Strategic Plan, Part II: SWOTT Analysis
BUS/475 – Integrated Business Topics January 16, 2012
Healthy Place is a therapy store focused upon relaxation as an aid in healthy living. Healthy Place provides a variety of products, tools, and techniques for customers to practice at home relaxation therapy. These products include body and cosmetic services, aroma therapy products, reflexology, perfumes, and candles. The achievement of a healthy balance of mind, spirit, and body is Healthy Place’s focus. Herein, an SWOTT analysis will be conducted and explained, internal/external analysis of Healthy Place in relation to forces and trends which are; Economic, Legal/Regulatory, Technological, Innovation, Strategy, Structure, Resources, and Culture.
SWOTT Analysis In order to conduct an SWOTT, Healthy Place needs to answer questions adequately about the company’s strengths; what are the advantages, resources, strengths in the market, and what does the company do better than the competition. The company needs to assess what factors will contribute to a loss in sales and revenue. Once again, this needs to be considered from an internal and external perspective paying close attention to what the customer’s feelings are. Once Healthy Place has established the strengths and weaknesses, the company then needs to figure out where the opportunities for the future of the company are. When assessing the opportunities the company needs to ask the following questions; what are the trend purchasing patterns of the customers, what opportunities does the company see facing them in the future, and what are the changes in technology and the markets. Additional areas for Healthy Place to look for opportunities are to assess the strengths and see which ones that can lead to a new opportunity. Another way for the company to find opportunities is to look at the weaknesses and assess which…...

Strategic Management and Strategic Competitiveness

...Strategic Management and Strategic Competitiveness Paul Warren Strayer University BUS 499 Dr. Hase November 2, 2014 Assess how globalization and technology changes have impacted the corporation you researched What is Globalization? How does it affect a company? What does it do for a country? What are some major benefits of going global? Who are the recipients of these benefits, if there are any? Let’s get started by answering the first question. “Globalization is the increasing economic interdependence among countries and their organizations as reflected in the flow of goods and services, financial capital, and knowledge across country borders” (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, pg. 9. 2013). Starbucks, an American company headquartered in Seattle, Washington is one of the most global companies I know of with more than 20,000 stores in over 50 countries around the world. I have had the opportunity to enjoy the taste of home in at least 5 different countries, which are almost the same as home but more geared to the host country tastes. As you can see, going global allowed for expansion into different markets around the world, which in return lead to countries who supply products to reach those markets as well. For instance, Starbucks by coffee from places such as Africa, Latin America and Asia by doing so this creates jobs in those areas and increases export of goods. These are major benefits from all parties involved. Coffee drinker benefit the most as they...

Strategic Management & Strategic Competitiveness

... Latrice Smith BUS 499 Week 2 Assignment 1: Strategic Management & Strategic Competitiveness Dr. Machuca 7/13/2014 Globalization is a concept that can be positive as well as negative as it refers to companies around the world and the effects it has on the global economy. Globalization can be referred to as a global movement that is integrating economic, financial, trade, and communications. Globalization will continue to be a force around the world because the global economy is continuing to be more dependent on each other. Even though globalization has been going on for centuries, there has been a new wave of policy and technological developments that have increased relations between trade and investment, and has led to a newer phase of global economic development ("What is globalization | Globalization101", n.d.). A positive outlook on globalization is the fact that there has been a reduction in the prices of goods and services throughout the world. It is reported that the volume of world trade has increased by 20 times, and the foreign investment between 1997 and 1999 has doubled from $468 billion to $827 billion ("What is globalization | Globalization101", n.d.). The negative aspect of globalization can be seen as a downfall for some companies that have not been keeping up with the demands of globalization and contributing to the some economies that are not the most stable because of unemployment and companies closing. Some can also argue that......

Strategic Management

...1 Definition of Strategic Management Strategic management is the process where managers establish an organization’s long-term direction, set the specific performance objectives, develop strategies to achieve these objectives in the light of all the relevant internal and external circumstances, and undertake to execute the chosen action plans. Strategic management steps: • specifying an organization’s objectives, • developing policies and plans to achieve these objectives, • allocating resources to implement the policies Therefore, we can see that strategic management is a combination of strategy formulation and strategy implementation. It is the highest level of managerial activity, usually performed by an organization’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and executive team. Strategic management provides overall direction to the enterprise. Strategy formulation involves: • doing a situation analysis: both internal and external; both microenvironmental and macro-environmental. • concurrent with this assessment, objectives are set. This involves crafting vision statements (long term view of a possible future), mission statements (the role that the organization gives itself in society), overall corporate objectives (both financial and strategic), strategic business unit objectives (both financial and strategic), and tactical objectives. • these objectives should, in the light of the situation analysis, suggest a strategic plan. The plan provides the details......

...Nokia Out designs Apple There was a time, not so very long ago, when Microsoft was a top seller of smartphone software. And Nokia, the Finnish electronics company, was the top seller of mobile devices. Then both of them got blindsided by Apple’s introduction of the iPhone in 2007. At first they just laughed. Who would buy that crazy overpriced phone from Apple that doesn’t even have a keyboard? Lots of people, it turns out. Which is why Nokia has seen the market share of its Symbian smartphone platform collapse to 19 percent today from 63 percent in 2007, according to IDC, a market researcher. Microsoft once had 13 percent share but now has only 2 percent, IDC says, making its presence almost negligible. But now, working together, these companies are trying to plot a comeback, and based on the phone they introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show on Monday, they might actually stand a chance. The sleek new Nokia Lumia 900 (PDF) has a 4.3-inch screen, an 8-megapixel camera, and runs on AT&T’s speedy new 4G LTE network. The phone “represents a new dawn for Nokia in the U.S.,” said Chris Weber, president of Nokia Americas, in a press release. Nokia also released a YouTube video showing off the new phone. The Lumia 900 runs the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile phone software, which is called Windows Phone 7.5 (code-name: Mango). This is a stunning piece of software that is radically different from what you get on an Apple iPhone or any of the Android phones.......

Unit 2 Strategic Management Mt460

...UNIT 2: Strategic Management Unit 2: Strategic Management MT460-02: Management Policy and Strategy Professor: Heidi J Gregory-Mina, DM, MBA, MS Kaplan University March 24th, 2012 Unit 2: Strategic Management Strategy is becoming a key to component to be a successful business in today’s market either global or domestic. With this in mind more and more focus has been put on strategy and properly learning how to use it appropriately in business world. Strategy is significant in business because it can make or break a business, if a company has a poor plan it can fail but if the same company has the same product but a different strategy it can succeed. The company not only needs to have a strategy but they cannot build a great strategy without first starting with a vision, mission, purpose and maybe some small goals to achieve within the first year to five years. Visions are important because it energizes and gives a future to the company, while the mission of the company is there to tell customer what their purpose is for and what they are they to provide as a product or service and gives the company a goal to achieve and work towards as well. Not only in these statements that management and owners work hard to put together for corporations and business but they provide the direction and the beginning stages of the strategy of the business. Strategy is needed in the business but the strategy is coming from strategic management and one must first define......
