President Benigno S. Aquino III delivered his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28, 2014, in the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City.

The President started his speech with a famous and common Filipino saying “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan” And he started recounting the miseries , chaos and problems of a very weak , unstable and poor Philippines at the start of his reign. He compared our country to wrecked house to be renovated yet no resources are available to do so. With humble hearts and sincere voice, the President presented the transformations , progress and peace his government had done and accomplished .

The President's speech lasted for an hour and a half, focused on the Aquino administration's achievements. He even presented the beneficiaries and recipients of the so called “ tuwid na daan “ . Many of which are really true , but the desperate question of his “Boss” ( the Filipino people ) is “How many among the 90 million Filipinos felt the love and the compassion of the Aquino government ? How many are the chosen ones ? Many are still waiting, aiming , and hoping for the warmth and sincere touch of the government .

The President is facing three impeachment complaints before the House of Representatives, two of which cited DAP as basis. What happened to the “tuwid na daan” ? What happened to the sincere governance? His BOSSES are in great confusion , who are telling the truth ? To whom will they believe? Are we still living ,after five years of Aquino government, in the country of lies and corruption?

Towards the last part of his SONA, Aquino's voice broke and he appeared close to tears while recalling the memory of his parents, slain Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late President Corazon Aquino. The…...

...SONA (philstar.com) Updated July 28, 2010 12:00 AM | | President Aquino arrives at the Music Room of Malacañang to meet the ambassadors of Switzerland, Chile and Cambodia yesterday. WILLY PEREZ MANILA, Philippines – President Aquino’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) was “deficient, defective, and divisive,” meant to lower the expectations of Filipinos on his capacity to run the country, Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman said yesterday. In his “counter-SONA,” the opposition lawmaker said Mr. Aquino’s SONA was generally a partisan press release, not a blueprint for development and policy direction, as minority lawmakers had expected.“(It was) a complaint sheet, a compendium of motherhood statements and a continuation of campaign rhetoric,” he said.Lagman said his counter-SONA sought to correct Mr. Aquino’s allegations against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.?The House minority had waited to be informed of Mr. Aquino’s legislative agenda, he added. ?Lagman said instead of presenting a roadmap on policies and programs, the President gave a discourse on inherited problems that overwhelm him and painted an atmosphere of woe with very tentative and deficient solutions.?“The SONA was bereft of specifics or particulars,” he said.“His proposals were virtually hanging in the air and most probably, he expected Congress to fill in the blanks.“Or was it purposely vague or ‘safe’ so that the people could not hold him accountable for a concrete program once it fails?”?Lagman......

In his SONA, Aquino commended his cabinet members saying that his cabinet members are “sacrificing to help transform our nation”. He saluted DFA Secretary Alberto Del Rosario who led the repatriation of some 20,000 Filipinos from Libya. The whole SONA lasted for almost 2 hours. The President was applauded 90 times, stammered 35 times, and coughed 8 times, according to a radio report. I have noticed that the President failed to mention the Freedom of Information Bill, which was in the Congress for so many years and up to now is not yet passed. This must be one of the priority bills that must be passed to prove to the whole nation that this government is really aiming for transparency. Another thing that is noticeable in President Aquino’s SONA, even from the 1st to the 4th is that he......

Standing up for our West Philippine Seas territorial claim deserves acknowledgement as the dispute concerns a super power country like China. One of the weak points of the SONA include the part where he discussed his forgive and forget ideology. It has been noted and celebrated that President Aquino’s administration has been able to prosecute former President Arroyo for electoral sabotage and has successfully removed Renato Corona from the Chief Justice position. Conversely, it challenges Aquino’s obvious bias toward his political adviser Ronald Llamas who was plagued with controversy related to possession of high-powered firearms and support for pirated media. This one seems to depict that he can forgive and forget the violations of those people under his administration. Although the President had claimed that he already disposed of his shares in Hacienda Luisita, it would have been meaningful to know what......
