Why the Cross

...THE CROSS!!! WHAT? WHY? HOW? ARE YOU? By: Paul A. Lundgrin Contents 1. What happened to Jesus Christ on the Cross? 2. Why did the cross of Christ have to happen? 3. How does the Cross of Christ affect you and me? 4. Are you receiving the Seal of God or the Mark of the Beast? INTRODUCTION Have you ever wondered about what really happened to Jesus on the Cross, why it happened and how that affects you? If nothing of consequence happened there that day, then it was just another atrocity of mankind against mankind. But what if something more than that took place? You owe it to yourself to at least hear what the Bible says happened and then you can decide whether it makes sense and whether it matters to you. In this reading you will be challenged with many questions. This pamphlet will not answer all of the questions, but hopefully it will introduce you to vital questions that need to be asked and help you to begin finding the answers. Why They Serve

...Serving in the Army When reading these three texts about serving in the US Army, it gives three different views on how it is. In the first text by Sarah Palin, it is her son who enlist, to protect and serve his country, or ad she say in the text, he did it because of the younger generation in our family … he wanted them to grow up in a safe world. The most important statement she wants to give to us, is that we should not allow our kids to go in to war, and risk their lives, never knowing if they will be coming home alive or in a casket. On the other hand se can´t seem to understand why those kids chose to enlist in the first place, why not stay home and get a collage degree and take care of your family. Then if we take a look at text number two by David Zucchino, he talks about a man who have come home from service, and no longer is the same as before…..today he sufferers from PTSD which he will never recover completely from, the main focus of this text is to tell us that the soldiers who do service in the US Army and who has been sent in to war, never becomes the same when they come home, there are almost no offers for them, no treatment. It is also the story about a father that allowed his son to go in to war, and risk his life… as the father says in the end of the text…..”I wish he had never gone in”. Last but not least we got text number 3 written by, Joel Pitney, this time it is about the making of a marine officer, the main character in this text is lieutenant......

Why Cook

...| Why Cook? | | | Brian Curtis Maureen DattiloDVUO ENG135 Sec I | 6/5/2010 | | With all the choices of “ready prepared meals”, fast food, take out, and delivery it is easy to ask the question “Why should I cook my own meals?” While one might think that cooking can only get dinner on the table, one might also be wrong. The foods we eat play a crucial role in how our mind and body operate. Through cooking one can make smarter decisions to fuel the mind and body properly, while eliminating deficiencies that can cause an imbalance in the nutrients that are needed for healthy life. Not only is food a detrimental factor to health, it also has deep roots into our social world. Everyone has a fond memory of home cooked meals shared over the dinner table, or pleasant times with friends enjoying a nice meal. These fond memories help build bonds that create our social life and help make us who we are. By cooking meals and sharing them with the people that are important in life it is easy to see that cooking, besides getting dinner on the table, can benefit not only your physical and mental health but also contributes to your social life. Health benefits One of the most obvious benefits to cooking is a healthier life. Instead of eating already prepared foods that are loaded with additives, cooking allows a person to eat food in its natural state. Starting from natural foods eliminates unwarranted ingredients from being introduced to your diet that can have......

Why Rehabilitation

...Why Rehabilitation Karmella Moten Kaplan University The penal system today is a multi-million dollar industry, with about 1,325 state and 84 federal prisons the entire country has the capacity to incarcerate its criminal population. The past three decades will be remembered as a time of overwhelming imprisonment, because of the concerns with community protection reaching an outstanding high, with the firm drug laws and strict repeat offenders putting more people behind bars. Incarceration, however, is not the main objective of prisons; they also serve two important purposes, punishment and rehabilitation. Prisons have been designed and operated for years with these two objectives in mind; sometimes the punishment and the rehabilitation are separate from one another, most of the time they go hand in hand, the punishment for the crime and the rehabilitation to return to society. Punishment is the infliction of a penalty as retribution for an offense. There are several ways our correctional system punishes offenders today, ranging from confinement to capital punishment, confinement being the most predominant. This includes: tight living quarters, sometimes solitary confinement, strict house rules and minimal contact with the outside world, all of which can be draining on an inmate’s morale. The death penalty is the harshest punishment the court system can impose. It has come in many forms since its birth and has become very controversial in recent years. Though now......

Why Nursing

...Why nursing? For me, it was a life altering decision. I had already established a successful career in accounting, but the call to a new profession was strong. There were many occasions during my life where I have spent hours sitting at a hospital bedside. My mother battled a long time with autoimmune disease that advanced to Lymphoma and I the opportunity to be with her during the end of her life. That’s where I saw the amazing work that nurses do. One day a nurse started describing to me what she was doing, and I found myself overwhelmed. It was like I had been wearing blinders, and they suddenly came off. I realized I had discovered what I really wanted to do. I immediately set a new gal for myself. I enrolled in Stony Brook University graduating with a degree in Biology in December 2007. I was then accepted into Suffolk Community Nursing program. It was during finals of my last semester that my father became very ill. After graduation in May 2010, I spent the next six months spending hours sitting at his bedside. It was at the end of that year he was hospitalized for intensive chemotherapy for AML. Although he lost his battle with AML, again I had the opportunity to observe the nurses and I was impressed by their integral role. During one of my many conversations with my father he asked, “if being a nurse was really what I wanted to do”. Watching the staff and being inspired by their commitment, self-sacrifice and undivided concern, I am more......

Undderstanding Why

...Homelessness: Understanding Why Abstract In January of 2014, 578,424 people were going through homelessness, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. The three main reasons for the large measure of homeless families and people in America and other countries as well are affordable housing, low wages, and mental illnesses. Other reasons also include addictions, abuse, health care, and/or natural occurrences are contributors towards the distressing circumstances of homelessness, which often leads to divorce, health concerns, and educational obstacles. This paper introduces where homeless began and where it needs to end. Homelessness: Understanding Why T.S, Elliot stated “Home is where we start from”. David Belgum, a volunteer Chaplin with the Salvation Army Corp, asked these simple questions, “Is the length of residence in one place a criterion? How substantial does it have to be to be classified as a home? Who should judge whether or not the category of homelessness is to be applied in a given situation—the resident or residents, or someone from the "establishment"?” (Belgum). For many people this is true, but for many it’s not, but whose call is it to make? Many studies are inadequate when it comes to know accurately knowing how many people are in shelters or on the streets. The information found through these studies can be helpful when it comes to knowing roughly the amount of people that use the places like shelters and soup kitchens, but it......

I have also attended a lecture on ‘Nurture Vs Nature’ by Steve Jones which was mainly about the impact of genes as well as the environment o our behavior and our lives. I got to find out about a study which showed that there is a gene that leads the increase in the likelihood of criminal activity. I had also attended a lecture at UCL which was basically about our recent concerning over use of antibiotics for treatment and usage in farms for animals. This could lead to the creation of deadly superbugs and potentially untreatable diseases. This made me feel like I had a duty to help this situation and this is why my interest in biology increased further. I want to research the ways we can overcome these problems. I have also been to a trip to Wales which is ecologically diverse and rich area. On this school trip we got to see the change in abundance of species as the environment changes. It was interesting to find out about how species adapt and how competition and natural selection determines the survival of species. I have also been a science mentor in school and this taught me people skills and improved my communicative skills. I also feel that it helped me revise my subjects and made me look at some topics in a different light. Why the Jews

...HOMEJewish Holidays Tisha B'Av Anti-Semitism & Suffering Why the Jews – Part 1 Understanding the root of the world's longest hatred. by Raphael Shore Prejudice, it seems, is a standard fare of life. In his folksong entitled "National Brotherhood Week," Tom Lehrer sings: Oh the Protestants hate the Catholics, and the Catholics hate the Protestants, and the Hindus hate the Muslims and everybody hates the Jews. In this song, Lehrer expresses the truism that hatred for the Jew is uniquely commonplace. The Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, blood libels, pogroms, countless expulsions and the systematic murder of 6 million. The question is: Why? What lies behind these millennium of hatred? Why has the undercurrent of anti-Semitism bubbled and boiled and exploded against Jews everywhere, time and again throughout history? In this 8-part seminar, we will examine the root reason for the world's longest hatred. Causes versus Excuses – How Can We Tell the Difference? When we study any theory, it is important to distinguish between a "cause" and an "excuse." The difference is not difficult to recognize: When one thing causes another, if we remove the cause, the effect should vanish. If, on the other hand, one thing is an excuse for another, then even after taking away the excuse, the effect will remain. A child who is chronically late to school may say in his defense, "But I don’t have a watch. How do you expect me to get to school in time if I don’t have......
