“You really need a car to go places,” say many RIT students. Is that true? Is there really nothing to do on the RIT campus? Many students find that to be true, but they are not aware of the many opportunities that the RIT campus offers them. Not having a car doesn’t limit any student to what he or she can do. So, how do we get students to realize the many opportunities on campus? There is a solution! Students just need to pause and take a look around at the things many students overlook: fliers and websites. If students read the fliers and websites, they would see that clubs, WITR (RIT’s on-campus radio station), student government, and many more organizations are looking for help or for you to join and have fun. Reading a flier can be quick and painless. All the information you need is when, where, what and why. That is exactly what many students do when they put out fliers, especially clubs. Clubs wouldn’t survive without any active members. You practically do not have to do anything to join a club. All you have to do is show up to a meeting and give someone on the E-Board your email so that you will get the weekly emails. Joining a club can give you more opportunities to do other activities. For example, lets say you join Asian Culture Society (ACS). Meetings would be every Friday at 1:00 PM to 2: 00 PM. Usually after the meetings everyone would go out to eat, whether it be on campus or off campus. So if you don’t have a car, someone would give you a ride. It would give you a chance or two to eat off campus, instead of eating at Gracie’s or The Commons. Getting more involved with the club, rather than just being an active member, can also keep you really busy. The E-board is the behind the scenes look to making the club happen. All the planning and action happens with the E-Board. Planning those annual events is their job. Lets get out there and take those…...

Marketing Opportunities

...Marketing: Improvement Opportunities BUSN300-1205A-01 Lower Division Capstone Marketing: Improvement Opportunities Apple Inc. Some of the most promising marketing opportunities in terms of profitability, increased market share and customer loyalty for Apple Inc. include attracting the business related target segment instead of just focusing and promoting the product and technology among the younger generation. They can focus on the concepts of second generation of cloud computing and provide more applications for business users. Another opportunity would be to change the marketing strategy of Apple from being secretive and conservative to more open about disclosing the features and functional benefits of its product. Apple should reward its loyal fan base by giving them a feeling of importance through empowerment. A great example would be making a separate line of those buyers who were the first to buy its phone. Additionally, it can also attract book worms and geeks by promoting their relevant applications- educating customers and creating awareness about how eBooks can resolve the issues of students and reading enthused. The last opportunity would be that of attracting and targeting the older customer base of the, population which has present Apple with one of the most promising marketing opportunities. This marketing opportunity can be classified as low hanging fruit as it only requires few modifications to the existing product or profiling of the existing target......

All these things did not go as what he thought, and it lead to the economic collapse. Equality of Opportunity

...Assignment: Equality of Opportunity Part 1: Formal equality of opportunity refers to the requirement that” positions and posts that confer superior advantages should be open to all applicants” (“Equality of Opportunity”). In essence, formal equality of opportunity advocates that all applications are evaluated on their merits and achievements. It states that positions should be offered to applicants who are deemed most qualified in accordance with the appropriate criteria for the position. Although formal equality disallows deliberate omission of people established on race or gender, it does not disallow “statistical discrimination” (“Equality of Opportunity”). Statistical discrimination refers to the use of stereotypes that are “sufficiently accurate” to treat all members of a group the same without devoting any additional resources to determine the actual qualities that are unique to each individual group member. The aforementioned comments regarding statistical discrimination may be disregarded by some as the concept of statistical discrimination is in conflict with the fundamental idea behind formal equality of opportunity. Judging people based on stereotypes that are statistically significant is an idea opposed to giving everyone a clean slate and a judgment based solely on their merits which is the core idea behind formal equality of opportunity. Substantive equality of opportunity can have two alternative definitions. Firstly, substantive equality of opportunity......

Opportunity Cost

...Opportunity Cost Paper If you could understand and apply one key concept in economics that would most affect the decisions you make in both your personal and professional life, it would be opportunity cost. That is a bold statement; therefore, you must understand why and how this statement is true. First, you must understand a definition: opportunity cost is the value of a resource in its next best use. These thirteen words are so deceptively simple that to many these words defy understanding. It is helpful to begin with a universal illustration. The most valued resource to most people is time. It is finite for everyone, considering people have 24 hours a day in which they must allocate work, family, sleep, fun, and other non-fun, non-work activities. Unless you are quite adept at multitasking, once you have decided to do something you have inherently decided not to do something else that most likely could have had value to you. That is, many of our choices among activities are mutually exclusive. If you decide to go to a movie, for example, those 2 hours will not be spent working out at the gym. In addition to the cost of the movie, you will have foregone the benefits of 2 hours of exercise. The true cost of the movie then is not just the $6.50 for the price of a matinee movie ticket, but also the exercise at the gym. Although the value of the exercise may be more difficult to quantify than the price of the movie ticket, you must take it into consideration when you......

Business Opportunity

...Problem Businesses are built by entrepreneurs because of two usual reasons: 1) because they are given the opportunity to enter the market, 2) and of course, to gain profit. It takes a lot of time, money and energy to establish your own business. You first have to step into the shoes of the consumers and ask yourself, “What do I want/need?” And that is where business opportunity comes. Business opportunity is present because there’s a need, there are means to fulfill the need, there are methods present to apply those means and more importantly, there’s a way to benefit from it in return. Everyone has their own needs and entrepreneurs try their best to satisfy those needs because for them, satisfaction means profit. In 65 years of excellence and service, Araullo University is able to satisfy the needs of every student in terms of quality education, every employee in terms of the job, salaries and benefits given to them and their contribution to the welfare of the community inside and outside Cabanatuan City. After being acquired by PHINMA in 2004, AU had everything improved and made better. But other than the quality education, in terms of food, is the school able to satisfy the needs of the students and employees? In the past few years, AU has been open to entrepreneurs who want to put up their food carts or kiosks inside the university. Yes, business opportunities can be found everywhere and AU is one of the places you can look for it. Many food carts and kiosks have......

Opportunities

...Opportunities Opportunities 1 May 26, 2010 Opportunities 2 In today’s society the definition of the word minority is obsolete; it now makes up a more diverse group of people, than the normal non Caucasian race it originally classified. "Minority" carries with it a certain patronizing tone even when used to assert rights of peoples who have been discriminated against, either socially or by law. I am classified as a double minority, for the reasons of being African American and a woman. Two strikes against me that would make many discouraged from accomplishing goals in life, or the reverse, making an individual determine to succeed in society. Women have for many years experienced inequality in the workplace by not being equal to their male counterparts, they are often looked past for promotions and pay raises, and usually find their selves having a difficult time with co workers and subordinates. Glass ceilings have been placed in the corporate world for years, some have tried to fight this road block, but have found their selves fighting a loosing battle. Furthermore, I chose to welcome this opportunity to participate in a internship program, because I have a strong desire to be one of the double minorities who would like to conquer the world and change the ways that women, like me, have had to suffer through for many years. Diversity and educational programs have established a successful track record in implementing programs to improve the higher......

Luck or Opportunity

...Luck or Opportunity "Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity” is a quote from Oprah Winfrey, a famous American talk show host. The speaker is trying to tell people that good preparation for opportunity is the key to be successful, not luck. Luck is really being ready for something, perhaps unconsciously, so that you recognize it when you see it. When whatever it is comes along, it will seem to be a stroke of luck, but in reality it is not luck at all. It is something you have strived and worked towards, maybe without even knowing it, so that when it presents itself it seems second nature. I agree with Winfrey because I believe that preparation is more important. My agreement is based on the following reasons. The first reason is that opportunity is very transient and rare, so we must grab it whenever we meet it. In my opinion, grabbing opportunity means to get ready and be well-prepared. Take Oprah Winfrey for example. Before she became a well-known national TV host, she worked in a local station for many years and had gone to uncountable interviews. Without her experiences, she could not have gotten the interview for national TV host and become successful. Second, preparation is always advantageous and never harmful to us. Preparation requires motivation, activity and carefulness. Those who most frequently experience outcomes viewed by society as unlucky live lives which exhibit little evidence of motivation, activity and care. When preparing for......

Opportunities

...Opportunities surround us on a day-to-day basis; however, the challenge occurs in the capturing and implementation of the opportunity. In order to capture the reward of significant opportunities, one must be willing to advocate on behalf of the cause and benefits along with the acceptance of risk factors that may and will incur during the process journey. As with any other factors in life, opportunity pose its pros and cons. According to South University (2013), pros consist of choosing the work you like to do which produces higher job satisfaction; each day is filled with new opportunities to challenge your abilities, skills, and determination; and entrepreneurs can schedule their work hours around other commitments, including spending quality time with loved ones. On the other hand, there are cons associated with the opportunities such as, staying competitive is critical and you will need to differentiate your business from other like yours in order to build a solid customer base and be profitable; the loneliness and scariness of being completely responsible for the success or failure of the business opportunity; the security of a regular paycheck; and the unpredictability of a set work schedule. Kaplan and Warren (2013) stated that a business model is the way a company applies knowledge to capture value (p.57). This statement confirms and reiterates a finding in the research of Maharshi, Arora, and Chaturvedi (2013), values are of utmost importance in the......

Take It

...As high school comes to an end, and the college days draw near, a conmstant question comes to young high school grads. “Which one should I choose?” There is a total of 4,140 colleges in the United states for kids to choose from, each with their specific set of programs to offer the student. Yes, at first it be overwhelming but with the right guidance, high school student can make the best of their college experience. There are multiple ways to choose the college that’s right for you. One of the ways is to go with academics. What are the colleges programs, are they the one for you. This may take some intensive research, (which is why juniors in high school should have already started). Also do they offer all the classes you want, what is the teacher to student ratio? Another thing to consider is the price. Is it something you can afford to pay every smester. Your dorm(that is if you going out of state, or planning on living on campus), your books, and even if the college is in the state as you reside in all play a part in your tuition. There are also government services that can help you pay such as FAFSA and TAP. Another factor is the life on campus. Usually this is a deal maker or a deal breaker. If you are given the chance to visit the college DO IT. This gives you the chance to see how it is in person. Is it to your liking, is it too big or too small, is it public or secluded, are there a lot of......
