Jeffrey Bezos is the CEO of the largest retail website in today’s society, Amazon.com.[1] I am an avid Amazon shopper, which is why I decided to profile their CEO and take a deeper look into the booming corporation. A special type of person is needed to run a fortune 500 company such as Amazon.com. Jeffrey Bezos has been one of the most successful CEO’s that society has seen. He has proven his success by founding Amazon.com, a company that is now ranked 56 out of all fortune 500 companies, and he continues to display his knowledge of his product by improving it yearly even with a little background in the internet field.

Bezos continued to show his success after only two years in which his company’s shares were greater than Barns and Nobles and Borders combined.3 In 2011, Amazon reached the rank of 56 out of all fortune 500 companies.1 The company made over 48 million dollars in revenue in 2011.1 From starting in a garage to know being the top online retail service, Jeffrey Bezos has proven his success as CEO of Amazon.

...Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Jeff Bezos, the leader, had a wide set of values that he obviously followed in all the different decisions he took. The clearest ones are that he is creative, ambitious, broad minded, adventurous, courageous, intellectual and helpful. He has been creative as he thought out of the box and used some statistics about the internet usage rate along with the idea that books isn't a thing that people would need to see and try before buying to mix them together and start the all new idea of selling books online, and thus started a small company based on a dream from his house and then shifted to an office. That was clear in the Harvard business review quoting "Given the attributes of the product and the structure of the supply chain, a no bricks retailer could clearly make it and make it big!". along with creativity came ambition and adventure where his ambition took him a step at a time into new opportunities of renting storage spaces, and allowing bidders to jump in, and compare their prices, it made it clear to customers that Amazon cares a lot about them and wants for them the best bid generating more customer loyalty and satisfaction. He was an intellect when he needed to be one as clear in the Fortune magazine interview saying " he concocted a business plan" meaning he wasn’t all dreamy without facing reality, he also cared about figures and plans to guarantee the idea's success. Helpfulness also came along the way mentioning in the New York state......

Jeffrey Dahmer

...Jeffrey Dahmer Reed Criminology Instructor Steven Cable Word count: 787 words Abstract Jeffrey Dahmer was an intensely troubled child who grew up in an environment rejecting him fuelling his loneliness. As an adult his instability only escalated. This has revealed that parental upbringing is of core importance in a child’s development of social skills. As seen with Jeffrey Dahmer he did not receive that socialization bond be it with his parent or other people in his life. All the way through his childhood, Jeffrey Dahmer was ignored and developed a way of perceiving himself as an outsider, rejected by society. This loneliness and sense of rejection grew until it aggravated his compulsion to commit the monstrous crimes of murder, necrophilia, and cannibalism. As seen from his biography he didn’t have close relationships that could have deterred him from committing the crime as the social control theory suggests. In his loneliness Jeffrey filled that void with dismembering animals, a behavior later seen in his crimes. It can thus be concluded that creation and nurturing of social bonds are very essential in childhood socialization and in the development of stable psychological state of mind. Jeffrey Dahmer’s Criminal Theories Jeffrey Dahmer has had many different theories applied to him, such as the social control theory, rational choice theory, and many other psychological theories. The sociological theory of deviance that best fits the criminal behavior of......

In the end, we are our choices. —Jeff Bezos, commencement speech at Princeton University, May 30, 2010 Prologue In the early 1970s, an industrious advertising executive named Julie Ray became fascinated with an unconventional public-school program for gifted children in Houston, Texas. Her son was among the first students enrolled in what would later be called the Vanguard program, which stoked creativity and independence in its students and nurtured expansive, outside-the-box thinking. Ray grew so enamored with the curriculum and the community of enthusiastic teachers and parents that she set out to research similar schools around the state with an eye toward writing a book about Texas’s fledgling gifted-education movement. A few years later, after her son had moved on......

Jeffrey Dahmer

...Forensic Chemistry Jeffrey Dahmer: The Milwaukee Monster It was May 21st, 1960 when Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lionel Dahmer and Joyce Flint. Dahmer was raised there as an only child. He was a child that was full of life, interested in everything you would assume your average boy to be interested in. He loved to wrestle with his father and help him around the house all the time. Outgoing and curious, Dahmer was everything any set of new parents could ask for and more. One thing interesting was his early fascination for animals. He loved to help his dad clear the animal bones from under the house where animals had died. As the bones were dropped in to a bucket, Dahmer was overwhelmed with joy at the sounds they made. As he grew older, the fascination of the sound of bones became a fascination with turning animals in to just bone - he began to kill them. In 1968, Dahmer’s family moved to Akron, Ohio to a small town call Bath in the Bath Township. That same year, he became a brother to David Dahmer. It seems as though from that point on things started going downhill for Dahmer. As he neared junior high, Dahmer became much more introverted. Although he was always the class clown throughout both junior high and high school, students still knew something seemed to be off with Jeffrey Dahmer. As Dahmer grew from the boy he was in to the teenager he was becoming, he was going through a hard time in his life. His parents marriage had been......

Mark Bezos

...The inspirational speech that I have chosen is ‘Mark Bezos: A life lesson from a volunteer firefighter’. Mark begins by telling us a story of an act of heroism that didn’t quite go how he intended. He is a volunteer firefighter who showed up 2nd to the fire scene. The captain, in charge of assigning tasks, tells the first volunteer to go to the apartment and retrieve the dog of the homeowner, whose house was now in flames. He then tells Mark to go upstairs and get some shoes for the barefooted homeowner. Mark was disappointed in having such a simple task be appointed to him, but did it anyway. A few weeks later the homeowner sends the firefighters a letter thanking them for their service and most importantly, for the kind act of getting her a pair of shoes. The reason I found this speech so inspiring is because it speaks to me logically (logos). After telling us his story, he goes on to tell us the importance of small details and how there’s no better time to do a good deed than the present. Something we all know is that once time passes, it is never coming back. So why don’t we try to make the best out of every moment? Most of us are unfortunately always sitting around and waiting for the perfect moment to come, not knowing that the perfect moment is literally passing us by. Even the simplest of acts play a role in another person’s life. In the words of Mark Bezos “not every day is going to offer us a chance to save somebody's life, but every day offers us an opportunity to...

Dahmer, Jeffrey

...Mia Alonzo Mr. Oliverez English 2 8 May 2016 Jeffrey Dahmer There are plenty of serial killers in American history. Devastating as it may be, they’re still a part of it. There have been hundreds of serial killers documented and identified over the decades in America (statistics), but there have been a handful that have stood out from the rest. One of them was a man named Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer. Given the circumstances of his murders, his psychological profile, or just the initial public shock of it all, it all stems from where he started- his childhood. He stood out from the rest of America’s 20th century serial killers, and for a good reason. Jeffrey Dahmer was known as as The Milwaukee Cannibal and The Milwaukee Killer. These nicknames, given by the media provided a hook, and ensured their story be read or heard. He he was convicted of rape, murder, taking the lives 17 men and boys throughout a span of 13 years, from 1978 to 1991 (CBS). Jeffrey Dahmer’s killings involved necrophilia, cannibalism, the preservation of body parts, and lobotomy (crime museum). Lobotomy was a psychosurgery procedure that involved inserting a long metal “pick” of sorts and inserting it through either the nose, or through the gap above the eye to the to the frontal lobe of the brain. It was used to treat, ironically, severe psychological disorders in the 1940’s and 50’s (How Stuff Works). He was obviously not performing one for medical reasons, but instead just to satisfy his sexual......

Jeffrey Dahmer

...Jeffrey Dahmer was born May 21st, 1960, the first child for Lionel and Joyce Dahmer, after a difficult pregnancy that had Joyce on various prescription drugs. Jeff and his little brother David were raised in Bath Township, Ohio. Unlike many other killers, Jeffreys parents were not abusive. Joyce had some relatively mild psychological problems, but Lionel tried to be as loving a father as possible, struggling to reach his quiet and isolated son. As a small child, Jeff seemed happy enough, playing with his dog or riding his bike, but was fascinated with death. When Lionel removed some animal bones from under the porch, the remains of small creatures killed by small local predators, Jeff seemed quite pleased by the sound they made dropping back into the bucket. His father dismissed it as childhood curiosity. Jeff was the class clown, known for doing things as ridiculous as faking seizures for laughs. In fact, he was lonely and isolated in school, with few friends. By high school, he was a full-blown alcoholic, drinking before, after, and even during class. When his parents divorced, his father was the one to move out of the house. When Jeff was 18, Joyce took David and left. Jeffrey was alone in the house with little food and a broken refrigerator until his father and his new wife found out about the situation and moved into the house. Trying to help his son, Lionel assisted Jeffrey get into the University of Ohio. But it was already too lateJeff Dahmer......
