Following our meeting on above subject and your directive for me to organize the product development process for the project I have employed a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) will be used to organize the work elements of the project.
Overview of the Work Breakdown Structure
The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is the tool for breaking down a project into its component parts. It identifies all the tasks in a project that are the foundation for all subsequent planning. The WBS starts with the list of requirements and specifications, which in turn suggest the end-item, deliverable, or system of the project and its major subsystems and components; they also specify which of the systems will be met externally (by suppliers/subcontractors) and which internally. The purpose of the WBS is to define the total project into “pieces of work” or small manageable tasks known as work packages. Decomposition makes it easier to prepare project schedules and cost estimates, and to assign management and task responsibilities. In a WBS the top layer is very general, and each subsequent layer is more and more specific. Every level in the WBS is the detailed explanation of the level above it. Building a WBS helps to: * Provide a detailed and comprehensive illustration of project scope. * Monitor progress – because the tasks on the WBS become the basis for monitoring progress because each is a measurable unit of work. * It also helps to create accurate cost and schedule estimates - it provides a detailed structure to estimate and capture costs for equipment, labor, and materials on each task. * Finally it helps to build project teams –…...

...opening of a new hospital, and coping with a nursing shortage I have decided to implement specific strategies that will alleviate these issues and establish Middlefield Hospital as an asset to the community and as an organization that is competitive and resourceful. To begin, I will promote employee morale and decrease employee turnover by fostering an environment that promotes advancement and motivates employees to do better. Because employees are often motivated differently, employers must develop a work environment that promotes motivation. “Organizations need to know what is important to their employees and then to emphasize these factors”. Motivation in Today’s Workplace: The Link to Performance (2010). HRMagazine, 55(7), 1-9. As an example, I will create a survey for employees to list and recommend changes that would be beneficial to them and their longevity at Middlefield Hospital. This survey would also allow me to effectively gage where the issue of deteriorating morale stems from and how to correct it. In addition, promoting professional development for my staff to be current on the latest trends and technology, as well as instituting a comprehensive benefit package that offers various programs and services that appeal to their families and lifestlye. Lastly, offering rewards and incentives to employees who are doing exceptional work will motivate my employees and give them a reason to work harder. If implemented correctly, I believe these......

...on your directive to create a document and or process outlining the product development process for Vision Tec’s new high-resolution camera, I have selected a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to construct the aspects the project. The WBS is essentially, a blueprint for the project. Major and minor tasks are separated for the sake of effective and efficient planning. Major deliverables, sub-deliverables, further sub-deliverables, and work packages (in that order) is what the WBS is composed of and specifies requirements and the complexity of activities that need to take place in order for the project to be completed. This is a pyramid structured (meaning the most responsibility is at the top but the most detailed work is conducted the further you go down) gives a detailed systematic approach for internal operations, which also, in its greatest form of detail, assign the projects within the project to specific managers and aligns responsibility. Be mindful, the work breakdown structure may require more detail as we decompose deliverables, the various work elements, and necessities of the project. Changes are contingent upon the duration of the project so it is critical that communication is progressive. The following outline of a WBS begins with the project title level (High resolution camera – not numbered) and dwindles down to the work packages (up to five levels) separated by decimal places: WBS # Description High-resolution camera 1.0 Market Feasibility......

Additional equipment can be rented at a 75% cost premium if needed. Hint: A premium implies you pay an amount above and beyond the current amount. a. Identify any resource conflicts in the above project. State the activities involved, the time frame of the conflict(s), the resources in conflict and the quantity of resource involved. Hint: The key to this problem is the layout you choose for the project. To identify resource conflicts, the schedule will have to include a timescale. b. ...Problems 5-1 through 5-2 (Graded) 5-1 Earned Value Calculation You are 4 months into a 6 month project. The project is linear, which means that the progress and spending occurs at a constant rate. Our crack project team of highly skilled associates has worked diligently and put in extra hours to keep the project going. Our accounting department has provided the following data at the end of month 4: Actual cost to date = $88,800 Planned expenditures to date = $101,000 The CFO is excited and has sent you an email congratulating you for being 12.07% under budget. However, is it really time to hold a team celebration? That would be fun but your project manager mentality kicks in. Those numbers look good but how are we ‘really’ doing? To understand the true project performance, we need to apply earned value techniques. The missing piece we need is Earned Value (i.e. what we have actually accomplished so far). You meet with your team and find that only 6 of the 7 tasks scheduled to be complete by the end of month 4 have actually been completed. Task 7 isn’t even started! This information gives you the final data you need to apply ‘Earned Value’ and develop an objective analysis. 1. What are the PV, EV, and AC for the project at the end of month 4? 2. What are the SV, CV, SPI, and CPI for the project? 3. Assess the project performance to date? Do you get to have the celebration? 1. PV - $101,000 AC -$88,800 EV = $101,000 X 6/7(.857) = $86,571 2. ...

And in this case, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, eBay, etc…. All of those sites are leaders in world of e-commerce. And because of this, the Book Bunker’s sales have been declining over the past several years. There are a few things that Book Bunker needs to do to address their declining sales. The first is to start a website where they can perform transactions online as well. Having a website for your business will help out and bring in a lot more business to the store. Necessary Features The Book Bunker website should have a few features that would reflect those from your local library website. An online catalog would be useful where customers can view what books the Book Bunker currently has in stock, along with that, they can place orders and have books delivered, request books that they currently do not have. As a form of incentive for using the online store, the customers can receive a small discount towards their current purchase or future......

You Decide Week 5

...You Decide Week 5 Assignment MM 577 Keller Graduate School of Management June 3, 2012 1) How do you think the Sales Manager behaved on the call? Did the sales manager and Joe demonstrate that they had prepared for the call? I feel that the Sales Manager acted poorly and inappropriately on the call. Twitching and squirming in his seat and showing obvious frustration during the call is highly unprofessional in my opinion. If I were the Lab Manager and someone trying to sell me something was acting like that I wouldn’t buy from them either. The fact that the Sales Manager was passing notes to Joe during the call is also in poor taste. Neither the Sales Manager nor Joe demonstrated that they had done any preparation at all for the sales call. Had they done so, they would not have been reviewing the things that they should have talked about such as following their Personal Selling Approach, establishing the needs and priorities of the hospital, and the benefits of the GENIE 465; they would have been talking about the sale that they just closed. 2) Did the Sales Manager help Joe during the call or did he hurt Joe's chances? Why or Why not? Did the Sales Manager help him to know how to handle a similar situation better in the future? Did the Sales Manager demonstrate good coaching? Why or why not? Joe and the Sales Manager went into the meeting with the expectation that the Sales Manager was not going to say anything. Perhaps this was so that Joe would not be......

Switches range from $200 to $3,000 depending on how many ports we need (28 or 48ports which allows more computers on the network) or if we want a layer 3 switch would allow us to use the switch as a router. Servers have a monthly charge which could be $50 to $200 a month. We could purchase a server and maintain it ourselves but it could cost us anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 for the equipment. If we bought a server we would have to hire additional IT staff to keep the server up and properly running at all times, So you would have to add their salary into the budget. Business 427 Week 1 You Decide

...student Week 2 - you decide Business 427 professor September 22, 2009 Q1:  Do you think REESE Inc., adhered to a set of Business Ethics?  If so, what were they?  If not, what would you recommend as a set of business ethics for them? I think REESE Inc. did what it was set up to do. Appear as a separate entity in order to secure contracts. These types of things happen all the time. The Planet Hollywood restaurants were all set up under different corps. When one went bankrupted, the others were untouchable. Any company that is going to do business with another is responsible for doing the proper due diligence on the people and company your going into business with. Any back ground check on the people running the company would have shown that they work for and with one another. Q2:  Discuss the ethical issues involved in this case.  Discuss how you might develop a plan for addressing the ethical issues involved in this case? You keep mentioning the ethics in this case, but REESE Inc. did nothing wrong. Most people might not agree with the approach or with what REESE did, but that’s business. If I were Monica Ponce, I would have signed a non-circumventing contract with REESE Inc. in order to protect my contacts as well as a contract to do business together before introducing any of my contacts or being part of any meeting that might bring future business with REESE Inc. Q3:  How do you think the President of CNS should have addressed this directive from the CEO of......

...You Decide Assignment HS541: Health Service Systems Chief Executive Officer, Kathy Ramirez Address to the Board of Middlefield Hospital As the Chief Executive Officer for the Middlefield Hospital, I am honored to be associated with a well-established and large tertiary facility which is well known in the community for providing high quality services. Middlefield Hospital has enjoyed this reputation for over 22 years and I am confident that we can continue to provide these services for many more years. Our facility offers many services that are needed in this community including inpatient and outpatient services. With that said, I am also aware that we are facing some difficult times right now. The opening of a new facility within close proximity to us has had an impact on our staffing, both in our physician and nursing populations. What are the reasons for this shift? What incentives are being offered that are not being offered at our facility? Why has the overall morale of our facility dropped significantly over that past 12 months? These are the type of questions we will explore after specific strategic steps have been implemented. How we respond as a team to these issues will have a major impact on our future. The transformation that is currently underway for our facility which includes the professional healthcare staffing is a challenge for all of leadership to address. We cannot stop these changes from taking place. What we can do is embrace them and......
