More Education, More Freedome

...More Education, More Freedom Several people have different views towards what is the relationship between education and individual freedom. In recent discussions of freedom, when talking about slavery and freedom, most people will tend to say that freedom means that to be free, without an owner, telling them what to do, or what to wear, or what to do, and what they are worth. In the same discussions, some believe that education means to have the knowledge to do anything a human being is capable of possibly accomplishing. The relationship between education and individual freedom has tend to become a controversial issue due to the amount of decades it has been around, and many other reasons. The main reason why education and individual freedom has become controversial is because of the accessibility that people have towards the two. Some people don’t have access to the two due to the economic shortages of their location, and many other because of the living conditions they are in. In Frederick Douglass’s, “The Narrative Of The Life Of Fredrick Douglass An American Slave”, Douglass believes that with out the proper education a person does not have complete freedom. Just as Douglass believes, Martin Luther King Jr.’s, “The Purpose of Education”, emphasizes mainly on how he believes that with out the proper education, a person can not be completely free because a person needs to be able to use his or her education in the proper manner. Both education and freedom are related to......

...the previous IMO papers. All the sums were more or less pretty theoretical and high level. The second section was algorithms, which is where I performed best, since I was taking the Data Structures and Algorithms course that semester. The third section was on computer networks which was mainly targeted at the CSE junta and not meant for us. Round 1: This was my 1st interview of the day. It started off with a discussion of my resume, especially of my work at DB, and the interviewer even told me about how they do something quite similar in their team. He asked me about my courses and my interest in finance. The discussion then moved towards finance and we discussed questions like why are gold prices increasing and why are US treasury bonds still valuable and also about the Euro crisis. I call it a discussion because although it would start off with a question the interviewer would pose for me, very soon it would end up being an interesting discussion with each of us putting in our opinion and views and new facts. It was a very jovial interview, and lasted hardly for 20 to 30 minutes. Round 2: This was supposed to be a more technical interview to test my coding and mathematical skills. The interviewer asked me if I knew C++. I told him that I had done it back in my high school days, so might be a little rusty but will definitely try. He started off with an easy question on derived classes and their objects. Soon the code became more and more complicated, involving abstract......

More Government’s longterm fiscal health (Sachs). For decades, conservatives have been pushing for smaller government, and have consistently called for reduced social spending, less regulation, and more tax cuts. Not everyone agrees. When the financial crisis hit in the fall of 2008 and the economy began to melt down, suddenly there were calls for bigger and more active government. Many people wanted a massive federal stimulus plan to ward off an economic depression, and others demanded the widespread re-regulation of financial markets to prevent a recurrence of these problems (Douglas). Even as the economy worsen many American consoled themselves with the belief that at least we were better off than people in other rich nations. Now when comparing the U.S. with Canada, Western Europe and Japan, the news is sobering. Our child-poverty and infant-mortality rates are the highest, our life expectancy is the lowest, our budget deficit as a share of gross domestic product (GDP) is the highest, and our 15 year old children rank among the lowest on tests of math and science (Sachs). On top of this, many Democrats have argued for increased government involvement in a wide variety of areas, ranging from education and energy development to infrastructure repair and health care reform. Whether we need more government in this country really depends on the answer to three other questions. First, is there room for improvement in government programs? Have we reached the limits of what......

After his time in the war had been served, Wes left the forces a veteran, and went on to bigger and better things, and all the opportunities that college would bring for him and his future. The book also tells the story of the "other" Wes Moore, one who's story isn't that of success and opportunity, but rather that of loss and missed chances. The other Wes Moore had all the same chances as the successful Wes Moore, he just chose not to pursue them from the beginning, and as time went on, his opportunities for a bright future faded away. The other Moore, had a very similar childhood, in that he lived in poverty, had no father, and was barely getting by off of what was brought home at the end of the week. As time went by, and the other Moore grew up, he started becoming detached from his family, and started spending more time with his "crew" out on the streets, and wandering around causing trouble. The other Wes Moore decided not to pursue an education, because he wanted things in life to be brought to him, he didn't want to work to......

...manufatures and placed onto clothing by expensive European jewelers, such as Harry Winston and Vancleef & Arpels. Moreover, there are different types of clothing for men and for women that have been developed throughout the years and each garment is closely associated with the climate, region and the local culture. Traditional clothing that women wore and still wear today in northern India as well as southern India is known as sari. Sari is derived from Sanskrit and literally means “strip of cloth.” Typically, the most elegant saris are usually made out of silk. However, such an elegant piece of clothing like a silk sari, would typically be seen in Mumbai, one of India’s fashion capitals, where in the rural parts of India, clothing that is more geared towards the traditional side would be worn. Now, saris are known with different names in different regions. For example, in Kerala, a south-west region of South India, white saris are only worn on special occasions and they are known as kavanis. In contrast, a simple white sari that is worn every day, is known as a mundu. This not only shows the versatility and diversity across the regions of South Asia, but also shows how each region adapted different names for the different types of clothing. Apart from the sari, women had other options like gharga choli, kurta and salwar kameez. Not only did women have their particular clothing garments, but men did as well. Some of the most common types of clothing that men use and......

To build this business, we would need to start different departments so that the company would be able to function and to compete with other companies. The different departments that I would have would be Payroll, Finance, Human Resource, and Accounting. The Payroll department would make sure that each employee of the company would be getting their salary correctly and on time. They would also seek out employee’s attendance, which includes sick, vacation, and personal days. The Finance department would make sure the company would be budgeting correctly and keeping track of all outside bills that would need the company to be more efficient. This includes things such as Internet, Computers, Food, etc. The Human Resource department would seek out other employees and select a group of people that are the right fit for the company to make sure the employee would be a benefit to the company. Human Resources would also look out for the employees to make sure they have policies that need to followed so that way one employee does not feel any negative action towards another employee. Finally the accounting department, they would make sure that the company is paying for all the bills and funding for the company, which means they would be the ones who would write out checks and balance the checks so the company would not go into bankruptcy. Johnson's central premise is that" [g]ood ideas... want to connect fuse, recombine... crossing conceptual borders. They want to complete each other as much as they want to compete." For Johnson, seven factors fuel the recombination and migration that catalyze innovation: the adjacent possible, liquid networks, the slow hunch, serendipity, error, exaptation, and platforms. Seven sections of the book explore these factors in detail, providing vivid examples and engaging stories drawn from the frontlines Conclusion There has been a great stride in good ideas and the relevance is still evolving as new ideas and creativity continues to grow.
