even be able to swing some extra federal funding your way in the form of emergency preparedness grants! Although we do......

...“The difficulty in life is the choice”, 1 100% agree with this quote George Moore indeed would have gotten a vote from me when it came to come true this actually is. To explain his quote in other words; he’s stating the hardships and difficultly in life can most likely be avoided , you step into it and enhance it more that’s where the difficulty comes in which in some many ways could have probably be avoided . The book “Twelve Angry Men” by Reginald Roses is definitely a prime example of chosen difficulty when in many ways it could have been avoided. The teenager in the book “Twelve Angry Men” was on trial for the manslaughter of his own father. In my opinion that teen was all the way guilty. But majority of the 12 jurors saw him as innocent. Some pledged his innocence by justifying the manslaughter by saying he was “ a product of his environment” , claiming the boy grew up in the slums , had it bad all his life , from the robbing’s to the car theft even the stabbing his was involved in with another teen. But let’s be real it wasn’t mandatory for this teen to do those things. In all reality that young boy did those wrong doing himself all by his lonesome. Of course probably his environment gave him ideas and the thoughts in his head, but let’s thinks did the environment put the knife in his hand and forced him to kill his father? No right, so why the environment is the one to blame when it came to this boy reasons for killing his own father? No one lead him down the path of...

IM/IT ANALYSIS Determine, within the healthcare setting, the main features, capabilities, and operational benefits to a health care organization using the following: patient care applications, management and enterprise systems, e-Health applications, strategic decision-support applications. A patient care application has improved the health care efficiency, quality, safety, and cost. As a nurse, I know that the technology over the years has made nursing a lot easier. Nurses who have come before me have stated that it was increasing complex due to no computer systems, medication machines and paper medical records. Before extensive application of technology, nurses relied heavily on their senses of sight, touch, smell, and hearing to monitor patient status and......

In this sim, what variables are you seeing? Write the formula below, and indicate the units used to measure each one. 2. Try increasing the resistivity of the resistor, . How does this change the “look” of the resistor? Describe how that relates to the formula you just wrote (direct, indirect relationships, etc.). What happens to the value of “R” (Resistance)? Is this something that can be changed in a resistor that you would buy in a store to use in a circuit? 3. If you increase the length (L) what happens to “R”? WHY? 4. If you increase the area (A) of the resistor. What changes? WHY? 5. Write a summary about the different relationships you looked at in the properties and measurements of a resistor. “Ohm’s Law”: In this sim, vary the values of Resistance (R), Current (I) and Voltage (V). 1. What are three different combinations of I and R which get a voltage of 6.0 Volts? 2. Describe the relationship between I and R. Why is this? 3. What would happen if you could decrease the resistance to 0? Explain....

...both cases as a personal was trying to organize information in a deliverable manner to others or his/herself. The term “information management” may be quite unfamiliar to general public. People would think that it might be related to computer science and information technology, which are newly brought out in this century. By the Dr. T.D. Wilson (University of Sheffield), information management refers to how information is acquired, organized, controlled and disseminated (Wilson). Indeed, information management has long been existed and “living” with us. Experts have different comments on Information management models. Some said models are typically wrong in nature but somehow useful (Box & Draper 1987). To summarise the features of IM model, it could be the representation of structure or diagnostic tool (HKU). This essay introduces four information management models and how they are involved in daily life. Each model would be illustrated with certain examples to let readers have a better understanding. In this essay, four information management models are discussed, namely Shannon Weaver Communication Model, 5 Rings Information Model, Kuhlthau’s Research Model and Information Transfer Cycle. A. Shannon Weaver Communication Model Shannon Weaver Communication Model is a cycle with several stages and steps published in 1948, titled “A Mathematical Theory of Communication”. It became an important finding in communication studies. The graph below shows the detail of...

Im Just Me

...Carmen Castillo Professor Debartolo Expository Writing EN109-60 September 26, 2012 I’m Just Me Everyone has a history of where they come from and the variety of things they do within their culture. In my perspective peoples culture is what makes them a whole. I’m Dominican. My life consists of excitement and happiness. From the delicious foods, to the jumping music. My world revolves around my culture. I and my family have different occasions which we celebrate differently. In our world we tend to make everyone happy. Even though I wasn’t born in Dominican Republic I still carry it within me. My mother, father, brothers and sister were born in Dominican Republic. I was the only one that was born in the United States but I was actually made in Dominican Republic. We were all raised Dominican style as anyone would say. We speak, write and read fluent Spanish. We also have the accent which is recognized by any Dominican. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought adjusting to the variety of things that are totally different in DR. Like every 3 years we would go to Dominican Republic. I can truly say that it is completely different as time goes by. And I realized the difference. In the DR you would see the children on the streets playing baseball, hopscotch, playing with dolls, riding bicycles and everything you would see a typical child do. Here in the United States it would be very difficult for you to see the children playing outdoors. Just for the simple fact that......

Me, Me Me

...In January 2008 a British journalist, Sarfraz Manzoor, wrote an article with the title “Me, Me, Me” that appeared in the magazine “Esquire”. He gives his opinion on how the phenomenon “New Narcissism” has its influences on today’s society through the Internet. And he leaves us with the impression that there is a reason to be worried about today's youth being more narcissistic than ever before. Narcissism is not new for us. New Narcissism is a modern version of the phenomenon narcissism. And it has been known since ancient Greece with the Greek myth about Narcissus that fell in love with his own reflection in the water. The man that got narcissism recognized as a medical condition was Sigmund Freud (l. 53). But in our age, the word, narcissism, does not seem that serious and is mostly defined as a phenomenon. This New Narcissism has come to life because society reproduces itself (l. 59). And growing numbers of people are more narcissistic according to a study performed by psychologists. Sarfraz Manzoor, who has written this article, describes that New Narcissism is the offspring of today’s society. He makes an example by including a person named Chris Crocker. Crocker became famous because he put a video on the Internet where he defended the celebrity Britney Spears. There can be two reasons for his behaviour. Is he doing this to tell people that they shall back off and because he is fond of her? Or is he doing this to get attention? But it does not seem as if Britney is......

...to youth all over the world. This book has changed my perspective on life in three ways. First, it has taught me to love and appreciate myself; second, it has given me an understanding of why bullies treat people the way they do, and, lastly, it has taught me to believe in myself and what I can accomplish. As Sharon Flakes said in this novel, “Gotta realize that all you are is all you got.” (Flake 23) Maleeka use to be proud of her skin until her father died and kids started picking on her. Maleeka wanted so bad to be light skinned so that people wouldn’t tease her. In the end she realized that regardless of whom she is, she will have some type of flaw and not all of them can be seen by the eye. Sharon Flake also quoted “To look in the mirror and like what you see even if it's not your idea of beauty”. (Flake 33) I can relate to Maleeka because I have always had bad skin and struggles with acne. Now I have learned to accept my flaws because I know it’s something that I can’t change. Because Maleeka’s family was poor, her mother had to sew their clothes, which was nowhere near appealing to the average teenager. I popular girl named Charlese agreed to be Maleeka’s friend and give her clothes if Maleeka does Char’s homework. Maleeka is bullied many times by Char just because Maleeka wants Char’s clothes so that she could stand out in the crowd. This situation helped me to realize why bullies act the way they do. Kids bully other kids thinking it makes them look cool;......

Where a security association or TLS session exists, the UE shall discard any SIP request that is not protected by the security association or TLS session and is received from the P-CSCF outside of the registration and authentication procedures. The requirements on the UE within the registration and authentication procedures are defined in subclause 5.1.1. If an initial request contains an Accept-Contact header field containing the g.3gpp.icsi-ref media feature tag with an ICSI value, the UE should invoke the IMS application that is the best match for the ICSI value. If an initial request contains an Accept-Contact header field containing the g.3gpp.iari-ref media feature tag with an IARI value the UE should invoke the IMS application that is the best match for the IARI value. The UE can receive multiple ICSI values, IARI values or both in an Accept-Contact header field. In this case it is up to the implementation which of the multiple ICSI values or IARI values the UE takes action on. NOTE 1: The application verifies that the contents of the request (e.g. SDP media capabilities, Content-Type header field) are consistent with the the ICSI value in the g.3gpp.icsi-ref media feature tag and IARI value contained in the g.3gpp.iari-ref media feature tag.
