Bind Up Their Wounds
By President Henry B. Eyring
First Counselor in the First Presidency

I pray that we may prepare ourselves to give whatever priesthood service the Lord may set before us on our mortal journey.
All of us are blessed with responsibility for others. To hold the priesthood of God is to be held responsible by God for the eternal lives of His children. That is real, that is wonderful, and at times that can feel overwhelming.
There are elders quorum presidents listening tonight who know what I mean. Here is what happened to one of you. It has likely happened to many of you—and more than once. The details may vary, but the situation is the same.
An elder you do not know well asked for your help. He had just found out that he had to move his wife and young baby boy today from the apartment where they have been living to another one nearby.
He and his wife had already asked a friend if they could borrow a truck for the day to move their household and personal belongings. The friend loaned them the truck. The young father began to load all they owned into the truck, but in the first few minutes, he hurt his back. The friend who loaned the truck was too busy to help. The young father felt desperate. He thought of you, his elders quorum president.
By the time he asked for help, it was early afternoon. It was the day of an evening Church meeting. You had already promised to help your wife with household projects that day. Your children had asked you to do something with them, but you hadn’t gotten to it yet.
You also knew that the members of your quorum, particularly the most faithful, the ones you usually called on to help, were likely to be in the same time bind that you were in.
The Lord knew you would have such days when He called you to this position, so He gave you a story to encourage you. It is a parable for overloaded priesthood holders.…...

History of Race Relations in Ohio

...History of Race Relations in Ohio James Candler ETH-125 February 5 2012 Loren Butler History of Race Relations in Ohio The great state of Ohio, the heart of it all. You know, in my travels around our nation both in the military, and as a truck driver, I found that no matter where you go you will always run into someone who is or was from Ohio. Home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, in addition to four U.S. Presidents. Demographically speaking, Ohio is a majority White state and has always been majority White, with Hispanics making up the second largest group, then Blacks, Asians, and Native Americans. The current trending shows that Hispanics are the fastest growing group in Ohio, having surpassed Blacks just in the last ten years. In my experience around Ohio most of the minority population is concentrated around the urban centers of the state, leaving many rural communities (like the one I grew up in, and my current one) to be completely White, with no minorities at all. This can be cause for concern over race relations because without exposure to these minority groups there can be no education and understanding of them, leading to hereditary prejudices surfacing when exposure is finally forced. In 1959 the state of Ohio enacted the Ohio Civil Rights Act of 1959 to "prevent and eliminate the practice of discrimination in employment against persons because of their race, color, religion, national origin, or ancestry." The Civil......

To What Extent Has Sectarianism Clouded Scottish Football and What Factors Have Proven Most Pivotal in Its Development?

...To what extent has Sectarianism clouded Scottish football and what factors have proven most pivotal in its development? Sectarianism can broadly be understood as a 'narrow-minded following of a particular belief by members of a denomination that leads to prejudice, bigotry, discrimination, malice and ill-will towards members, or presumed members, of another denomination. Sectarianism can occur in different ways, either at an individual, group, cultural or institutional level' (Scottish Executive, 2006). From this, it can be determined that sectarianism refers to negative, aggressive or inappropriate conduct from one individual or group towards another from a different religious background. An extreme example of this was found as tensions heightened in the Glasgow loyalist area of Bridgeton in 1995, as 16 year old Celtic fan Mark Scott was brutally murdered walking home from a Celtic match by Rangers fan Jason Campbell, 23. This behaviour has been widely attributed to Scottish football, and its fans, for the better part of a century since the institution of Glasgow Celtic football club in 1888 and continues to prevail menacingly within Scottish football. The sectarian rivalry within Scottish football largely centres on its two dominant and largest clubs, Glasgow-based Celtic and Rangers. Berger (1984) concludes that in studying religious factions we can scrutinise human passions and motivations unrivalled in any other sector of social life. Indeed, it can be argued that......

What I Remember Most

...We all can think of many times in our lives where we just felt good to be in such a place, for me it was my grandmother’s house. My grandmother’s house has a very special place in my heart. I lived with my grandmother for many years when I was little. There has never been a place where I had a feeling of such joy and happiness. What a wonderful feeling of joy and peace waking up in my Grandmother’s home, that grew small as I grew big. The humble white house with black trimming that my great great grandfather built had a tall chimney and a broke down picket fence that my brother and I loved to run and jump over in the small town of Mound Bayou Mississippi. From the squeaky front porch swing you could see all the way down the street. Looking to the left you could see my grandmother’s country store, and to the right there was a field with grass as tall as the days were long that my friends and I loved to play hide-n-seek in. Knowing if I lay in bed long enough I would soon hear my grandmother's heavy feet rushing down the hall opening the back porch door to go hang clothes that she had just finished hand washing. The door made a squeal, almost a wine then a slam! I was sure the door was responsible for waking me up every morning in that house. Her feet would almost stomp as she rushed back to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for my brother and I before school. I would lay there and say to myself that 5 a.m. was too early for anybody to get up and do anything. Soon...

A Most Impressive Place I’ve Ever Been

...A most impressive place I’ve ever been After seeing so many views, a place kept occupying the most in my heart, which is named after Phoenix. A county of western Hunan province on the Luxi province border , at the south of Huaihua zone, covered an area of 1759.1 k㎡. Because of the rain, it has already turned into dark when we arrived. A blast of wind firstly blowed the smell of Phoenix County, mixed with the flavor of wet earth and grass, into my nose. It refreshed me soon and took all the discomfort away. As soon as I placed my luggage, I flew out from the hotel and couldn’t wait to unveil the view any more. In the dim light, I began to observe this lovely village. Even though it was evening, the phoenix was still shining and touching. On the both side of the road, fascinating bars lined abreast. Happy laughers and cheerful voices came out, enticing smell of food drifted in the air. A range of ethnic goods displayed at the roadside stands. The Tuo River just goes across the county from the west side to the east side, separating this town into two parts. However, those two parts are connected by a special kind of bridge, called ‘hundred- step bridge’. Strictly speaking, it’s not a bridge but a construction built with hundreds of respective stones. My foot stamped down on those stones as discreet as possible. Noises continued spreading from side to side until the night was filled with boisterous scenes. Bright lights reflected upon the water, breezes swept over causing......

What Scares You the Most

...vision – it’s barely 5 in the morning and they needed to be ready at exact 6 she propped her elbow carefully tapping the alarm clock off, careful not to prod the blonde haired girl cuddled beside her before slowly returning to her usual position. Santana let a tight lip smile play along her plump lips as she stare at the blonde beside her, blonde locks sprawled all over the pillow, pale hands gripping the warm sheets, and those little reflexes she does every time the Latina’s breath hit her cheeks. Santana slowly brought her hand by Brittany’s forehead to swat some hair that lingers along her brows making the taller girl snuggle even more and causing Santana giggle a little. Their warm naked bodies creating the most satisfying warmth and playing a little flashback of what happened last night. Santana continued stroking Brittany’s hair as she can feel the blonde’s continuous breaths hit her collarbone causing her lips to release a light moan. Santana audibly sighed when she felt the warm breathing altered to short pecks followed by another and another. The brunette can’t help but lost her fingers in blonde locks and run her fingertips over the pale neck pushing it even closer to her when she felt those pecks turned to nipping and sucking. “Hmmmp. B-Britt.” She moaned lowly, she let out a small gasp as Brittany continued her assault on her neck. Brittany smirked as she lightly ran her tongue along the Latina’s jawline leaving a wet trail before kissing her way up to......

What Are the Most Important Factors That Influence Customer Satisfaction When Buying Online?

...subsequently has a significant effect on intention to use online group buying sites. While entertainment gratification was found to be insignificant, we reveal some possible reasons for this finding. The implications of the findings and future research directions are also discussed. Keywords: online group buying; consumer acceptance and continuance. INTRODUCTION The rapid growth of information technology (IT), the Internet, and the e-commerce boom have created significant opportunities that are characterized by a lack of spatial boundaries [43]. Dawson [9] suggests that three particular types of IT investment have led retailers to become more profitable: (1) knowledgebased investments provide more creative ways to run enterprises; (2) alliance-based investments between businesses work to generate new or reinforce existing competitive positions; and (3) productivity-based investments seek to achieve cost reductions or substitutions in particular business units or processes. To this end, the electronic marketplace has witnessed the birth of new electronic commerce platforms, including online auction sites [44], online shopping sites [25, 26], and more recently online group buying (OGB) sites [5]. OGB has become popular with the emergence of OGB sites based in the United States of America (USA), notably through the launch of Groupon at the end of 2008 [17]. Only a few months later, this new electronic commerce platform from the USA had surged across the globe. Just as Groupon......

What Part of the Human Body Is Most Sensitive

...Nathan Coulson What part of the body is most accurate for testing the temperature of a baby's bath water? Your hands are very unreliable at measuring temperature, one reason is because you can become used to extreme temperatures on your hands more readily than other parts of your body. For example, when you first put your hand in water it might feel very hot or very cold, but then as you keep your hand under water, you get used to it, and the water begins to feel more moderate than it really is. This is a very bad thing if you are trying to avoid scalding your baby! Scientists and doctors have proven that the elbow is the most reliable to test your babies bath water because the skin cells on the end of the elbow are more sensitive than any other part of the skin. If you test your baby’s bath with the end of your elbow you are less likely to scald them. What's the structure of the skin? The skin is the largest organ in the body. It has three main layers, the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous layers. The epidermis is an elastic layer on the outside that is continually being regenerated. The dermis is the inner layer that includes the following Epidermis Dermis sweat glands- they produce sweat that travels through the sweat ducts Hair follies- are pits where hair grows. Hairs also play a part in temperature regulation. Source A Subcutaneous layer The subcutaneous layer under the dermis is made up of connective tissue and fat (a......

To What Extent Has the Location of the Sovereignty in the Uk Has Changed?

...To what extent has the location of the sovereignty in the UK has changed? The sovereignty is the supreme and independent power or authority in government as possessed or claimed by a state or community. There are two types of sovereignty, legal and political. Legal sovereignty is the principle that one body has the authority and right to change any law in anyway it wants to, legal sovereignty in the UK has been said to lie in Westminster Parliament. Political sovereignty is where power effectively and actively is used and implemented, in other words who holds political power and who has can influence it. For example, political sovereignty lies with the electorate at election time, but at other times lies with parliament when debating legislation and constitutional statues. Although the UK parliament is a sovereign body, there was devolution to the regions under Blaire, as well as transferring powers to the European Parliament in the Brussels, which firstly happened after Maastrich Treaty in 1992. On the one hand, there was a some transfers of EU, whereby the UK Parliament cannot do anything on certain matters. The UK initially joined the EEC in 1973 since then the EEC has become the EU and has also become increasingly more powerful over the UK as time has passed. It could be argued that the EU is supreme over UK statues and the UK parliament. This is shown in the case whereby the EU allowed Spanish fishing boats to fish in UK waters, because it is EU waters, and......

To What Extent Has the Authentic Food Company Ltd Products Been Most Important to the Marketing Mix?

...To what extent has the authentic food company ltd products been most important to the marketing mix? Definition Marketing mix is the combination of four major tools for marketing these include: Price, Product, Promotion and Place. Introduction Most businesses would say that the product is the most important factor of marketing and it should be the 5 P’s where product is at the centre and price, promotion, place and people are around it. Main Part Product is an article or substance that is designed for retail. Price is the amount of money expected to pay for something. Promotion is activities that support a cause, aim or venture. Place is a particular point place or location in a particular space. This company has used quality as its unique selling point to help it grow and do well in the frozen food section. This product would appeal to certain types of people whether it is large families, people who aren’t able to afford fresh foods or people who aren’t able to cook. However if Lak and Kamil are planning to expand the business the prices may have to become the most important P or the marketing mix. Recently due to the companies falling profit margins it would affect the marketing mix. Due to the status of the company they would have to take into considerations about the quality of the product when making decisions in the mix, because if they lose the quality due to price they might lose customers which in turn would mean that the demand would decrease which leads to...

What Is the Most Important Thing to Survive a Disaster?

...What Is The Most Important Thing To Survive A Disaster? ‘The End is Near’ – While this short but somewhat perturbing phrase might have become a common sight since the Mayan prediction of 2012, reactions to it vary from one person to another. However, deep down, everyone realizes that it could indeed be the grave truth and naturally feel apprehensive. In such a situation, the next sensible step is to acquire training in survival skills and make adequate preparations should disaster strike sooner than expected. Given the fact that ‘End’ could arrive in various ways – an explosion, a natural disaster or an accident being some of the possibilities – the onus is on you to grasp the situation and swing into action swiftly and logically. Ensuring survival is the main objective and for fulfillment of this goal, presence of one factor, namely the will and determination to survive followed by resilience, is a must. True though it is that your training will teach you what to do in the event of a disaster and how to organize things around you, first and foremost it is imperative to maintain clarity of thought and resisting panic attacks. Panic is the first reaction that most humans exhibit when faced with a disaster irrespective of its magnitude and it does take plenty of fortitude to overcome this emotion but it must be done. Letting panic sweep over your thoughts would not just cloud your judgment but also plunge you into the depths of despair wherein the temptation to give up......

How History Has Impacted U.S. Law

...How History has Impacted United States Law Keely Gibbons-Bassett Walden University How History has Impacted United States Law The United States is not a very old country so we have had the advantage of the history and wisdom from all of the great nations that have been in existence for millennia. When a group first decides to form a society, one of the most importance things to the survival and growth of that group is the set of laws in which they live by. In early times, it was an unwritten set of laws that people lived by, it was understood what was expected and what would happen if a person broke a law. Eventually, the Romans saw need to put the laws down in writing so everyone could understand what was expected and it wasn’t left up to much to word of mouth learning. After some time, Napoleon decided to adapt a set of written laws and it was called the Napoleonic Code and is still used today. In England in roughly 1066 A.D. developed after the Norman Conquest, common law came to be decided by Judge’s decisions in court cases, and eventually came the birth of “stare decisis”, which means to stand by the decisions previously made. This concept has had a huge impact on the legal system in England as well as the United States. In the United States, there are four primary sources of laws: Constitutions (both federal and state), statutes, court decisions, and administrative regulations. Looking over these sources, it’s easy to see how history has had its hand in the......

The Most Critical Issue the U.S Is Facing Is the Federal Regulatory Expenses.

...Burrows March 2, 2012 FINAL PROJECT 8 The most critical issue the U.S is facing is The Federal regulatory expenses. U.S. is on the path for a deficit of 1.5 trillion or more in the future. The funding reduction that should be cut out is the Federal regulatory expenses, Federal spending US cut; it could raise the economy backup and help the US out of debt. The Federal spending has developed out of proportion and is growing and not reducing the deficit. Some people believe that part of this careless budget is due to regulatory efforts. By cutting this funding tax payers and the economy could be building back up. Even President Obama’s acknowledgement about the extra federal regulations had subdued innovation which had a disturbing outcome on growth and jobs. New public companies in the United States, capital business, and entrepreneurship have all been affected by the result of federal regulations. Some people believe that part of this irresponsible budget is allocated to regulatory efforts. By reading the research and report my criteria would be for renewed economic growth to reduce regulations, so businesses are free and motivated to expand and update. By cutting agency budgets the Federal budget would not only be reduced, but it would have the added benefit of lowering the overall budget. All businesses should get a chance to start or update their businesses with an overall success rating. The second most critical issue the US is facing is the flow......
