...1st Draft Dependence from technologies Humanity or Mankind has evolved from the essence that separates humans from beasts: the ability to use the mind for reason. Reason is the ability to analyze, create, deduce, and formulate. It is reason that enables human beings to strive to invent; it is through invention that mankind has developed society and created a better world. When we speak about the relationships between technology and humanity, it is evident that we have to deal with the interrelations between some very complex phenomena: technology, science, society or systems of societies, and systems of rights of a universal nature. The discovery and development of a large number of powerful energy sources-coal, petroleum, electricity etc. have enabled humanity to conquer the barriers of nature. All this has facilitates the growth of fast modes of transport, which in turn has transformed the world into a global village. Newer and newer advances are happening by the day. Technological change is in large part responsible for many of the secular trends in such basic parameters of the human condition as the size of the world population, life expectancy, education levels, material standards of living, and the nature of work, communication, health care, war, and the effects of human activities on the natural environment. Technological development has provided human history with a kind of directionality. 1) Without the needed technology a lot of people would struggle with......

Production and Operations Functions Under the Changing Techno-Structural Environment

...Production and Operations Functions under the changing Techno-structural Environment By Shweta R. Chinchole September 2nd, 2013 Abstract: Majority of organizations today are restructuring, changing the work design and adapting the employee involvement (engagement) process in the business. However every function in an organization may or may not respond well to these changes. This paper focuses on the effects of Downsizing (effective way of restructuring the organization) and employee empowerment on the production and operation functions in the manufacturing industry. Employee empowerment has a positive impact on Production functions under specific conditions and with more of trust and social relationship between the management and employees. Empowerment is a boon to the manufacturing industry, as the in-depth knowledge of technical employees in operations is well utilized by the management. The Operation functions brings together raw materials with the production process to make products that customers need, here employees form the core, around which these processes revolve. Downsizing creates opportunities to identify, train and develop capable employees to fulfill more responsible roles in production and operation departments. Downsizing, from a company perspective, is a very positive event targeted to make their products better, increase their profit, and streamline operations. In organizations that have restructured, many do not handle the process of downsizing well and......

...Techno. Crazy “Would you take your eyes away from that Kindle and listen to me for once.” Kim pleaded to me. “Gimi a second,” I responded. Half an hour after the door slammed. I lift my head up for a millisecond to realize it was my girlfriend, Kim, who had left. “Darn it! I have to call her, as soon as I respond to this blog,” I said to myself. The grumbling in my stomach for hours after reminded me that I needed to eat. I really have to shake this addiction. My last three girlfriends left me because my addiction. I hardly communicate with my family because of my addiction but I LOVE this world. I LOVE the adventure, the challenges and the technological devices….it is like heaven to me. I have to own the latest technological device or else I will go crazy but I am already technologically crazy. Keys penetrating the doors brought me back to reality “Wow yuh eating!” my sister greeted me. “What’s for dinner ipod or laptop salad,” she asked mockingly. I responded with a daggering stare and turned my back. I booted my laptop and resumed life in my world. I won’t be bothered by my parents. They were gone for the weekend. I will be in my zone and my annoying sister in hers. I retired to my room soon after. Ignoring my numerous assignment deadlines, I plopped on my bed. ‘It is now 7pm.’ I heard my speaking clock proudly announcing. I ignored it while sticking my best friend-my earphones in my ears. ...y Reaction to Reading "A Rose for Emily" “A Rose for Emily” was written by William Faulkner and is set shortly after the Civil War. In this paper I believe that Faulkner was trying to create a story about a woman in love that wanted a family and a normal life. When she does find a man that she believes could give her the life she has been longing for she also finds that he does not truly want her, and in the end this causes Emily to murder him. Faulkner is a brilliant writer who in this short story draws a picture of the life of a girl who was house bound most of her life because of her father. After his death she thought that she could find a normal life of her own. I found myself reading and hoping that she would find this life and love that she longed for. In the short story “A Rose for Emily” the story starts at the end, with her death and then after talking about her funeral Faulkner then writes about her life and how she became the woman she ended up being. The story begins with the townspeople talking of the death of Emily. The first line of the story starts, “When Miss Emily Grierson died, our whole town went to her funeral: the men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity to see the inside of her house, which no one save an old Negro manservant-a combined gardener and cook-had seen in at least ten years.” I always think it is strange when a writer chooses to start a story with the end of the story,......

...SECTION 3: Business Model Open Innovation. IBM Case-study (from Closed to Open, and further development.) IBM Overview: IBM before 1992 and the crisis from 1945 to 1980 International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) was founded in 1911 and got its name in 1924. It merged different technologies (such as Herman Hollerith’s Electric tabulating machine and Willard Bundy’s time clock ) and their respective companies. From 1914 it had been managed by Thomas Watson, Sr. and in 1956 command of the company was assumed by Thomas Watson, Jr. . From the creation of computers in the WWII to the ‘80s IBM was the top player in the computer business. It exploited the Closed Innovation model and grew to be the most successful company in its industry. IBM’s research was totally internal and the path to market for the output of its research had to be entirely within the firm. Research and Development were separated, so to encourage the researchers to pursue their own intellectual agenda. This lead to many scientific discoveries, including five Nobel Prizes and six National Medals of Science. Moreover, IBM first manufactured “core memories”(a first form of electronic memory) and revolutionized the computer market with its “System 360”. This new class of computers soon became the dominant design, and IBM realized an extensive vertical integration. IBM offered customers a complete solution for their needs and it had extremely high switching costs, as typical of Closed Innovation. From......

Techno Music in Spanish

Melihat kebutuhan......

...Effective Use of Technology in the Classroom Throughout the years, many students have struggled with history courses, especially geography. America and many other countries have experienced a technology boom over the last century; unfortunately, much of this boom has not reached the classrooms of many schools today. In response to this, a growing number of stakeholders now call for teachers to use technology in the classroom, an idea that teachers should embrace. While research shows that technology can play a vital role in the classroom, the teacher must take advantage of the technology in appropriate ways. By doing this, an educator creates a classroom that demands respect from stakeholders, fosters a learning environment for students and prepares students for future success. By failing to do this, an educator creates an environment that makes learning a near impossibility. According to Lidstone and Stoltman (2006), the lack of well-equipped technology stands as a barrier to innovative learning in many schools. Lidstone and Stoltman argue that while many politicians and educators claim they want to build a community of constant learners, they do not put the necessary tools in place to achieve this. The authors find this amazing in world where people can “Google” nearly anything to learn about it. In addition, the authors fear that even though geographical technology exists, students do not receive adequate training in geography to take advantage of the......
