Introduction
We have undertaken studies in our companies to understand the correlation between structure and performance. We have made an attempt to disintegrate the level of complexity in the structures and what impact it exercises on the output or performance. We have explored the above subject keeping in mind that the important variables while dealing with organisation structure are – formalization (rules, routines), centralization (hierarchy, use of authority, verticality), control systems (span of control), coupling and structural embeddedness and specialization (role clarity).

Women in the Work Force

...Since women began breaking into the work force the men’s world has been on the offensive and repeatable discriminating against women because of their views of women’s roles in society. They are seen as the weaker sex and considered inferior to men. Atkins and Hoggett discussed the three ways the legal system has attempted to justify limiting women’s job opportunities. The first belief is women’s natural inferiority suggesting women are too emotionally, intellectually, and physically weaker lacking the ability to perform certain jobs outside of the home. Maternity is their second justification used to restrict women’s work. They justified this as being a danger to young infants whose mothers were working outside the home. This portrayed a bleak picture for women as being trapped into staying home because society depends on them to do so. Prior to 1970 pregnant women were dismissed from their jobs and denied re-instatement after giving birth. The Army would discharge a female soldier once it was determined she was pregnant as well confirming societies views that a mother needs to be home with her children. Finally marriage was used as their third justification for these limits. This justification assumes women marry and that the man’s job should be in the public sphere and the woman should remain in the home. These segments reside and work in the Lower Mainland who provides most of British Columbia’s total populations. According to statistical data, there is a growing demand in organics. Individuals between 25-35 years of age who are single, successful and health conscious are more likely to consider organics as an alternative to their lifestyle. ...Joseph Chen Extra Credit: Internship Empowering of Women in the Work Force Not knowing what to expect from this event, I was delighted by the speakers charisma and her take on how to empower yourself in the workplace. Melynnie A. Rizvi brought a more realistic view of the workplace and gaining credibility. Despite being more about a women’s perspective in the workplace she was very insightful when it came to what needed to be done to gain credibility and success. Raised by a single parent, she explained that she had never wanted to rely on another person for her success in life. Graduating in 2009 she went on to work for multiple law firms, the last firm she worked at she made partner but felt that other board members treated her unfairly due to her having a baby. She explained that she and the board member were good friends but the problem was that in corporate America it is still a male dominated workforce and that many men have never faced or have had to deal with a women having a child. What I liked about her was that she was not blaming the person for his behavior, but blaming the world around him. She was very understanding and realistic when it came to this topic. ...It is the popular view among companies which are moving toward automation that robots can do many tasks better than humans. For example, in the automotive industry, most of a car’s individual components are manufactured by pre-programmed robots which have much greater and more precise output than would be possible for a human. In addition, robots cut down the cost of production by a considerable amount. If a company hires an employee to complete a simple task for $50,000 per year but could instead buy a machine for a one time purchase of $30,000, it is far more cost effective to buy the machine. Lower cost of production means that the goods produced can now be sold at a lower pricepoint which passes the savings on to the consumer. Companies producing goods rightly contend that the use of machines to complete low-skill jobs has only positive impact for everyone. Beyond these benefits for industry, some believe that machines will shape the future for the human race. Innovation and invention of new more intelligent machines can push us as humans toward new, unimagined possibilities.
