Child Prostitution as a Form of Work: An Analysis of “Neneng” by Merlinda Bobis I. Introduction
Background of the study Child is as innocent as water during spring time but nowadays children are typically faced to what reality is, that many people are poor, they are now faced to this problem that they tend to shoulder what an adult is experiencing. Poverty is the typical problem known by them, they saw their parents suffering at work just to make an everyday living because of this some help their parents to work even if it means not going to school and not being able to play like any other children at their age, some were forced by their parents to work so that these children would be able to go to school and have their own money without suffering the budget for the family. Prostitution is rampant not only here in the Philippines but around the world, though every country were fighting against it still the cases grew larger and larger each year and some people involved in this case are children. It is a wide spread illness that can’t be easily eliminated and some people blame poverty as the reason why they engage in this kind of activity, it became their source of income whether they like it or not. It seem that this kind of activity is not only present in today’s generation rather its presence is as old as time, it doesn’t cease to exist even if many years have pass and the cases became more severe as time goes by.
Children are referred as innocent as an angel and prostitution is a common problem in every country; but it is not a secret that in today’s society child prostitution exists in many places that it is not only adults who engage in this kind activity, it involves innocent children, children who doesn’t know the real meaning of what they are doing or if they know…...

The Day I Got Married

...No one knew I would awaken as a young eighteen year old and fall asleep as a married adult. My husband still believes I married him only for a day off of work and Bob Evans breakfast. The day I got married was a surprise to us all. We ourselves nor our families were expecting the day’s events. My morning started off quite typical as my fiancé and I were deciding on the breakfast he should cook as I was getting ready for work in our little one bedroom apartment. Dustin my fiancé, decided to make french toast while I showered. That is what started it all. After my shower we sat down to eat breakfast, but after the first bite we realized french toast that tasted like a cast iron skillet wasn’t going to work. We were full of jokes 10 years ago, just as we are today. After the epic fail of breakfast, we started talking about our life together, and I said, “Hey, let’s get married.” Of course he laughed at me while asking if I was serious. “Why not,” I said,” We have the rings, we can drive to Virginia and I’ll take the day off of work.” After a little talking and deciding we got ready and had our day planned out. We set off for directions and a quick tutorial from a coworker of my fiancés. Of course they thought we were crazy, but why not? We started our drive to Virginia with smiles on our faces, nervousness throughout our bodies and the growls of hungry stomachs wanting breakfast. After the six hour drive to the Virginia Courthouse, finding our way through the......

"I Do" the Day I Married the Love of My Life

...1 1/16/13 “I Do” After almost a year of planning, tasting cake, sending out invitations, finding and booking a reception hall, music DJ, and church, the day has finally arrived. The date was August 21st 2010, and it was the day I married the love of my life. The day I met Amy, and every day I have spent with her since that day has been the greatest experience of my life so far. I woke up that morning with a ton of thoughts and emotions running through my head. I felt excited, nervous, happy, and anxious all at the same time. After I got up and had something to eat, I started to get ready when I found a gift from my fiancé in my bag. It came with a card that said; “Can’t wait until I see you today. Love Always Amy”. I unwrapped the gift, opened the box and found Superman cuff links. It was the perfect gift because I am a huge Superman collector and fan. I finished getting ready and started helping my fiancé’s son Damian get dressed. I remember thinking to myself “what a perfect day”. The sun was out, and there was not a cloud in the morning sky. The weather was not the main reason the day was perfect. The day was perfect because I was marrying my best friend, and becoming the stepfather of two incredible kids that I love as if they are my own children. I finished helping Damian get dressed, and then after taking some pictures we headed over to the church. Once we arrived at the church and took some more pictures, it was time to start the service. I stood alone......

Why Did I Get Married

...Billy doesn’t believe the iron will burn his hand because it’s not fire red. Billy touches the iron and his hand is burned. Next time Billy listens to the warnings that are given to him. Some people listen from the start of the situation. Some people just listen well and will evaluate for themselves. They take a step back and decide whether or not they should do what they were told not to do. A transformational experience that I went through to bring me to my lowest point was getting married and going to the military. Little did I know I had so much to learn about what a woman expects you to do and what the military tells makes you do. I was between a rock and a hard place. I chose to leave both. First the military to smooth things over with my wife, then the wife to have a peace of mind. The phase that applies mostly to me is self evaluation. I took long hard years for me to get to this point. When you evaluate something to see what the outcome would be. I have learned just from my wife evaluating me. I call it constructive criticism. She makes sure I can’t point the finger at anyone but myself. The most important key to remember in self transformation is that you have to go through something to get where you need to be....

I Am a Man of Vision

...I AM A MAN OF VISION by Salome F Baria I am a man of vision. I dream to pursue every single strand of my aspirations. I desire to live in an atmosphere where I could enjoy my rights and privileges as a youngster, and liberty to do what I know is best for me and my generation. Thus, I have a mission. Mission to preserve my present world wherein I could satisfy my hunger and thirst for real freedom. My province Apayao is my world…my cherished place. Young ever as it is yet power packed with countless bounties. Patiently waiting for the perfect moment to be made known. Here I am! I stand and advance with much vigor and vigilance. I shall conquer the dynamo concealed within each corner of this region…for its own glory and for my advantage. Everything is perfectly beautiful in this place. The resources endowed by God. Vast mountain ranges and plains monopolized by income-generating privileges and reigned by exotic creatures. Matched by crystal clear streams and rivers inhabited by fellow living things. Oh how can I preclude myself from adoring this place? Nothing is to be compared absolutely. For from dawn to twilight, its radiance shall never fail. The culture of this place is a priceless treasure. It transcends through towns and villages and it is a unifying factor among all ages: be it young or old, fortunate and the less. Culture reflects the past, uniquely empowers the present, and foretells what life looks life ahead. It is indeed more than the tadek, baag,......

Why Did I Get Married

...March It began in 1838 a long line of Cherokee Indians Trudged through the Georgia countyside. These Native Americans were heading for the Indian Territory in Oklahoma. It was not the Cherokees that chose to make, this long, difficult and kaotic trip. The U.S government forced them out of their homes and set them on this long and disturbing journey. A few Indians traveled by water. Most traveled by land. Woman carried their babies and the sick and elderly traveled by wagons. In fact A gentleman by the name of George Hicks led one of the cherokee groups in fact before departing he sent a letter to the leader of the departing cherokees and stated that it was with great sorrow that they were being forced by the white man out of the state away from home were they were born and raised and sent him a farewell. The trip to the Indian territory took about six months. They were about sixteen thousand cherokees that marched through the rain, snow, and bitter cold. Traveling about one thousand {text:soft-page-break} miles away. Traveling without food, clothing,or shelter. How horrific it was for the four thousand people that died on this route and in doing so never had a proper burial they had to be buried in shallow unmarked graves. Having to bury forteen and fifteen people at every stop. How? We ask the U.S could not be bothered to share America's riches with a different race which whom they viewed as inferior and less civil to their own......

I Got Married

...I Got Married There are a lot of things in your life that will have cause and effect from medical to personal. One of the most rewarding cause and effects I can think of is when a person falls in love and gets married. Life as I know it would be completely different if I never said the words “I will” on January three. Knowing my former self I would not be very happy with myself today if I never met and married my beautiful wife. She changed my life for the better. Before I met my wife I was a lost soul looking for something that I thought existed somewhere. All I would find though was nothing but trouble. I drank too much and hung out with the wrong crowd. The group I hung around was all about drinking and one night stands. Not getting serious with anyone no matter what. Keeping everyone at a distance ready to move on in the blink of an eye, I guess that was just part of my military mentality. I can remember countless times of waking up somewhere with someone, with no clue how I got there or who the girl was because I drank so much that I got to the point that I would passed out. When I met my wife my world changed slowly but surely for the better. I stopped hanging out with those people and more or less stopped drinking. She helped me see things in a different light, since she is one of the most responsible people I know. She showed me that there was more to life than drinking and having one night stands. Since I met my wife my life has taken a turn for the better. I...

To the Man I Married Analysis

...Literary Piece #1 To the Man I Married Angela Manalang Gloria I You are my earth and all that earth implies: The gravity that ballasts me in space, The air I breathe, the land that stills my cries For food and shelter against devouring days. You are the earth whose orbit marks my way And sets my north and south, my east and west, Your are the final, elemental clay The driven heart must turn to for its rest. If in your arms that hold me now so near I lift my keening thoughts to another one, As trees long rooted to the earth uprear Their quickening leaves and flowers to the sun, You who are earth, O never doubt that I Need you no less because I need the sky! II I can not love you with a love That outcompares the boundless sea, For that were false, as no such love And no such ocean can ever be. But I can love you with a love As finite as the wave that dies And dying holds from crest to crest The blue of everlasting skies. In this poem, a woman metaphorically compares her husband to the earth. She considers the man she married as the “earth” that nourishes her and. Her husband provides her all her needs. Her husband gives her all the means to live. In the poem, she claims that the man she married is the reason why she survives. He is also a sure shelter to protect her from harm. He is the direction of her life. He is also the one whom she wants to be with until her life is gone. With much acknowledgement to her love for her husband, she also mentions of “another one” to......

"To the Man I Married" by Angela Manalang-Gloria

...“To the Man I Married”. A sonnet is a poem written in 14 lines that has 10 syllables each line and a very specific rhyme scheme. The sonnet “to the Man I Married” is a metaphorical way of Angela in showing how much she loves and needs her husband. This is everything that she felt for her husband even after his death. I. “You are my earth and all that earth implies: The gravity that ballasts me in space, The air I breathe, the land that stills my cries For food and shelter against devouring days. You are the earth whose orbit marks my way And sets my north and south, my east and west, Your are the final, elemental clay The driven heart must turn to for its rest.” In these lines, Angela considered her husband her earth. The earth that provides her with everything that she needs in her life. He is her earth where her food is grown. Her husband is her shelter. He is the “air” that she breathes, the one that keeps her alive. He is the one that gives her directions through the marks that the “orbit” leaves, the one that sets her north and south, her east and west. He is her final elemental clay. Not only does her earth provide her life, he also provides her place to rest by the time she rejoins the Almighty Creator. “If in your arms that hold me now so near I lift my keening thoughts to another one, As trees long rooted to the earth uprear Their quickening leaves and flowers to the sun, You who are earth, O never doubt that......

I Am the Man

...I am studying bachelor of Accounting in Australia. Thomas Alva Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb. Dubbed "The Wizard of Menlo Park" (now Edison, New Jersey) by a newspaper reporter, he was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of mass production and large-scale teamwork to the process of invention, and because of that, he is often credited with the creation of the first industrial research laboratory.[1] Edison is the fourth most prolific inventor in history, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. He is credited with numerous inventions that contributed to mass communication and, in particular, telecommunications. These included a stock ticker, a mechanical vote recorder, a battery for an electric car, electrical power, recorded music and motion pictures. His advanced work in these fields was an outgrowth of his early career as a telegraph operator. Edison originated the concept and implementation of electric-power generation and distribution to homes, businesses, and factories – a crucial development in the modern industrialized world. His first power station was on Manhattan Island, New York. Thomas Edison was born in Milan, Ohio, and grew up in Port Huron,......
