Sociology Aqa as Unit 01 Workbook

...WORKBOOK ANSWERS AQA AS Sociology Unit 1 Families and Households This Answers book provides some possible answers that might be given for the questions asked in the workbook. They are not exhaustive and other answers may well be acceptable, but they are intended as a guide to give teachers and students feedback. The responses for the longer essay-style questions are intended to give some idea about how the exam questions might be answered. Again, these are not the only ways to answer such questions but they can be treated as one way of approaching questions of these types. Topic 1 Functionalist and New Right views of the family How have functionalist and New Right thinkers explained family life and the relationship between families and social change? 1 The organic analogy refers to the extended comparison made by functionalists between the human or other living body and society, with the organs of the body equivalent to institutions and structures in society. 2 Primary socialisation refers to the first and most important stage of the socialisation process by which young children absorb the norms and values of their culture, mainly from their parents. Note: make sure your answer explains both ‘primary’ and ‘socialisation’. 3 One way in which the nuclear family is more suited than other types of family to modern industrial society is that it allows for geographical mobility; it is easier to move a nuclear family to a new area for, say, a...

Linked Worksheets and Workbooks

...Linked Worksheets and Workbooks . Linked Worksheets and Workbooks Worksheets and workbooks have long been the backbone to many organizations and companies. They are used for just about all a business’s record keeping, from tracking sales to the financial accounting. I reviewed a couple of articles and I found one that emphasized the need for proper workbooks and worksheets. This article goes in detail on how a company by the name of Jaguar Mining took its workbooks and consolidated them to fit the business needs. Jaguar Mining was having trouble because even though it was a small company it was trying to manage three separate workbooks, composed of over 100 linked spreadsheets, containing the financial and operational data for the mining and headquarters locations. That was a lot of work for such a minor company. Each sheet represented different functions for each mine and plant, including operating, capital, and cost data, as well as the monthly financial results. Well this was an impossible task at a company that only had ten people at the company headquarters. The company found that Excel just was not going to work for them. What it did next was switch to a company called Adaptive Planning (now called Adaptive Insight). It still has workbooks and worksheets but now the information that is needed is merged to suit the company’s needs. Jaguar Mining still has its workbooks and worksheets but now can input the data in a form......

...A Summer’s Reading Respect is a very dominant and important factor in the story of Bernard Malamud, “A Summer’s Reading.” The reach for respect from the people around him causes a lot of dilemma within the main character, George Stoyonovic. And those dilemmas led to consequences that George hated. George, a high school drop out, can not get any job during one summer. He decides to read the magazines found at home. But when he met Mr. Cattanzara, he immediately lies about the hundred books he is reading, in order for Mr. Cattanzara to respect him as well as to be proud of him. Respect is a form of acknowledgement of one’s existence. Respect is very important to everybody. Respect also gives a person a sense of confidence that he is not a failure and contradicts the idea that he is not good enough. People want respect because they want others to know how good they are. Though everybody wants it, most people often take it for granted. The irony of it all is that people wants it so much that they would do anything just to get it. In the story, the theme Respect is very important for everybody was shown a couple of times. An example of these scenes is when George was contemplating whether or not he should attend the night classes. “He has considered registering in a night high school, only he did not like the idea of teachers always telling him what to do. He felt that they had not respected him.” He decides......

Diseases of the Human Body; Unit 1 Workbook Assignment

...Unit One Workbook Assignment Chapter 2: Developmental, Congenital, and Childhood Diseases and Disorders Assignment: For each scenario that follows, explain how and why you would schedule an appointment or suggest a referral based on the patient’s reported symptoms. Be sure to first review the “Guidelines for Patient-Screening Exercises” found on page iii in the Introduction section of your Workbook. The mother of a 6-month-old infant calls the office requesting an appointment for her child. She advises that she thinks the child’s head appears swollen and that there are areas that appear to be bulging. What is your response regarding the appointment. Due to her explanation of the symptoms of the infant child it sounds as if the child may have Robinow Syndrome. I'd advise her to make an appointment with the physician when possible so that her child can be diagnosed properly before a proper treatment can be performed, if possible. The mother of a 3-year-old boy calls to report her child had the onset of vomiting and abdominal pain during the night and is now experiencing blood in his urine. She says she just noticed a swelling on his left side toward his back. She requests and appointment. What is your response regarding the appointment? Given the onset of symptoms I'd advise this mother to take her child to the hospital. It seems like the child may have Wilms' Tumor and promptly taking care of this will help in the child's survival. ...

...HLT-362V / Applied Statistics for Healthcare Professionals Workbook Exercises 11 and 16 Exercise 11 1. What demographic variables were measured at least at the interval level of measurement? Age, income, length of labor, return to work, number of hours worked per week 2. What statistics were used to describe the length of labor in this study? Were these appropriate? Mean and standard deviation. Yes, they are appropriate due to their being able to be calculated at the interval level. 3. What other statistic could have been used to describe the length of labor? Were the distributions of scores similar for the experimental and control groups for the length of labor? Provide a rationale for your answer.
