1.) Place yourself in the role of the manager. What should you do now? After considering what happened, would you change any of your behaviors? If I was Pat: Even though Fred wants me to fire Dinah, I believe that if I was to fire her, Dinah would file a lawsuit for wrongful discharge. My values and morals should not be the deciding factor in determining if Dinah’s actions are grounds for dismal. As such, I would meet with Fred, and explain to him the result of my lunch meeting with Dinah. At this time I would request , and even demand if need be, a meeting with the VP of Human Resources, Fred, Mr. Leed, the head of MAGREC, Inc. and MAGREC’s legal counsel. During this meeting all facts would be disclosed as well as my discussions with Dinah and her issues concerning the matter. I understand why Dinah did what she did. However, my understanding cannot decide how MAGREC should move forward with this situation. My recommendation would be to not fire Dinah but to give her the following options: A.) allow her to remain in her current role, B.) allow her to transfer to a new role and under a different chain of command, or C.) allow her to resign with a suitable severance package. These issues with Partco will more than likely have an impact not just on pricing with our other customers, there is a high likelihood that the trust our customers have in MAGEC to deliver an exceptionally high quality and dependable product will be impacted. The reality is that people talk and soon word will get around within our customer base regarding this issue. Our customers will begin to wonder if they too have purchased or are currently purchasing inferior product. As such, I would also recommend that MAGREC create a Business Practice Officer (BPO) position. Any individual, without threat of retaliation, can bring forth anonymously any issues that they find to be a violation of the…...

...than I have been given by you. I love you, too. These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which, as they kiss, consume. Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene VI PREFACE I FELT LIKE I WAS TRAPPED IN ONE OF THOSE TERRIFYING nightmares, the one where you have to run, run till your lungs burst, but you can't make your body move fast enough. My legs seemed to move slower and slower as I fought my way through the callous crowd, but the hands on the huge clock tower didn't slow. With relentless, uncaring force, they turned inexorably toward the end–the end of everything. But this was no dream, and, unlike the nightmare, I wasn't running for my life; I was racing to save something infinitely more precious. My own life meant little to me today. Alice had said there was a good chance we would both die here. Perhaps the outcome would be different if she weren't trapped by the brilliant sunlight; only I was free to run across this bright, crowded square. And I couldn't run fast enough. So it didn't matter to me that we were surrounded by our extraordinarily dangerous enemies. As the clock began to toll out the hour, vibrating under the soles of my sluggish feet, I knew I was too late–and I was glad something bloodthirsty waited in the wings. For in failing at this, I forfeited any desire to live. The clock tolled again, and the sun beat down from the exact center point of the sky. 1. ...years to create who I am today. Within these years, I have been given the freedom to explore the world in order to satisfy my curiosity toward all the strange and wonderful things in the world around me. I grew up in a healthy family. I had an elder sister and a younger brother and this made my childhood days more colorful. My parents both had stable careers and this provided us with more opportunities to learn what we desired to. I remember when I was a young boy; my parents bought us a piano. I have been exploring music ever since my sister started taking piano lessons. This affected me so much that I insisted to my parents that I also wanted to learn piano. So I started my musical journey and continue it to this day. I finally completed my grade eight piano with a merit. After all the hardship I went through, success was finally shown in my result. I did not end my music after I went to secondary school. There, I joined the Chinese Orchestra Society. My purpose in joining this society was to learn more about my own traditional culture's music. I took a position in strings and my musical instrument is named "erhu". It is a traditional Chinese musical instrument similar to the violin. Instead of having 4 strings, an erhu only has two strings which can also produce beautiful musical notes as a violin does. I absolutely love the erhu and I have discovered that with the my background in piano, I am learning with tremendous speed. My teacher said that I am bestowed with......

Me Myself and I

...Me, Myself & I By Andrea Bridglal Everyone is born into this world innocent. How you live your life, day by day, the decisions you make, now that’s what really affects you. Sometimes, it might not always be your fault. There are people who will always try to bring you down. They’ll try to hurt you. There will always be someone to tell you that you aren’t good enough. If you let it affect you, now that’s on you. That was my mistake. Growing up in New York City, with a single parent, isn’t the most difficult thing in the world, but it sure isn’t that easy. My parents have been divorced since I was three and I never really had any kind of relationship with my dad. He’s an alcoholic and growing up, I realized I would never have the bond that I wanted to have with him. Unfortunately, it took me way to long to realize that. Instead, I pushed away the people who did care and those who did try to be there for me; my grandparents, my uncle, and most importantly, my mom. I felt like I was alone even though I wasn’t. Not only did I push people away, I found it very difficult to let people in. On top of that, I was different. I come from a West Indian, Islamic background and growing up as a minority made it even harder to make friends. September 11, 2001 changed my life completely. No, I didn’t lose a loved one but I did lose something with equal value, self respect. My self-esteem was shot at 7 years old. I became ashamed of who I am, the color of my skin, the texture of...

...Styles After taking the LSI (Life Styles Inventory) survey, I noticed certain things about my personality and my thinking styles. Certain styles rated higher than others, but there were a few that stayed constant. The two longest style extensions have the greatest influence on my behavior, and are called your primary and backup styles. Going through these styles in particular, I noticed my primary style is approval and my backup style is conventional style. In the LSI index, “The Approval scale measures our need to be accepted by others to increase or sustain our feelings of self-worth. While the desire to be approved of is natural, problems occur when approval-seeking becomes a need, and ultimately our standard way of interacting with others.” This means I need people to approve my lifestyle. I try so hard for people to impress people with my personality and character, but sometimes it’s not enough. This style is categorized as having low self-esteem, an over concern with wanting to be liked as well as complications with conflict and confrontation. In this case, I am the type of person who tries very hard to be liked by others. Sometimes it can backfire because I show a persona of myself to people where I will act like someone I am not so that they accept me. In this world we live in, it’s a dog eat dog world where people don’t care about your feelings. They will do anything to get to the top of ladder. Personally, I am the type of person who truly feels better when......

Me, I and Myself

...Me, I and myself I always ask myself: is it me, when I do something; could I do it better this time or did I do it for myself. I have time to think about these things while working. I work as a photographer and this job gives me a chance to express myself. It helps me even to understand some things better, because at first view I see things one’s way but after a while a see them completely different. The job gives me even the freedom to choose what to shoot and so the theme of my pictures often responds to my mood at that day. Or I can take pictures that will make me feel better than I do at that moment. Being a photographer is a job with so many various purposes – as many as the people are. Some photographers make only black and white pictures, other make colorful or extravagant or pictures that help in a science. The objective of the camera is like an eye of a man - everyone sees the world in a different way. But nobody can’t hide behind his work, even if he tries – it shows what we are. The most important thing for a picture to become a good one is to have its own feeling. When you a see a picture and it touches you, it rises in you some kind of feeling, that means that this capture was worth. Looking at some pictures make me think about many things and sometimes I can even change my point of view about something. While taking a picture I think about what’s my purpose for shooting exactly this or that. But after the picture is ready, it......

Am I Talking to Me

...Am I Talking to Me? By Izzy Gesell The Power of Internal Dialogue to Help or Hinder Our Success Good communication skills are high on everyone's list of relationship "must-haves." Successful communication can be described as the transmission of thought, feeling or action so that is satisfactorily understood. Usually, the skills referred to are of the interpersonal variety. I think it's just as important to understand your internal communication, referred to as your self-talk, Self-talk is defined as the ongoing dialogue we have with ourselves that determines our behavior and it turns out we talk to ourselves all the time. This self-talk both reflects and creates our emotional states so when the self-talk is negative we become more stressed, less confident and more concerned with what other people think. We often tend to believe our self-talk is real and objective, not always aware that it comes from a feeling or belief we have. The good news is that we can transform our life experiences by learning how to defuse the power of negative self-talk. This entry will look at what self talk is, how it works and describe 5 kinds of negative self-talk. Part 2 will describe 5 additional kinds of negative self talk and offer a way to turn negative self talk around into positive action. HOW SELF-TALK WORKS In the memorable subtitle scene of the movie "Annie Hall." Woody Allen ("Alvy" and Diane Keaton ("Annie") are on the balcony off Annie's apartment. With a cityscape in the......

...physical force must be irresistable. 3.That the physical force must come from a third person. Basis: complete absence of freedom or voluntariness. The force must be so irresistable as to reduce the actor to a mere instrument who act not only without will but against his will. 6. UNCONTROLLABLE FEAR ELEMENTS: 1.That the threat which causes the fear is of an evil greater than, or at least equal to, that which he is required to commit; 2.That it promises an evil of such gravity and imminence that the ordinary man would have succumbed to it. Duress as a valid defense should be based on real, imminent, or reasonable fear for one’s life or limb and should not be speculative, fanciful, or remote fear. “ACTUS ME INVITO FACTUS NON EST MEUS ACTUS” – An act done by me against my will is not my act. 7.INSUPERABLE CAUSE. INSUPERABLE CAUSE – some motive which has lawfully, morally or physically prevented a person to do what the law commands. ELEMENTS: 1.That an act is required by law to be done. 2.That a person fails to perform such act. 3.That his failure to perform such act was due to some lawful or insuperable cause. Examples: a.The municipal president detained the offended party for three days because to take him to the nearest justice of the peace required a journey for three days by boat as there was no other means of transportation. (US vs. Vicentillo, 19 Phil. 118) The distance which required a journey for three days was considered an insuperable......

...This week was a difficult one for me, a lot of new concepts and a lot of information was thrown at me but with the media tools I used this week it made it a little easier to get through this week and hopefully the next couple of weeks. One media that helped me in this week’s assignments was the direct chat section on the schools web page. Being able to be in communications with other students helped me understand some sections of this week that I did not understand. It also allowed me to bounce ideas and calibrate on this week’s assignment. Using the discussion board is great but being able to instantly communicate with our team allows us to work better with each other. Another media that helped me big time as the E-book, using the eBook from book shelf makes it easier to navigate back and forth between section and the highlighting section helps keep track of things that I might have to go back and read again or to highlight important section that I think will be needed. I believe this will come in handy later on down the line when it comes time to take the final. These two media tools where very useful this week as this week for some reason felt a little more challenging to me, being able to reach out to team members and have parts that where a little fuzzy helped somewhat clarify certain sections of the chapter. One last media tool or study tool that was very important to my self was the UOF app, I am not always able to be in front of my PC so being able to get on this app......

...Emotions are one’s state of mind and natural responses, but scientific discourse has drifted to other meanings. It’s also evident that emotion senses on the meanings. I have experienced more positive emotions over the past four day. These emotions are characterized by happiness and positive expectations. These emotions are expectation of a brighter future. This because I had been informed a job opportunity had been secured on my behalf. This has been my dream since I was born. This was a dream come true because, I have always been thinking about the job. These positive emotions brought about anxiety in me thus I was not able to settle. I have also had negative emotions in the last four days. These emotions have generated negative thoughts in me. This can be as a result to a response of an expected trip that I was eager to be present. I could not believe my ears to hear that the trip had been cancelled due to the fact that one of our friends had lost their parents. The fact that I was not aware also brought about a negative emotion (Cassady & Eissa, 2009). Emotions are complex. According to some theories, they are a state of feeling that results in physical and psychological changes that influence our behavior. This can also be linked to the arousal of the nervous system with various states and strengths of arousal relating, apparently, to particular emotions. It’s also linked in some way to behavioral tendency. A similar description can be derived from the sociology....

Me Myself and I

...I have no single philosophy for life, but rather three philosophies. Each of which has different meaning. My three philosophies include the following: work hard, take pride in myself and the accomplishments that I make, and also everyone is on this planet for a reason. In the following paragraphs I will explain each of my three philosophies. From this, I hope that others will understand why I look at life the way that I do. The first of my three philosophies, to work hard, can be very easily explained. I feel that if money or a gift given to me by another person because I earned the reward is much more valued. In other words, knowing that I worked hard, did a good job, and deserve a reward makes me feel good inside. I also feel that all persons should have to work and support themselves. If a person doesn't wish to put forth any effort and work hard to support themselves, then that person deserves nothing. The next of my three philosophies is to take pride in myself and the accomplishments that I make. I have found that if I don't take pride in myself and what I do than I might as well give up on life. My reason for this being that no one else will think highly of me if I, myself, don't. I always set goals for myself before I begin a project or take part in an activity. My rule is to "Set my goals high, but obtainable," and although I may not always reach all of my goals that I have set, I should always be proud of what I have done. My final philosophy, everyone......

...interfere with their growing? Salt along with other things that occur outside on a regular day might affect the plants growing. My question is does salt affect a plants growth. Well in order to find this out I have to state all the facts and remember what is significant. The basic requirements for any gardening plant to survive are water, nutrients, the right temperature and light, but all in differing amounts depending on the type of plant. Plants also need air and a growing medium, somewhere to put their roots down. Water is essential for a garden plants survival, not only to stop them from dehydrating, but also to get them to absorb nutrients. Water also cools the leaves as it evaporates. Rain and snow will travel down through the soil, some will run off into streams or ditches, some will sink down to the water table, some will be lost to evaporation and some will be left in the soil. Plants will use the water left in the soil, which can be up to two thirds of any rainfall. So, it is important to provide correct watering for any plant to survive, and grow. It is even more important to provide correct watering for gardening plants in pots and containers as they are unable to find water for themselves. A lot of thing and objects can hinder plants and their growth. I feel in order for the experiment to come out as a success all precautions have to be taken. Every step and material has to be perfect. Air pollution does not only damage the air; it also damages......

Me as I Know Her

...Me As I Know Her When I think of my life as a child and now as a parent. My views on life have changed to think of how to become a better person and parent. I will briefly discuss some of my life experiences that shaped me into the person that I am. I will also analyze some of the theories that apply to psychological development and how some of these theories pertain to my life. I grew up in a single-family home with my mother finishing school and taking care of my older sister, older brother, my baby sisters and I. A man who was absent from my life, that was my father I did not know. My parents got divorced when I was just an infant. I feel this is where my trust issues come from. I also believe what Erik Erikson theories “in stage one, infants must learn to trust their parents”(Witt & Mosser, 2010, 2.3) which teaches a child to trust others easily. I spent majority of my time with my grandparents who I looked up to. I took my papa as my father because that is all I knew as a child so the few times my father did call I just felt that this was a just a man with the title my daddy. On television I had seen that parents were together like on the Cosby Show and Leave It to Beaver so I did not understand why my mom and dad were not together. Growing up being the middle child of five children by my mother. Also having a younger sister from my father. My younger sister by my father I did not grow up with so I did not know much about her. As adults we have......
