Changes in Workforce Demographics and the Future of Work and Retirement
Dr. Jost Lottes
Institute on Aging Portland State University

No single trend will play a larger role in shaping the social, economic, and geopolitical order throughout the developed and developing world than global aging

A historic transformation approaches— the “inversion” of the age pyramid.
•!Populations throughout history have all shown a steep pyramid-shaped age distribution—with more young than old people. •!In the near future, starting with developed countries, the distribution will transform into an inverted pyramid— with more old than young people.

Considering, there are different ways to access a higher education, it is clear to see that understanding your options of traditional and online programs can certainly help you decide which method best meets your needs and individual situation. In Fact, looking at the benefits each option offers can guide you in making a responsible educational decision on which program is right for you. Even though obtaining a traditional education can be beneficial and similar to online education, the flexibility, environment, and length of class makes online a better decision. Looking further within the variables of flexibility, traditional education is considered to be very structured. The classes are set for specific times and days of the week without change. ...RULE OF LAW: THE LAMP THAT ILLUMINATES By: Elai The law is the last result of human wisdom acting upon human experience for the benefit of the public. -Dr. Samuel Johnson- In one of my seemingly usual college days, my professor in International Law unexpectedly lowered her wall and allowed her students to see her evident desperation over our nation’s state of affairs. This emotion was triggered by the fact that the white board marker did not have enough ink to allow the professor to scribble an outline of her day’s lecture. She was desperate because she was supposed to be honing the most brilliant minds in the country’s premiere university. And this premiere state university did not even have the minimum facilities for her to do just that. An example - the white board marker that does not leave a mark at all. In the midst of her outburst, and with tears in her eyes, she said “ I hoped that my generation could bequeath you with a nation you deserve. I hoped. I guess in more ways, we have failed you.” Sooner than expected, half of the members of the class were likewise crying. This made our professor ask her students why. We told her “your generation was better than ours and you failed. What will the next generation expect of us?” A few years later, the constantly confused law student that I am, I find myself pondering at the scene and finding its relevance as I try to understand the role that the rule of law has to play in the development of our......

...paragraph should be at least three sentences. Cite your sources as you go by placing citations immediately after the info you took from a source or after a direct quote. You cannot just put a citation at the end of a long paragraph if it contains both information from a source and your comments. When you use one citation at the end of a paragraph, it looks like everything in the paragraph came from the source. Direct quotes must have quotation marks around them or, if the quote is 40 or more words, be indented without quotation marks. The quote must also have a proper APA style citation following it. Long quotes are done line this: Xxxx yyyy zzzz aaaa bbbb qqqq ffff ssss llll gggg, tttt, yyyy and llll. Rrrr hhhh jjjj wwww nnnn dddd mmmm bbbb. Xxxx yyyy zzzz aaaa bbbb qqqq ffff ssss llll gggg, tttt, yyyy and llll. Rrrr hhhh jjjj wwww nnnn dddd mmmm bbbb. Xxxx yyyy zzzz aaaa bbbb qqqq ffff ssss llll gggg and llll. Rrrr hhhh ww nnnn dddd mmmm bbbb. (Moore, 2011) Notice the period goes before the citation on a block quote. Normally, the period goes after the citation, like this (Moore, 2011). Please avoid long paragraphs. They are too difficult to follow and it is better to have multiple short paragraphs of three or more sentences, than one long paragraph that extends for a couple pages. Whenever there is a new idea, make a new paragraph. Level 1 Heading Again Level 1 does not mean Section one. You can have multiple level 1 headings as they are used to head main......
