Samurai Warrior

...Samurai Warrior Few countries have a warrior tradition as long and exciting as Japan. It is a tradition found in the Samurai, the loyal and self-sacrificing knight of ancient Japan. The Samurai is a valiant warrior who can both appreciate the beauty of nature in that of a rose blossom but will also kill or die for his master in an instant. This well-rounded warrior was the ruling class of Japan for almost seven hundred years. He fought for control of his country and to keep Japan free from outside influences. (Turnbull 1) This aristocratic warrior class arose during the 12th century wars between the Taira and Minamoto clans and was consolidated in the Tokugawa period. Samurai were privileged to wear two swords, and at one time had the right to cut down any commoner who offended them. They cultivated the martial virtues, indifference to pain or death, and unfailing loyalty to their overlords. Samurai were the dominant group in Japan. Under the Tokugawa shogunate, the samurai were removed from direct control of the villages, moved into the domain castle towns, and given government stipends. They were encouraged to take up bureaucratic posts. The Hagakure, has been dubbed the book of the samurai. It was written after a century of peace around 1716. It came to be the guide of samurai ethics until the end of the feudal period. Its short passages reflect and outline the qualities that make a samurai. Yamamoto Tsunetomo expresses in the hagakure the framework and mindset of being...

...Warrior The tears of my youth have stopped flowing from absorbing the injustice, inflicted by Godly persons of cruel and wicked devils, who have extracted me from the womb of my community, cutting off my mother tongue, forcible compliance to their way of life and killing my spirit, my people, my community and my nation. Severely depressed, I painfully walk with permanent scars that are deeply saturated within my soul and I can no longer speak from my heart as I continue my life’s journey looking, hoping and searching for the end of the trail, beaten, broken, burdened and buried in despair. Helpless and unable to cope with the weight of atrocities gushing from the subtle but deadly waves of genocide that will not subside from all levels of governments along with the courts of the dominion that are manipulating, diminishing and imposing changes that disrupts the well being of our communities. My physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being is extremely out of balance where healing can only come from within and I must rise above the injuries of yesterday otherwise I will be the vessel of tomorrow’s generations that may lead to the fatality of a people. I am a warrior gravely wounded from the incarceration of an Indian Residential School and the genocides, but it is time that my resilience will abrogate the usurping of my people’s rights, liberties and freedoms upon the lands and resources we own, enjoy, use and occupy. I must heal myself by picking up the multiple years of......

The primary language the Zulu speak is called isiZulu what comes from a subgroup called Bantu. The Zulu people’s ancestors moved to this region in the ninth century. Then in the 18th century the Zulu people became a nation and that is when the mythology of the Zulu warrior came to live. The Zulu people actually started as a clan that where part of a group called Nguni. Then during the 19th century the Zulu people’s military became very strong and they took over much of the land, women and goods from many of their neighboring tribes. But then around 1830 the British came in and they wanted to take over the entire southern part of Africa. And in 1879 a war broke out between Europe and the Zulu people where the Zulu people where defeated. Africa became independent in 1910 after the union in South Africa was created. Over the past ten years there has been a lot of struggling and violence for the Zulu people because of the new government for the right to run their own affairs. The Zulu culture primary......

Warrior of Love

...Warrior of Love Have you ever been so in love? Every day there are butterflies on your stomach. Each and every day you dream of his face, how he looks, how perfect he is. His eyes that beguile you. His smile that makes your heart skip a beat. When he sings, it was all like an angelic lullaby. It’s like almost everything he does is perfection. Have you ever felt the rush, when he kisses you for the first time? When his lips say those three words that you’ve been fancying all your life, it’s ecstatic, right? I never knew the reason why I fell in love with him. It could be his brown eyes, his cute smile, his manly figure or his good voice. One day he just came and suddenly, all I know is I’m in love. Elated I was, indeed. It felt so perfect that I never thought if he’s feeling the same. I never knew if he’ll leave me. I never knew how long will he stay. Because it was forever in my eyes. All I see is him with me, infinitely. It was like a raging tornado. A tornado that could hit somewhere without a warning. An unexpected phenomenon that could be fatal. An occurrence that could happen instantly and leave a mark eternally. Once it stricken,in a snap, everything will be devastated. That is how I define it, after he left. My heart broke into fragments. Crushed, every single bit of it. Tears drowned me, pain distressed me. I don’t know how to perfectly describe the agony I felt. But I’m sure, it is the most damaging feeling I’ve felt in my life. When he left me for another......

The Great Warrior

...The Great Warrior Men are the back bone of a tribal society, but women are just as important in taking care of their husband’s homes and children. There is a saying where behind every successful man is a great woman, and behind every unsuccessful man is a bad woman. In the Igbo culture, women do not have much to gamble with such as the men. The women take care of the household; take care of cooking, and the children. We can see this type of behavior in many types of old cultural ways of life. The Igbo culture is known for men to have multiple wives and I view this as a blessing in many ways such as having many different children who can carry out their father’s legacy or vice versa, especially in Okonkwo situation. At the end of this beautiful story we see that Okonkwo kills himself because of the changes that have come to his people. Was it just to see someone hang himself because of this? Well let us see how this had come to be. Okonkwo feared most was failure just like his father; however in my humble opinion his father was not really a failure but more down to earth type of person with problems just like many people in modern day society. Owing people is the same as having a credit card with debt. For Okonkwo to show his manly hood, he takes a very big leap of faith in becoming a well respected man within his tribe which comes with great deal of responsibility. Again, in this case responsibility for Okonkwo is to keep up and maintain his wives and children with food......

The Kneeling Warrior

...Dr. David D. Ireland, Phd. “The Kneeling Warrior”. Lake Mary: Charisma, 2013 Introduction The very Son of God spent many entire nights praying in order to fulfill His ministry. It took Him three arduous hours in Gethsemane to find strength to face the Cross. “He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears” (Heb. 5:7). We, on the other hand, have mastered the art of one-liners in prayer, and think if we give God a two-hour service once a week we’re fairly spiritual. “Easy does it” might be good advice in a few situations, but for most of life, including prayer, easy doesn’t do it. Anyone long associated with the Church of this century, especially in America, knows that our problems do not result from a lack of information or material strength. If we fail in achieving what God asks from us as we run our race, it will be a failure of heart and spirit. I believe our prayers do more than simply motivate the Father to action. They actually release the power of the Holy Spirit from us to accomplish things in the earth realm. In his book, “The Kneeling Warrior,” Dr. David D. Ireland sheds much light on the importance of persistence in prayer and intercession. He takes the time to help us understand that there is literal power from the Holy Spirit which can be released from us is absolute. The power of God that brings life, healing and wholeness to the earth flows out from us---the Church. Content Summary The Bible talks about being watchful in various...

The University of Toledo welcomes you to join the “Star Spangled Banner” songfest event held on March 28th at the Savage Arena at 5pm. Songfest is a grand philanthropic tradition that can be described as a song and dance performance. This year, proceeds raised from the event will go toward the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. The Wounded Warrior Project has helped thousands of family and service members with medical, housing, along with numerous other types of support. Fine Arts: Marble Statue of a Wounded Warrior

...Fine Arts The Marble Statue of a Wounded Warrior is a Roman statue from A.D. 138-181; it is a copy of a Greek statue that was cast around 460-450 B.C. The subject matter of this statue is a warrior in the midst of battle and as the name indicates the warrior is wounded despite the subject not appearing wounded at first glance. The ancient Greek statue depicts a Greek war hero in a contrapposto position caught in a stance of action – the way he is immortalized in the statue directly correlates with Ancient Greek art of its time period and the belief that human body features should be idealized. By evaluating several elements we will be able to see how the Ancient Greek’s act of idolizing the warrior’s physical features is further illustrated in our modern day portrayal of the statue. We will review such things as the statue itself, the history of which it originates from, and the modern day depiction of the statue as viewed from the analysis of the museum’s placement and description of the work of art. As one walks into the corridor where the Wounded Warrior stands, his presence is immediately felt. The frame of reference for us as the viewers is pre-determined. The statue seems to be on a downward slope, his body is at a slight angle where his left foot stands in front of a bent right foot with his head looking down. As we grow closer to the statue, our position in correlation to him is inferior – we are meant to be looking up at him and, as the original probably would......

Warrior Party

...A Warrior in Politics Bringing In the BIG Guns A new version of old ideologies has been created for the Warrior party this year. Bringing past focuses and new views to this renewed set of political issues that should be fought for. Many things have already happened and millions of people have been affected by these things such as the Marriage Equality right and the Affordable Care act. These issues, however, need to be solved before our country takes a turn for the worst. After years and years of presidents getting up and stating that they were going to make this a better country all we have seen as a nation is our debt get higher as well as our kids. We have allowed states to legalize marijuana which has seemed to increase the amount of users outside of those states. Now that those states have legalized marijuana, users outside of those states want their states to legalize it but non users are not being thought of when it comes to this decision. People are forgetting about the underdogs, those who do not use marijuana nor do they want their families around it. If all of the states were to legalize it then where are those who want to avoid it going to go? Will it affect or pollute the fresh air? Will the phrase “fresh air” even be realistic? Should states even have the right to legalize marijuana? These are some things that will be considered when it comes to legalizing marijuana. Another issue that needs to be focused on is No Child Left Behind act in our schools. We......

...The Warriors' Saturday against the did more than end a record-setting start to the season — it also carried the potential to normalize what had previously seemed like an unstoppable force. Would the Warriors' record fall to a more standard level of excellence after proving themselves vulnerable? Would opponents approach them with more confidence? Wednesday's matchup with the answered those questions as clearly as possible. It turns out that the one-loss Warriors look a lot like the team that opened at 24-0. After playing poorly enough for the Suns to build a 42-38 lead through 19 minutes, the Warriors closed the second quarter on a 21-4 run (with no scoring at all in the final 1:40) and won the third quarter 46-19 on their way to a dominant that wasn't even that close. The NBA season-high 46-point period allowed Golden State to rest its starters for the full fourth quarter after they had built a 40-point advantage. The Imperfect Warrior

...The Imperfect Warrior In one of Homer’s epic poems, The Iliad, the main character and hero Achilles, suffers greatly. For example, when Patroclus, Achilles best friend dies(appositive phrase), Achilles falls to the ground and while laying there he “loos[es] a terrible, wrenching cry” in agony (18.39). This shows that Achilles cares for Patroclus more than any character in the poem. When almost anyone else dies Achilles does not even give them a second glance. This also shows that even though Achilles is nearly physically invincible, he can still suffer greatly on an emotional level, which he obviously does. In addition to this, Achilles displays the quintessence of another heroic trait, overcoming one’s weaknesses, which is Achilles’s fiery rage. For example, in the beginning of the book, Achilles is always insulting others calling them “staggering drunk[s]” or saying that they have a “dog’s eyes” but, at the end of the novel he overcomes that and reasons with Priam in a calm and orderly manner saying that he should “sleep outside” because if “one saw [him] here” then “[he would] have a real delay in ransoming the body” (1.263), (24.764). This shows that Achilles matured on an emotional state and progressed as a character over time. This also shows that not only has he overcome his rage, he is able to be kind to the enemy. With fascinating tales about fighting and death as well as having such a dynamic main character, who would not want to read about Achilles (infinitive......

Wounded Healer Analysis

...WOUNDED HEALER ANALYSIS Carl Jung is a a heroine of mine for several reasons. He did study with Sigmund Freud; however, he branched off during his mid-life crisis because he realized that there is more to life than psychosexual stages. He believed in the collective unconscious; a sense of spirituality and the idea that countertransference can actually be helpful to the patient rather than harmful to the analyst. He believes dreams can be interpreted for healing and countertransference because they provide patients with images of their private inner world. He believes that we are all searching to fill a certain void, whether it is our anima (the unconventional, irrational, feminine side) or the animus (masculinity). I think that we all need a little of both in us to feel balanced. As implicated in The Wounded Healer; it’s a matter of how you can handle being wounded, that can bring relief to clients. The more wounds the analyst is capable of tolerating, the more countertransference is plausible; thus helping the patient to continue with recovery. As Carl Jung mentions; the analysts volatile emotions will never be totally worked through [as will anyone's for that matter] but should be calmed, and can be reconstallated under the impact of the patients unconscious. (p.107). As the patient speaks in therapy, there are certain unconscious emotions that unravel known as transference. As the analyst listens, he becomes aware of his own wounds, but nevertheless knows he......
