Why I Believe in The Deity Of Christ
If I were asked why I believe in the deity of Christ my initial response would be because the Bible clearly and unequivocally describes Christ as divine. This was my belief prior to my reading assignments and I now believe that with a new level of certainty.Actually all of the reading assignments took me back to my firm belief in the Bible and the truth contained in it.

First of all, I agree with the church's historical belief that "Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man in one person, and will be so forever." Reading in the Allison text about all of the challenges to this belief was both inspiring and troubling. Inspiring because each heretical line of thought was defeated. Troubling because the challenges kept coming, and they still do today. I would point out to the person questioning the deity of Christ how the great thinkers of each time eventually came back to the original premise for Christ's deity. From Docetism in the early church to the challenge by John Hicks in his book "The Myth of the Incarnate" in the modern period, a scholarly review of the scriptures show the deficiencies in every challenge.I would also point out how many of the challengers slightly altered truth and without a thorough study of the Bible, it would be easy to be deceived.

A great evaluation of the evidence given in scripture for the deity of Christ was done by Bowman and Komoszewski. I really enjoyed the book "Putting Jesus In His Place" and will use it as a tool to defend the deity of Christ. The presentation of the HANDS narrative gave a uncomplicated, yet effective defense of Jesus' deity. I would share the following: Jesus does share HONORS due only God. Jesus shares ATTRIBUTES of God. Jesus shares the NAMES that are used of God. Jesus shares in DEEDS that only God can do. Jesus shares the SEAT of God (Jesus sits on God's throne).…...

...southern Ohio. For nineteen years now, I have looked out to the same beautiful scenery when I look out my bedroom window. My backyard is covered with rolling hills, filled with the greenest of trees during the hot summer months. Surrounding my home is the most stunning fields of corn that tend to look even more magnificent when the sun sets behind them, accentuating their golden color in the fall. Throughout my whole life in this rural town I call home, I have heard how know matter where you go in life you will return home in the end. I could not disagree more with that typical belief. Growing up in a such a serene and tranquil place has truly been a blessing in disguise. I have always had the best family I could ask for. My parents have always supported me in all that I have done and my two sisters are my best friends. That love and support never wavered, not even when I made the decision to attend college at a university that was 4 hours away. I went to a high school where I could recognize each face I saw and lived in a neighborhood where everyone graciously waves at everyone. Few people in my hometown strayed away from the things they had grown accustomed to; however, growing up I was always knew I was different than the rest. Since a young age, I was always attending multiple different summer and sports camps and staying overnight with friends and family for weeks at a time. I love home and the people here but when I graduated high school I viewed it as an opportunity......

Why I Believe in God

...about religion, most people begin to get upset or walk away from you. Many people do not want to understand or know how someone can start believing in a God that you cannot see, feel, or touch. Everyone is entitled to believe in whoever he or she wants to believe in, just because that person cannot see, does not give the other person the right to say that no one else should. There are so many who find it joyous to get to know God. The ethics in Christianity are all in the Word of God. For many of us, we do not need to put someone else down because of the way they choose to believe. God freely gives us a choice as to whether or not we believe in Him or anything else. The people in the church are not called to deliver hate filled messages to anyone, but to encourage and help them understand that there is better way to truly living their lives. Many Christians want to preach the Gospel in a way that makes God seems as if He hates us, when in fact, it is the total opposite. There are many people who walk on this earth, and they are hurting because of experiences within the church, something happened to him or her as a child, been in bad relationships, etc. Most people highly doubt that God cannot help him or her. The true Christians, those of them that truly believe in a sovereign God, will say that it is not easy living according to the Bible. Many people debate that God is not real; however, many studies have been conducted to refute these claims. The history of Christianity......

I Believe

... I Believe I Am A Child of God At the young age of eighteen, my life was changed in a drastic way. Through out my childhood and teenage years, my mother and father tried to force God down my throat and not till this life changing moment did I realize why. I could have been living a worldly life striving for popularity, having expensive things, and living in sin, but I chose to be a follower of Christ because he gave his life for me. The first day of high school, boy was I worried. Would I make friends? Will anyone like me? I need to make sure I have only the coolest clothes and latest handbag, if not people wont like me. I forced my mom to take me to the mall weekly, practically to Nordstrom and Saks Fifth and spend hundreds of dollars so that I wouldn’t be the loser wearing last seasons clothing. My choice of style helped me gain a high level of respect at school because people wanted to be just like me. This made me happy to know that I was cool and fit in with the popular clan. I began to disrespect my family and bully people because I let worldly desires get to me. My world came crashing down when my parents stop giving in to my excessive shopping, and people began to criticize me for being popular. My family and closest friends would call me “a spoiled brat” and other names. Normally, these types of actions keep you high on a pedestal but not for me, I in other words was kicked to the curb. Sunday morning, “Lorraine! Wake up! Its time for church!” I......

I Am Sayings of Jesus Christ

...I Am Sayings Paper BIBL 323 B12 The Gospel of John Liberty University Abstract Jesus Christ was the most influential and the most controversial of all God’s teachers and prophets. His time spent discussing His deity by use of metaphors such as the I AM sayings lead the Pharisees to believe less in Him as the messiah, and more in him as being crazy. To understand Jesus’s claim to be the good shepherd, it is important to review the evidence of the claim compare it to the Old Testament which points toward Christ and apply the finds to the claims of Jesus’ deity.  Jesus the Good Shepherd John wrote his Gospel of Jesus Christ for two reasons. The first reason was to communicate the message of Christ by providing examples of His miracles and his teaching in order to generate belief in the unbeliever that Jesus was who he said he was: the Son of God (Towns, 2002). The second reason was that those who then believed would have eternal life because of the faith that Jesus Christ was truly the fulfillment of the Messianic prophesies as Savior and Lord (Ibid). Jesus’ teaching style was not always easy to understand, and often created dissention between those who believed, and those who did not. He lessons linked who He was to prophesy about Him made by Old Testament prophets. In John’s Gospel there are eight lessons that are known as the “I Am” sayings that exemplify this teaching style by linking Him to well-known images and symbols provided in the Old......

Why Should I Believe in God

I Believe

...605 I Believe In my “this I believe essay”, I stated that I believe that everyone deserves a chance. A few have a feel other beliefs that are not mentioned. They are that respect shouldn’t be earned to give it, and no one is too young to be responsible. This has kind of developed recently, well one of them. I have always believed that everyone should respect each other regardless, however responsibility should come at any age. However my biggest belief is that everyone deserves a chance. In my future profession, I plan on either becoming a store manage/director for a Hy-Vee store, or to become an athletic director for some sort of institution. Whether it is a college or some school, as long as I stay in the midwest I’ll be content. For the most part, to acquire jobs like these ill have to be kind hearted, and organized with the job. On top of those, ill have to learn to work with people, employees or customers, be able to give up hours outside my job, and know that I can’t quit on a certain task until the job is completed. There are plenty of reasons why I chose this. I have worked at Hy-vee since I was fourteen years old. Since then, I have been given plenty of chances to learn new things, and have acquired a number of skills to make me a better person. The reason why I have chosen this as my future occupation is probably because some of the people you get to meet on a daily basis. I am a very social person, and I like being nice whenever I can. Every moment that I......

Why Is It Important to Know What You Believe and What Do You Believe About God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ

...know what you believe so you can make the correct decisions in life based on your personal values, and judge the best way to solve problems in your life. It is also important to know what you believe so if questioned you can intelligently address the concern. If you KNOW you can present the inquisitor with facts so they can evaluate them for themselves. My Beliefs 1.) I believe in God. He is the creator of all things including me. The world and everything in it is so intricate it could not have happened by chance or evolved over billions of years. 2.) I believe the Bible is the word of God. I believe this because the Bible meets the needs of all mankind. If you need comfort, love, forgivness, or faith you can find some verse or chapter to address the need. I also believe the Bible because I have accepted Jesus into my life and have faith that that the Bible is true. 3.) I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in him also because of faith. Jesus died in order to forgive us of our sins. Just because I cannot see him it does not mean he is not real. No matter what I am going through I know he’s there. If I need healing I pray and believe in him. If I need guidance in making a decision I ask and trust he will guide me. The hard part is to remain patient while waiting for him to show me the answers I seek. While waiting I keep praying to stay close to him. This way I do not......

I Believe

...I Believe I believe everyone should stand up for what they may believe in. Standing up for what you believe in can get you many places in life. It is a great thing to do even if you are standing alone. Because if you are the only one speaking out there are many more sitting in silence. I decided to stand up for my teammates this year because my coach was giving unfair treatment to her players. She had been ignoring them and rolling her eyes at them. And being one of the many on the team I decided to ask her about it and all she could was give me an answer that had nothing to do with my question of “What do we need to improve on as a team to get proper treatment?” Her response was “try harder.” Well we were trying our hardest n practice to get her attention while the people she joked around with jogged during punishment and laughed with her. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went and talked to the head coach who set up a meeting with all three of us. The meeting went well and my coach cleaned up her attitude a little bit. But now the head coach is not in anyone’s favor on the team. On our playoff shirts she wrote “OLC” on the back which stood for our last chance. What she was clearly implying was that we do not have a chance and she has no faith in us. And having a coach who doesn’t have faith in you makes you wonder if she even cares about the team. And on top of that she almost got the whole basketball team killed by parking on the railroad tracks. We......

The Deity of Christ

...What makes Christ to be God? If Christ truly is God, He must have certain attributes that qualify Him to be so. Many doubt the deity of Christ. There are many different viewpoints as to why Christ is not God. Each detracts from the strength of the gospel. If Christ was not God, then He lied when He claimed that He was. If He is a lair, then He was not a sinless sacrifice when He died on the cross. If He was not sinless, He loses the ability to save man from sin. Therefore, it is so important for Christians that Christ be God. Christ is one hundred percent God even though He was one hundred percent man. The evidence is displayed in His attributes through His power, His holiness, and His omniscience. First, Jesus displays His deity through His Power. In Matthew 28:18, Jesus claims to possess all power in heaven and in earth. Where did this power come from? No power over the heaven and earth, either authoritative or supernatural power, can be given by man. The power must come from God. God has the authority over heaven and earth as said in Isaiah 66:1. Because Jesus contained this power, He must be God. Many times Jesus displayed his power over nature. He calmed the storm with His words, fed over five thousand people with just five loaves and two fishes, walked on water, turned the water into wine, exists eternally, and performed many more miracles. “How did Jesus calm the storm? Again, the answer is obvious: His deity. Jesus had such power over creation that His words......

I Believe

...I believe in the power of words, I believe that words can destroy us or cure us. Last year I had witnessed my best friend sinking into depression because of the bullying she received from people in school and her boyfriend cheated on her. It pained me to see her like that, but then she started spending her break time in the library and therefore isolating herself. After a while she was getting better and started seeking help. When I asked her why, she said that she read somewhere that “life damages us, everyone, we can’t escape the damage, but we can be mended. We mend each other‘’ It puzzled me to see how words from the society put her down but at the same time a few words mended her. Then I started noticing stuff, for example you turn on a TV and you watch people crying or laughing because of one person holding the microphone. Furthermore the most important job of a leader before a war is to shower his soldiers with words of hope and to rise their spirits. Another example is that Shiekh Zayed Al Nahian , the founder of United Arab Emirates, built a nation 50 years ago and united his people by strong determination, vision and words to reflect that. I believe that the only strong weapon all the leaders have is the power of words, whether they used it to drive their nation to war and their destruction or to unite their people and build a nation. I believe that a word is like a living organism that never dies; even Shakespeare once said in his sonnets that he will always......

Why I Believe (on Spirituality and Mathematics)

...Why I Believe The beliefs I hold can be derived from a set of unprovable, yet self-evident axioms. Among these are that logic and mathematics are at the core of truth, that the scientific method is effective in discerning the truth, and that observable phenomenon is a reflection of reality. These I take on faith so long as they yield results which are self-consistent. I also allow myself beliefs which are not provable even from these axioms, but for which there exists no contradictory evidence. However, there is no conviction I hold so strongly that I consider it infallible. All beliefs should be challenged, and I am constantly revising my beliefs to cater to logic and nature. Still, I can and must have some beliefs for which there is no proof, but none for which there exists evidence that contradicts them. Above all, we must believe logic and mathematics are the keys to truth. All provably true results are a result of logic, and all results are consistent with one another. This must be taken on faith, for it serves as our only way of objectively approaching truth. Some people have suggested the possibility that we may someday find that logic and mathematics do not govern truth and that indeed there is some more accurate approach we ought to be taking. This, of course, would be a very difficult point to argue to someone who believes logic is key to reality. That aside, logic is embedded in the human brain. It seems to govern thought itself. We accept logic and math as the...

What I Believe

...I believe that this book Christianity 101, as its catchy title shows, purports to be a textbook of basic theology, and in all fairness there are some doctrines in there that are evangelical and orthodox. However, it soon becomes clear that is more a vehicle to convey the hermeneutic. In an ironic way, therefore, I agree with Bill Hybels’ verdict: However Christianity 101 is organized according to eight chapters reflecting, innocuously enough, the author’s “eight basic Christian beliefs”: I believe the true revelation of God reveals himself in two ways these are called general revelation and Special revelation each one is explained to different but obtained from God in a roundabout way revelation. God in nature speaks of the lover that one have of God’s creation the Author of Revelation and the giver of the vision to the apostle John (Revelation 1:1). As such, He concludes the book with a confirmation of His testimony to the finality of the prophecies contained in Revelation. These are His words, and He warns against distorting them in any way, whether through additions, subtractions, falsifications, alterations, or intentional misinterpretations. The warning is explicit and dire. The plagues of Revelation will be visited upon anyone guilty of tampering in any way with the revelations in the book, and those who dare to do so will have no part in eternal life in heaven. Each of the areas of general revelation deserves to be closely examined and appropriately interpreted.......

Chenault | Why I Believe Poverty can be direct Connection to obesity There are many factors that can contribute to being overweight. Some of the contributors can range from, limited resources and lack of access to healthy affordable foods, cycles of food deprivation and over eating, fewer opportunities for physical activity, and high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. I believe all of these factors can be linked directly to poverty and obesity. Low income neighborhoods frequently lack full service grocery stores and farmers markets where residents can buy a variety of high quality fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low fat dairy products. Instead, residents – especially those without reliable transportation, may be limited to shopping at small neighborhood convenience and corner stores, where fresh produce and low fat items are limited, if available at all. I believe without reliable transportation low income households food choices and purchases may be constrained by limits on how much can be carried when walking or using public transportation. I believe that those who are eating less or skipping meals to stretch food budgets may over eat when food does become available resulting in chronic ups and downs in food intake that can contribute to weight gain. The...
